I like [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] better than [name_f]Anna[/name_f], but I voted [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] - I agree that it flows much better!
It depends on a lot of things. If you pronounce [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] with -lyn at the end, then yeah, the flow is not the best. But [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] with -line and [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] are definitely doable. Besides, I think [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] goes better with [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] and [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], even though there is absolutely nothing wrong with [name_f]Anna[/name_f]! I just prefer [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] overall.
Some nickname suggestions for [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]:
• [name_f]Lina[/name_f]
• [name_u]Lynn[/name_u]
• [name_f]Ida[/name_f]
• [name_f]Ada[/name_f]
• [name_f]Ena[/name_f] (eh-na)
• [name_u]Dana[/name_u]
Running out of options here, but you get me! Nicknames are where you get to be creative. They don’t necessarily have to be connected to the name itself. I mean, my name is [name_f]Elena[/name_f] and my cousin calls me [name_f]Elsa[/name_f].
I hope you figure it out! Good luck and congrats!
[name_f]Anna[/name_f] gets my vote - I think the timelessness of [name_f]Anna[/name_f] actually does fit better with quirky classics [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] & [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]. Also, I’m not a fan of the double -line/-lyn, regardless of the pronunciation of [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] (I find that it’s the L’s that throw the flow off, at least for me).
Thanks for your responses!
We would say [name_m]Add[/name_m]-a-line, not [name_m]Add[/name_m]-a-lyn. I’ll edit the original post to reflect that. Thanks for bringing that up — it does make a difference!
[name_f]Anna[/name_f] by a mile [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] is a very sweet middle name.
I agree it doesn’t match the siblings names, but she is her own person.
I do like:
[name_m]Ezra[/name_m], [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], and
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f]
Or
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
If you’re looking for suggestions.
It’s tough cause I prefer [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] over [name_f]Anna[/name_f] with siblings named [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] and [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], but [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] sounds a far better. However, since I don’t think there are many times to use middles, I’d say [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Adelina[/name_f] [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] would sounds better, if you’re still open to some suggestions, and she can also have a name that ends with -a like her siblings. Good luck!
I voted [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] at the moment, but I didn’t always and could go off it again. [name_f]Anna[/name_f] will always be beautiful.
[name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] is very Old Hollywood glamour and sophistication — I love it!
I voted [name_f]Anna[/name_f] as I think it flows best with the middle name and I just love it. [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] may have more of a regal feel that matches your 2 children but I also find it very trendy. There are soooo many popular names starting with [name_m]Ad[/name_m] and just as many ending in line or [name_u]Lyn[/name_u]. This name just blends right into the crowd for me in this current generation.
I love the timelessness and simple beauty of [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. It has a different vibe than her siblings, but she is a different person. So I don’t think she needs to match them. And I don’t think it clashes. If you had an [name_m]Ezra[/name_m], [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] and were considering [name_u]Paisley[/name_u] I’d say yikes, that kid doesn’t fit!! But [name_f]Anna[/name_f] doesn’t jump out as being the odd one out.
Good luck.
I voted [name_f]Anna[/name_f] since it flows better with the middle name and you don’t like [name_f]Addie[/name_f]. I do think [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] is slightly better with the siblings, but [name_f]Anna[/name_f] works too. I’ll also suggest [name_f]Annalise[/name_f] (could use [name_f]Anna[/name_f] as a nickname).
I voted Adeline. I think the flow with Marilyn is just fine, and I like it with Ezra and Ophelia better than Anna, for all the same reasons you mentioned. I wouldn’t worry about potential nicknames for two reasons: one, you get to control that, for the most part; and two, you’ll get used to it. I have a daughter named Natalie, even though the nickname Nat was just unappealing to me. She is now 15 and I call her Nat probably daily. If you don’t like the nickname Addie, make a different nickname for her - Annie, for example (since you like Anna). Or just call her Adeline and when people shorten it, just correct them. “She doesn’t use that nickname, she’s just Adeline.” If you’re interested in suggestions, I do like sarah1800’s suggestion of Annalise, though I prefer the Anneliese spelling; you could still call her Anna or Annie.
