help! only 10 days left!

So my scheduled c-section is next thursday and we’re still looking for the perfect name combo. Hubby relented last night and gave me some positive feedback on a few names, so I have a bit more of a list to go off of but would love some more suggestions because honestly i’m just not in love with any of these (Save [name_f]Thalia[/name_f], which hubby is ify about). we like names with some meaning, and hubby dislikes hard consonant sounds for girls (K, R, N). I like names with a lot of meaning and originality. I just dont want my kid to have to go by an initial for being the third with the same name in one class, you know?

Sisters are [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] Kealani [name_f]Joy[/name_f] and [name_f]Avalyn[/name_f] [name_f]Shanti[/name_f]. Brother is Daishin [name_m]Kiran[/name_m].

Our list so far:

[name_f]Laurel[/name_f] (hubby isn’t 100% on board but likes that it’s “cute and unique”)
[name_f]Eliana[/name_f] (hubby likes but I’m kinda not feeling it as much)
Mahina (We both love this as a middle)
[name_f]Aiyana[/name_f] (this is hub’s favorite but I worry that it lacks substance, i guess)
[name_f]Thalia[/name_f] (again a personal favorite that hubby doesnt hate)
[name_f]Lillian[/name_f] (hubby doesn’t care for this one as much but i’m considering [name_f]Liliana[/name_f] as a compromise since he seems to favor the -ana sound)

names hubby has absolutely vetoed:

[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] (he cannot abide the inevitable ‘laura the liar’ teasing)
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]/Gwenlian (doesn’t like any gwen names)
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] (too harsh)
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] (likes the meaning but claims it’s not pretty enough)
[name_f]Abigail[/name_f] (dislikes the G sound)
[name_f]Acadia[/name_f] (hard c sound in combo with the d sound doesnt thrill him)

I would appreciate any help you berries could offer. Hubby is insanely picky. so nothing too outrageous, but please no [name_f]Janes[/name_f] or sarahs, either.

I am scheduled for c-section next month and had a heated argument with DH recently about names. He has put about .01 percent of the effort in to finding a name that I have, so I have decided that as long as he doesn’t DISLIKE my name choice he will learn to love it. [name_f]Thalia[/name_f] is a soft sweet name he will love because it’s his daughter’s name . The others I like are [name_f]Lillian[/name_f], [name_f]Aiyana[/name_f], and [name_f]ELiana[/name_f]. [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] and [name_f]Thalia[/name_f] are my faves.

I say go for [name_f]Thalia[/name_f] - [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] is a lot more popular. Or [name_f]Eliana[/name_f], if he loves it and you don’t mind?

Here are some vowel names (in line w/your other girls’ names)

[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Isolda[/name_f]
Irenna
[name_f]Indigo[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f]
[name_f]Olivia[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Odette[/name_f]
[name_f]Oriana[/name_f]
[name_f]Octavia[/name_f]
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f]
[name_f]Honore[/name_f]
[name_f]Ursula[/name_f]
[name_f]Uma[/name_f]
[name_f]Oona[/name_f]

Hmm…
From your list my favourites are [name_f]Laurel[/name_f], [name_f]Eliana[/name_f], and [name_f]Lillian[/name_f]. I would go with [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] just because she has the best flow with the rest of your children’s names.
Suggestions:
[name_f]Gardenia[/name_f]
[name_f]Zara[/name_f]
[name_f]Persephone[/name_f]
[name_f]Ciara[/name_f] ([name_m]KEER[/name_m] [name_m]AH[/name_m])
[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]
[name_f]Clemency[/name_f]
[name_f]Zinnia[/name_f]
[name_f]Effie[/name_f]
[name_f]Lenora[/name_f]

Verminator, sounds like we’re in pretty similar situations! My hubby is a dear but has offered little help except for telling me early on that he likes the name summer which I can’t agree with. I kind of like the ring of [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_f]Thalia[/name_f] [name_m]Boyd[/name_m], but i was hoping we could reach a middle ground that didnt leave out his taste altogether.

[name_f]Jana[/name_f], [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] isn’t bad, but I also don’t love it. I do really dig the n ellie, though

rkrd, I really love [name_f]Iris[/name_f] i’ll have to put it on my list. Hubby won’t go for an O name at all, and I’m afraid your others might be a bit too creative for his taste. Vowel names aren’t a necessity. In fact, it hadnt occurred to me that I had that theme going for my girls! lol. My coworkers have been going for a C or B name to help me fill in the beginning of the alphabet

tori, I love your suggestions, but am afraid that hubby would think they’re too unusual. I suggested [name_f]Zara[/name_f] early on but he thinks it’s too close to sara and [name_f]Willow[/name_f] got shot down, so I’m not sure [name_f]Willa[/name_f] would do much better. I’m going to put [name_f]Lenora[/name_f], [name_f]Ciara[/name_f] and [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] on the list. Maybe the background on [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] will convince him, it’s such a lovely name.

