This probably seems a little silly since the names are only one letter apart!!
We are trying to choose between [name]Ash[/name] and [name]Dash[/name] for our son, due in about 7 weeks. He will be a little brother to [name]Clover[/name]. We like the short, ‘nicknamey’, one syllable first names for him, just can’t make the final decision between the two. And his full name will be either [name]Ash[/name] or [name]Dash[/name], I don’t like any of the [name]Ash[/name]/er/ton/ley’s or [name]Dashiell[/name].
Would love to hear everyones opinions!!! Thanks so much for your input.
I very much prefer [name]Dash[/name]. [name]Ash[/name] just seems so incomplete to me. Plus, I can imagine people double taking to make sure they didn’t hear @$$.
I really like [name]Dash[/name]. There are So many people talking about [name]Asher[/name] at the moment (I know…both versions were on my list of mn options). Then you always have the option of calling him [name]Ash[/name] for a nn.
I don’t really like either and despite the pokemon maste [name]Ash[/name] Ketchum, I would probably pick [name]Ash[/name], because [name]Dash[/name] to me is a word that means to run quickly…
While I absolutely love [name]Dash[/name]–I think it’d be so fun for a little boy to have, all dashing and adorable and cool–but I find it a bit hard to see a grown up just [name]Dash[/name]… I think it’s one of those names that I would prefer to have a fuller name to fall back on for resumes and wedding invitations and such.
I absolutely love [name]Ash[/name], though, and I think it’s a great choice for a boy. Cute for a little boy, and he can definitely grow into it. And [name]Clover[/name] and [name]Ash[/name] are adorable together. Much as I love [name]Asher[/name], I think there’s something striking about just [name]Ash[/name]. It’s really cool.
I prefer [name]Ash[/name] to [name]Dash[/name]. To me, [name]Dash[/name] is a verb (“he dashed through the door”). [name]Ash[/name] is a tree name so I think it would be a “natural” match with [name]Clover[/name].
There are so many kids with [name]Asher[/name]/[name]Ashton[/name] etc that I don’t think anyone will have trouble with getting the name correct. (I say this because of a pp’s comment about it potentially being confused with @$$.)
I think [name]Dash[/name] is an adorable nickname (although I don’t really like [name]Dashiell[/name] either so I don’t know what I would use for a longer version) and a really cute name for a little boy, but I have a really hard time picturing it on an adult. Therefore I prefer [name]Ash[/name] because I think it would grow better with the kid. I suppose you could call him [name]Dash[/name] and nn [name]Ash[/name] when he is older if he wants though…
To be honest I’m not a fan of either name but if I had to choose I would go with [name]Ash[/name]. The reason why I don’t like them is because I don’t think they age well. Cute for babies boys not for grown up men.
My vote is for [name]Dash[/name]. I don’t normally like word names but I think that [name]Dash[/name] is adorable and, like pp said, if it doesn’t age well he can always go by [name]Ash[/name]. I feel like [name]Dash[/name] gives you more options.
Personally I’d pick [name]Dash[/name]. [name]Ash[/name] may be cute on a little boy, but could you really see a grown man named [name]Ash[/name]? A teenager even? Plus with [name]Dash[/name] you get that adventurous vibe, which to me is what you get with [name]Clover[/name]. I love [name]Clover[/name] btw and I think [name]Dash[/name] with go perfect with it
Well, I loved [name]Dash[/name] for years but a cousin used it so it was out and then, a friend had a boy and named him just [name]Ash[/name]. I love them both. It might depend on your middle name and surname (sorry if I missed that)/ [name]Ash[/name] seems to match a little better with [name]Clover[/name], and maybe it is because I know one but I can definitely see [name]Ash[/name] on a teenager and a man and find it very handsome. I really think you can’t go wrong with either choice though.
