I’m stuck, the names I love don’t seem to work, they all have something wrong with them, either not fitting our surname or their siblings names. So I’ll looking at my lists again.
My kids’ names are ‘edited’ and our surname begins with S and has lots of T sounds in it. What do you think would work from my list below or other suggestions.
My top loves are Lumi, [name]Alba[/name] and [name]Iris[/name], but wanted opinions or suggestions from my other list. I don’t like traditional, biblical or overly frilly names.
From your lists, I like [name]Iris[/name], [name]Maeve[/name], [name]Iseult[/name], & [name]Pearl[/name] the most. I think they all would fit well with the siblings names.
A few other suggestions would be:
[name]Anya[/name]
[name]Emer[/name]
[name]Nessa[/name]
[name]Niamh[/name]
I really love these ones:
Eirlys (nice to see someone else who likes this one), [name]Ione[/name], [name]Indigo[/name], [name]Signe[/name], [name]Wren[/name], Isilde, [name]Tamsin[/name], [name]Ianthe[/name], [name]Elowen[/name], [name]Artemis[/name] and [name]Pandora[/name]. Lumi, [name]Alba[/name] and [name]Iris[/name] are all so pretty!
I don’t like [name]Pearl[/name], [name]Opal[/name] and [name]Maeve[/name].
Lumi - I love Finnish names but this really stands out from Irish and familiar [name]Aidan[/name] and [name]Finn[/name] and uncommon but familiar rhythmed [name]Calla[/name]. However in a weird way [name]Finn[/name] ties it up the tiniest bit (but probably only to name nerds). [name]Luna[/name] would fit in. [name]Aidan[/name], [name]Finn[/name], [name]Calla[/name], and [name]Luna[/name]. Talvi is the Finnish word for winter and I feel like that fits in a bit better.
[name]Alba[/name] - I like it but it shares the initial with [name]Aidan[/name] and sounds simliar to [name]Calla[/name]. I also feel like it’s much more old lady really than the others. I’m not immediately sure what to suggest. [name]Ebba[/name]?
[name]Iris[/name] - this is a beautiful name but I hear how it bumps into your surname. My suggestion is [name]Irisa[/name]. Or [name]Irina[/name].
[name]Ianthe[/name] - I think this name is hard to wear, and it doesn’t really fit in. [name]Ariadne[/name]? [name]Xanthe[/name]?
[name]Evadne[/name] - also clunky and tricky to pull off, but she can fit in a bit better with [name]Eva[/name], [name]Eve[/name], [name]Evie[/name] as nickname options. [name]Evanthe[/name]?
Eirlys - I just hear careless : (. It is a pretty idea though. [name]Eira[/name] would work more easily.
[name]Tamsin[/name] - this could work! (although you’d have three -n ending names), [name]Tansy[/name]?
[name]Elowen[/name] - this could work! (although you’d have 3 -n ending names)
[name]Azure[/name] - this could work! (although another A name. Sinikka is a popular Finnish name meaning blue)
[name]Ione[/name] - this could work, although [name]Iona[/name] might work more?
[name]Iseult[/name]/Isilde - too hard to spell, hear, wear.
[name]Maeve[/name] - this would work well!
[name]Wren[/name] - this works OK but a little close to [name]Finn[/name]?
[name]Pearl[/name] - this works well!
[name]Opal[/name] - this works well!
[name]Artemis[/name] - I find this name unattractive, I think it reads masculine to unfamiliar readers.
[name]Signe[/name] - I like this name but it is awfully close to [name]Sydney[/name].
[name]Pandora[/name] - I like the idea of this name, but it’s a sad story and I also feel like it would stand out too much from the siblings.
[name]Juna[/name]/[name]Juni[/name] - I like these! I like [name]Juna[/name] more. [name]Juni[/name] is cute but feels nicknamey. [name]Juna[/name] nn [name]Juni[/name] is nice. I also like [name]Juno[/name].
[name]Delphi[/name] - this is too strange / too dolphin. [name]Delphine[/name] would be OK…but just OK.
[name]Indigo[/name] - this would work well! [name]India[/name]?
So, again, some suggestions:
[name]Luna[/name]
Talvi
[name]Ebba[/name]
[name]Irisa[/name]
[name]Irina[/name]
[name]Ariadne[/name]
[name]Xanthe[/name]
[name]Evanthe[/name]
[name]Eira[/name]
[name]Tansy[/name]
Sinikka
[name]Iona[/name]
[name]India[/name]
My favorite for you from your list is [name]Pearl[/name].
Thanks all,
Jesba, I agree with your assessment of [name]Alba[/name] which is why I’m worried about it. And [name]Iris[/name]. I kind of like [name]Irisa[/name], but not sure.
My DP really doesn’t like [name]Luna[/name] because of the ‘looney’ thing and he’s worried about the same thing with Lumi. I like Talvi, but it doesn’t flow well with our T heavy surname.
[name]Tamsin[/name] is a strong contender, but worried about the S/T thing, I like the nn Sini/Sinikka for it, rather than [name]Tammy[/name]. [name]Tansy[/name] is sweet but a feels a bit frilly for me.
I had [name]Eira[/name] on my list, but the Finnish prn is air-eh which bothered DP as he’s from the [name]West[/name] of [name]Scotland[/name] where that means [name]Eire[/name] which could cause problems when we return (catholic/protestant thing). And I’m not sold on the sound of it. Seems a bit flat.
[name]Iona[/name] is really popular back home, so I’m not keen on it.
With sibs that have recognizable and easy to prn names and a S and T heavy last name I like these the best.
[name]Maeve[/name] - by far my favorite
[name]Wren[/name] - love this name, though I’m not sure it’s feminine enough without being frilly for me. I like that [name]Calla[/name] is so clearly feminine and I feel like [name]Wren[/name] doesn’t meet that.
[name]Pearl[/name] - this might almost be too “normal” for your kid
[name]Opal[/name] - I like this as a slightly quirkier cousin of [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Juna[/name] - after [name]Maeve[/name] this would be my top choice