I should add that I’m a huge fan of names that have easy cutesy nick names.

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you ladies realized that lyndp copied some popular nameberry favorite ([name_f]Eliana[/name_f], [name_f]Lilian[/name_f], [name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]) and some twisted [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f]'s names ([name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]- belphoebe(in recent topic everyone prefer [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] over Belphoebe), [name_f]Acadia[/name_f]- [name_f]Arcadia[/name_f], her favorite in first topic about dd2 which her husband nixed and Gwenlian-Gwenllian)?

I like [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] and [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] from your list.

[name_f]Laurel[/name_f] - My favourite from your list, it’s not overly popular, you could use [name_u]Laurie[/name_u] or [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] as a cute nn.
[name_f]Eliana[/name_f] - I don’t like that it has the same starting letters as [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], it makes it sound too similar imo.
Mahina - Would make a lovely mn.
[name_f]Aiyana[/name_f] - It sounds to me like somebody saying ‘Hey [name_f]Anna[/name_f]’, I don’t really like it, I like [name_f]Anna[/name_f] though but that might be too plain?
[name_f]Thalia[/name_f] - Nice, could use nn [name_u]Tally[/name_u] or [name_f]Lia[/name_f].
[name_f]Lillian[/name_f] - I MUCH prefer [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] to [name_f]Lilliana[/name_f]. Pretty name, quite popular though.

Some suggestions:
[name_f]Camilla[/name_f]/ [name_f]Camille[/name_f] - You could use [name_f]Milly[/name_f] as a nn, and it helps with the Alphabet theme your coworkers are going with.
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] - You could use [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] or [name_f]Tilda[/name_f] as a nn.
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f] - You could use [name_f]Cece[/name_f] as a nn, and goes with the Alphabet theme again.
[name_f]Florence[/name_f] - You could use [name_f]Florrie[/name_f] or [name_f]Wren[/name_f] as nn’s, kind of goes in with the alphabet.
[name_f]Seraphine[/name_f]/[name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] - You could use [name_f]Sera[/name_f] or Phinn as nn’s.

boyandgirl, these are my personal favorites right now. i’m digging the nature themed names but he was pretty neutral on [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] and didnt seem thrilled about laurel other than thinking it was pretty and unique

littleredone, I adore the nn ellie, so i liked that for laurel and eliana, but i’m thinking you’re right about the elizabeth/eliana thing. Plus [name_f]Eliana[/name_f], while cute just doesnt feel right to me, i guess. [name_f]Eliana[/name_f]… i’ve spent the past 9 months growing this baby and I can’t imagine her as an [name_f]Eliana[/name_f]. I agree wholeheartedly on Mahina, and i really dig the meaning (moon/moonlight). I worry that [name_f]Aiyana[/name_f] might sound a little made up i guess, and [name_f]Anna[/name_f] would be outshined by her sisters i think. [name_f]Thalia[/name_f] is holding fast in my top 3, with [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] and [name_f]Laurel[/name_f]. I don’t care as much for lilliana, but would be willing to compromise since she’ll end up [name_f]Lilly[/name_f] either way. Of your suggestions I really like [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] and seraphina, but the meaning turns me off on [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] and I worry that [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] is going to be pretty popular coming up. [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] is pretty, too and the nn tillie appeals to me, but the association with the movie/book would turn hubby off of it.

I’m sorry if i seem super picky. I’m super stressed and worried that i’ll end up in recovery looking down at this beautiful little girl and havign no idea what to even call her.

You’ve got a lot of L’s and A’s in your list.

I really think [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] is perfect with your other names. It feels like a lovely middle ground between classic [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and ethereal [name_f]Avalyn[/name_f]. It’s earthy and natural but has similarities to the more traditional [name_f]Laura[/name_f].

[name_f]Thalia[/name_f] is beautiful, but it seems more different than your others names.

Since you’re both compromising with [name_f]Lilliana[/name_f] and he doesn’t really like [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] I wouldn’t use it as a first.

My first thought outside of your current list was [name_f]Flora[/name_f] because of it’s meaning, it’s similarity to [name_f]Laurel[/name_f], and it’s -a ending.
