Really struggling on a name for our 3rd baby who is boy who will be arriving in a couple of weeks  Siblings are [name_m]Luis[/name_m] (nn. [name_m]Louie[/name_m]) and [name_f]Esme[/name_f] (nn. Es-may) surname starts with Dut and ends in n.
As other two are not too common looking for perhaps a more classic name with a twist, nothing too pretentious ! [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t want name beginning with C, D or K.
Names we have so far:
[name_m]Tom[/name_m] (boring but our ‘safe’ backup)
[name_m]Willem[/name_m] ‘[name_m]Will[/name_m]’
[name_u]Theo[/name_u] (like but I find the ‘th’ hard to pronounce!)
[name_u]Jude[/name_u] (know a sort of friend who’s son is called [name_u]Jude[/name_u] so not sure if I should use
[name_m]Edward[/name_m] ‘[name_m]Teddie[/name_m]’
Sort of like:
[name_u]Rafe[/name_u]
Jontyn
[name_m]Saul[/name_m] (sounds a bit mean ?)
[name_u]Elliot[/name_u] (too wet?)
As you can see I’m not doing very well! Also as I’m a teacher I keep relating names to my students …ahhh!!!
Can’t have names due to friends or family already having these names:
[name_u]Max[/name_u]
[name_u]Finn[/name_u] (love this name but have two friends with this name already!)
[name_u]Freddie[/name_u]
[name_m]Ralph[/name_m]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_m]Adam[/name_m]
[name_m]Luke[/name_m]
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m]
[name_m]Josiah[/name_m]
[name_m]Samuel[/name_m]
[name_m]George[/name_m]
I like [name_u]Elliot[/name_u]! What do you mean too wet? I love [name_u]Jude[/name_u]! But I understand not being able to use it if someone close has picked it.
I love [name_u]Rafe[/name_u] and [name_m]Jonty[/name_m]. Not sure [name_u]Rafe[/name_u] fits the sibset though. [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] can stand alone [name_f]IMO[/name_f] and fits great
The term ‘wet’ means lacking in forcefulness/strength … It’s an English (which i am) turn of phrase
The person with [name_u]Jude[/name_u] is an ex work colleague so only have contact on FB! But it’s hard to find a name which nobody I know somewhere hasn’t used already! It’s so difficult this naming lark! Has anyone got any name suggestions which I’ve missed?
My favorites from your list are [name_u]Jude[/name_u] and [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] (not wet, not even a little!). A couple other suggestions for you of names that I think are “classic with a twist” and hopefully not pretentious, though we might have different definitions on that!:
Instead of [name_u]Jude[/name_u] there’s [name_m]Job[/name_m], [name_m]Jobe[/name_m] and [name_m]Jove[/name_m]?
I like [name_m]Willem[/name_m] and [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] best with [name_m]Luis[/name_m] and [name_f]Esme[/name_f].
I’m not sure if these fit you criteria but:
[name_u]Reed[/name_u]/ [name_u]Reid[/name_u]
[name_m]Thierry[/name_m]
[name_m]Pierce[/name_m]
[name_u]Ari[/name_u]/ [name_u]Avi[/name_u]
[name_m]Jonty[/name_m]
[name_m]Ivan[/name_m] (nn [name_u]Van[/name_u])
Tomo
Yes like your suggestions, had [name_m]Iven[/name_m] ( which means little archer which is sweet) on my list and [name_m]Jove[/name_m] for a while but keeping getting the phrase ‘by [name_m]Jove[/name_m]!’ In my head so that’s a no no!
[name_m]Jonty[/name_m] was on my list too but I spelt it wrong on original post !
