Hopefully you all can help we have a new baby boy in the house (number 3) and we have run fresh out of names; or at least ones we can agree upon.
Our two oldest are named [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_m]Naeem[/name_m]–which may seem like an odd mix for some, but my name is [name_m]Kahlil[/name_m] and my partner’s is [name_f]Alyson[/name_f], so we are used to the mix. The issue so far has been finding names that both sweet and soft, are not too matchy with other kids names (for example we both like [name_m]Raheem[/name_m]), and are unique.
We do like shorter names 1-2 syllables for sure, but here are some names that have been vetoed by either my partner or I.
We recently had it narrowed to two names [name_u]Issa[/name_u] and [name_m]Kobe[/name_m], but those have both fallen out of favor. ([name_u]Issa[/name_u] because my partner cannot see it as anything but feminine and [name_m]Kobe[/name_m] because of the recent [name_m]Kobe[/name_m] [name_m]Bryant[/name_m] news–don’t want everyone to view him as a namesake. I cannot get around it).

[name_m]Henry[/name_m] & [name_m]Naeem[/name_m] are very different, but they’re both soft yet handsome. I love [name_u]Remy[/name_u] or [name_m]Idris[/name_m] for their brother. I agree that [name_u]Issa[/name_u] sounds a bit feminine. I also agree that it is not a great time to name your child [name_m]Kobi[/name_m].
Here are a few suggestions:
[name_u]Ari[/name_u]
[name_u]Avi[/name_u]
[name_m]Basil[/name_m]
[name_m]Cove[/name_m]-could do the nn Covey, which is kind of like [name_m]Kobi[/name_m].
I am also looking for names that fit your style. [name_m]How[/name_m] about:
[name_m]Abbas[/name_m]
[name_m]Abram[/name_m]
[name_m]Aaru[/name_m]
[name_m]Aarav[/name_m]
[name_m]Jamil[/name_m]
[name_m]Amil[/name_m]
[name_m]Amir[/name_m]
[name_m]Ambrose[/name_m]
[name_m]Ezra[/name_m]
[name_u]Asa[/name_u]

[name_u]Jude[/name_u]
[name_m]Isam[/name_m]
[name_m]Ishaan[/name_m]
[name_m]Amias[/name_m]
Zakai
[name_u]Elias[/name_u]/[name_m]Ilias[/name_m]
[name_m]Esaias[/name_m]
Thanks so much! I felt like I had seen and considered every name in existance, but all of these are really solid suggestions. I particularly had never thought to take longer forms of [name_u]Remy[/name_u].
From those suggested my partner liked:
Remiel
[name_m]Samir[/name_m]
[name_m]Yusef[/name_m]
[name_u]Emery[/name_u] and [name_m]Emrys[/name_m]
[name_u]Nuri[/name_u] --which is funny becaus [name_f]Noor[/name_f]/Nour has been on my list
[name_m]Koa[/name_m]
[name_m]Jamil[/name_m] --really like that spelling of that and one of my favorite girl names is [name_f]Jamila[/name_f]
Kareem
I have seen [name_u]Asa[/name_u], but how do you pronounce it? like [name_m]Ace[/name_m]- uh?
[name_u]Remy[/name_u] could be a nickname for [name_m]Remus[/name_m]? Also, I don’t see [name_u]Issa[/name_u] as too feminine! I grew up around a boy [name_u]Issa[/name_u], so trust me when I say once it’s on a person, your perspective changes. [name_m]Idris[/name_m] is fantastic!

[name_f]Glad[/name_f] we were able to help! Yeah I have seen it being pronounced [name_m]Ace[/name_m]-uh, very cool boys name.
All those you picked out are gorgeous. But although I originally suggested it, looking back at your other names [name_u]Emery[/name_u] is quite close sounding to [name_m]Henry[/name_m], but [name_m]Emrys[/name_m] would work, and perhaps the same for [name_m]Kareem[/name_m] and [name_m]Naeem[/name_m]? The rest all work really well though, hope you are able to choose something you love.
[name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Naeem[/name_m] and Remiel
[name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Naeem[/name_m] and [name_m]Samir[/name_m]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Naeem[/name_m] and [name_m]Yusef[/name_m]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Naeem[/name_m] and [name_m]Emrys[/name_m]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Naeem[/name_m] and [name_u]Nuri[/name_u]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Naeem[/name_m] and [name_m]Koa[/name_m]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Naeem[/name_m] and [name_m]Jamil[/name_m]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Naeem[/name_m] and [name_u]Asa[/name_u]
I think [name_m]Idris[/name_m], [name_m]Kofi[/name_m] and [name_u]Asa[/name_u] are all very dashing names! I do love [name_m]Koa[/name_m] but it feels quite a departure from [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_m]Naeem[/name_m] - although each will have a very distinctive name and style so maybe it fits perfectly actually!
Yes, [name_u]Asa[/name_u] is pronounced like [name_m]Ace[/name_m]-a. I love the name [name_u]Asa[/name_u] or [name_m]Jamil[/name_m]. There is also [name_m]Kareem[/name_m], casim, kamil, Jassem, [name_m]Ibrahim[/name_m] or [name_m]Emil[/name_m]/[name_m]Amil[/name_m].
Since you both like [name_m]Raheem[/name_m] I think [name_m]Rafi[/name_m] or [name_m]Ramy[/name_m] would be closer to what y’all might like [name_m]Remus[/name_m] is also soft and not often used and might fit too.
Why not go for [name_u]Remy[/name_u] [name_m]Idris[/name_m]? That was you both get your favourite. I often feel if Mum does all the hard work for the baby, let her favourite name go first and it takes a big Dad to let her have her choice.
