help! one week left!

We’re exactly one week away from meeting our little girl, and I’m getting a bit desperate :). Ideally, I’d like to have a short list of about five names to take to the hospital, and then decide once we’ve held her for a bit, like we did with my older daughter.

Big sister is [name_f]Mollie[/name_f] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f], and I don’t think I want this first name to start with an M or end with -ie, to avoid seeming themed.

So far our frontrunners are [name_f]Livia[/name_f] ([name_f]Livvy[/name_f]/[name_f]Liv[/name_f]), [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] ([name_f]Lola[/name_f]), [name_f]Isla[/name_f] (too trendy?), and [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]. I just can’t stand most of the [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] nicknames (and we always end up using nicknames) so I’d need help with new options for that one! :). Other names that have been used by close family and therefore disqualified are [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Madeline[/name_f], [name_u]Eloise[/name_u], and [name_f]Clara[/name_f].

Thank you, berries!

[name_f]Livia[/name_f] is gorgeous - [name_f]Liv[/name_f] is my front-runner, so I am partial to the nn [name_f]Liv[/name_f]/[name_f]Livvy[/name_f]. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have a middle name picked out? If not, some pretty combos:

[name_f]Livia[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_f]Livia[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Livia[/name_f] [name_f]Camille[/name_f]
[name_f]Livia[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]
[name_f]Livia[/name_f] [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]
[name_f]Livia[/name_f] [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] (in case you want to use this first as a middle!)
[name_f]Livia[/name_f] [name_f]Renae[/name_f]
[name_f]Livia[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]
[name_f]Livia[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]
[name_f]Livia[/name_f] [name_f]Celeste[/name_f]
[name_f]Livia[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]

Good luck

I think that with big sister [name_f]Mollie[/name_f] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lola[/name_f] (or even [name_f]Lulu[/name_f]) is just perfect! Both have that soft, sweet vintage feel.

I agree that [name_f]Livia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Liv[/name_f] or [name_f]Livvie[/name_f] is great, but it feels a little too spiky next to [name_f]Mollie[/name_f].

Very best of luck with the new addition!

I agree with the previous poster that [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lola[/name_f] matches [name_f]Mollie[/name_f] best. My second favorite is [name_f]Livia[/name_f] despite the contrasting sound. Both names are vintage, short in length and feminine. I would take [name_f]Isla[/name_f] off your list because it’s becoming rather popular and doesn’t lend itself to any nicknames. I would also not use [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] for the same reason, [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] and all it’s nicknames are quite popular. Having said that, you did say you were looking for nicknames for [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]. You could use: [name_u]Isa[/name_u] (Spanish pronunciation “ee-suh”), [name_u]Izzy[/name_u], [name_f]Belle[/name_f], [name_f]Bella[/name_f], [name_f]Elle[/name_f], or [name_f]Ella[/name_f].

I love all your names but agree about the popularity ([name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]) and style ([name_f]Livia[/name_f]). I’m also biased because [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] is probably my #1 favorite name right now.

[name_f]Louisa[/name_f] and [name_f]Mollie[/name_f] are so lovely together.

[name_f]Louisa[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]

[name_f]Louisa[/name_f] is, by far, my favorite!

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] so much you have no idea. Of course hubby nixed it. [name_f]Lola[/name_f] is an adorable nick name.

Here are some middle name ideas…
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f] [name_f]Isobel[/name_f]
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]

[name_f]Louisa[/name_f] gets my vote!

I’m obsessed with [name_f]Lola[/name_f]. It’s the perfect short, sweet & sassy name. I love it soooo much. If I ever have a girl it’s a front runner for sure. [name_f]Liv[/name_f] I also love. It’s on my list as well. I prefer either [name_f]Liv[/name_f] or [name_f]Livie[/name_f] over [name_f]Livia[/name_f] though.

I really like [name_f]Livia[/name_f] nn Livi or [name_f]Liv[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabel[/name_f].
Nicknames for [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]: [name_f]Ibby[/name_f], [name_f]Issie[/name_f], [name_u]Isa[/name_u], Isby, [name_f]Bel[/name_f], [name_u]Bela[/name_u], [name_u]Abi[/name_u], [name_u]Sabel[/name_u], Sabby, [name_f]Izzie[/name_f], [name_f]Ilsa[/name_f], Isie

I adore [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabel[/name_f].

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Mollie[/name_f] and [name_f]Lola[/name_f]

My name is [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] so I vote for it! I pronounce it the [name_m]German[/name_m] way - Loo-wee-zah.

Thank you all! We ended up with [name_f]Livia[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] - it fits her perfectly! Also, our godson was diagnosed with cancer the day she was born, so the positive connotations with “[name_f]Liv[/name_f]” made it just seem right. Thanks again!

Beautiful name and I love how it suits her, these “signs” are such a sign of hope when we sometimes need them most! Best of luck to you with your new little bundle and to your godson as well. <3
