Help Needed to Connect an Adopted Child to the Family!

My mother’s name is [name]Gertrude[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] and my father’s name is [name]Lawrence[/name] [name]Cabot[/name]. I am in the adoption process and want to give my soon to be daughter a family name to help her feel connected. Can anyone think of any unique, somewhat gender neutral names that are variations of any of the four above? Thanks for your help!!

[name]Hi[/name]! [name]How[/name] exciting! For a girl, [name]Laurel[/name] reminds me [name]Lawrence[/name], and I also love [name]Elizabeth[/name] and [name]Eliza[/name]! (You could always go with G.E. or E.G. initials, like [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name]…) For a boy, I think that [name]Cabot[/name] [name]Lawrence[/name] is really handsome!

For more gender-neutral names, you may also like [name]Linden[/name] or [name]Ellis[/name].

You could also go with names that share the meanings of the names you’ve listed.

Names that have to do with strength, like [name]Gertrude[/name]:

[name]Barrett[/name] (although there’s a disease called [name]Barrett[/name]'s Esophagus)

G names for boys:

Good luck!

[name]Gertrude[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] and [name]Lawrence[/name] [name]Cabot[/name].

It was such a surprise to see your post! We went through exactly the same thing with two of our children just a couple of months ago, and finalised the adoption today

For [name]Lawrence[/name], [name]Lauren[/name] and [name]Laurel[/name] seem to fit your gender-neutral requirement the best, but I also love [name]Lorna[/name] and [name]Lorelai[/name].

As for [name]Elizabeth[/name] (which is easier to work with than [name]Gertrude[/name], I think), I really think that [name]Elizabeth[/name] itself would make a brilliant mn, as it is such a timeless classic. [name]Eliza[/name] is another pretty option.

So, how about :
_____ [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Laurel[/name]
_____ [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Laurel[/name]
_____ [name]Lorna[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
_____ [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Lorelai[/name]
_____ [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Lorelai[/name].

Good luck!

I like [name]Lawrence[/name] for a girl. It sound smart. I picture a girl like [name]Jo[/name] [name]March[/name] writing plays and books when I think of a [name]Lawrence[/name] as a girl’s name.

My Great-Grandfather’s name was [name]Lawrence[/name], and I would definitely use it for a girl.

Congratulations on your new daughter! I would go with
[name]Lauren[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]–beautiful combination of both [name]Lawrence[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name] to honor your parents.

I think [name]Cabot[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] could work too!

Gender neutral as in unisex?

The suggestion of [name]Linden[/name] and [name]Ellis[/name] was good.

[name]Both[/name] [name]Lawrence[/name] and [name]Cabot[/name] could be used in the middle name position to signify that the family wanted the name to be carried down the generations. Of the two I prefer [name]Cabot[/name].

WOW! thank you for all the great suggestions!!
