Help needed - do we go with popular or unique?

Our baby girl is due in [name]April[/name]. My husband and I have two top names:

[name]Sophia[/name] [name]Irene[/name]
[name]Aurelia[/name] [name]Irene[/name]

We love [name]Sophia[/name] for reasons other than naming trends, but are wary of using it because it is a top name choice right now.

We love [name]Aurelia[/name] but worry that it will be mispronounced and hard to remember.

Any suggestions?

Mmm… that’s a tough one. I say if [name]Sophia[/name] is your absolute, number one favorite, you should stick with it despite its popularity.

[name]Aurelia[/name]… I’ve loved this one since I saw [name]Love[/name] Actually. So beautiful!

It’s a tough call! Good luck! Sorry I couldn’t be of any real help!

I love [name]Aurelia[/name]! [name]Aurelia[/name] [name]Irene[/name] is lovely. Honestly, even with the popularity issues of both names, I don’t think you could go wrong with either. They’re timeless, charming, classy names. Your daughter would be lucky to have either! My favorite is [name]Aurelia[/name]–not because of the popularity thing, either. I adore the nn [name]Ari[/name] and [name]Aurelia[/name] is a consideration for my own list right now. [name]Aurelia[/name]'s meaning (“golden”) is so lovely and [name]Aurelia[/name] [name]Irene[/name] is just stunning.

Good luck!

I think you should go with whichever one you love the best, Im not a big fan of [name]Aurelia[/name] but I do like it here and I dont think it would be that difficult to pronounce

I agree with pps. If [name]Sophia[/name] is you favorite then don’t let its popularity stop you. And I wouldn’t worry too much about the pronunciation, I think [name]Aurelia[/name] is fairly straight forward.

Based on personal opinion, I like the sound of [name]Aurelia[/name] [name]Irene[/name] better than [name]Sophia[/name] [name]Irene[/name].

Thanks for the opinions so far. Does anyone detest the name [name]Sophia[/name]? It’s not one of those names that you roll your eyes at because everyone uses it?

I don’t think [name]Aurelia[/name] is hard to pronounce or spell or, in that case, remember; I think it is lovely.
I don’t detest [name]Sophia[/name], I’m just kind of tired of it
But if you love it, don’t let the popularity deter you - it is popular for a reason: it is a great name.

I roll my eyes at [name]Sophia[/name]. It’s a perfectly lovely name, but for me it loses some of its specialness when every other little girl is a [name]Sophie[/name] or [name]Sophia[/name].

[name]Aurelia[/name] is just gorgeous!

I really like [name]Aurelia[/name] best out of the two. [name]Sophia[/name] is cute and you should definitely still use it despite its popularity if it really is your favorite. What about [name]Sophie[/name]? A little less popular, but very pretty! I actually have [name]Sophie[/name] on my list of girl names instead of [name]Sophia[/name]. Anyways, best of luck!

[name]Sophia[/name] is a great name, but you’re correct VERY popular. [name]Aurelia[/name] is nice, but possibly a tad hard to day/remember. There is nothing wrong with that though if you love it!

I think an [name]Aurelia[/name] would only have to tell people once how to pronounce her name because it’s pretty easy to say, especially if they’re looking at it on paper. It’s pretty straightforward, just maybe a little unfamiliar.

That being said, I definitely prefer [name]Aurelia[/name] over [name]Sophia[/name]. [name]Aurelia[/name] is gorgeous, and if you take the meanings of [name]Aurelia[/name] and [name]Irene[/name] you get “[name]Golden[/name] peace” which I think is lovely.
