I havent posted on here for ages but I need opinions!!!
We have found out that we are having a baby BOY in [name]August[/name] (I have 9 weeks to go til our due date!) and we have narrowed our names right down but just cant decide between two middle name choices.
Here are the two options we are tossing up between:
Ezeriah [name]Ian[/name] [name]Smith[/name]
([name]Ian[/name] is my Dadâs name and means âGod is graciousâ)
Ezeriah [name]Cohen[/name] [name]Smith[/name]
([name]Cohen[/name] has been one of my favourite names for ages and means â[name]Priest[/name] or to supportâ)
Other middle names we have considered were:
[name]Campbell[/name] (After my hubbyâs best mate)
[name]Jonah[/name] (Because we both love the name & its biblical)
We already have a little girl named [name]Sienna[/name] [name]Hollie[/name]. Her middle name isnât after anyone significant, I chose it because I thought it flowed nicely with [name]Sienna[/name]
Thoughts/ideas/opinions are welcomed!!! Thanks
I think all of the mingle names work with Ezeriah but I would go with one that has meaning. It would great to honor your father with [name]Ian[/name] but if you have reservations about that I think [name]Campbell[/name] works very well with your daughters middle name as both are surname names.
I would always go with names that you love. [name]Ian[/name] is a nice gesture, but I think just on the sound of the names together I would go for [name]Cohen[/name]. Iâm looking for boys names for [name]August[/name] too so thanks for the ideas, I havenât thought of all of these before!
definitely [name]Ian[/name]. Probably because i know a great young man named [name]Ian[/name]. Short ,nice and sounds good with your first name pick ! Good luck , God Bless
Isnât [name]Cohen[/name] literally the title of a Jewish clergy member? If so, this would be like naming a kid â[name]Rabbi[/name]â or â[name]Priest[/name]â or something? If your not Jewish, Iâd ask someone who is, it may even be considered offensive (Iâve heard).
That being said, I like the idea of using [name]Ian[/name], since it has such family significance. And itâs short and sweet, pairs up well with a name like Ezeriah (though the flow isnât perfect).
Ack! It ate my reply. Please donât use [name]Cohen[/name] - it is significant in Jewish culture, and would be offensive to some. To me, if I met a kid whose first/middle name was [name]Cohen[/name], I would figure their parents were ignorant. Other people, who are more religious than I am, would find it offensive.
[name]Ian[/name] is significant to your family, so I encourage you to use it.
I think I prefer Ezeriah [name]Ian[/name] from the selections above. I think Ezeriah [name]Jonah[/name] sounds odd with the same ending sounds and for me, and [name]Campbell[/name] and [name]Cohen[/name] feel more current than biblical.
Thanks heaps for your suggestions! I didnt know that [name]Cohen[/name] is offensive thats news to us. I know a couple of little boys with that name so thought it was a nice name. The only reason Iâm hestitant to use [name]Ian[/name] is because my daughter doesnt have a significant family middle name and I wouldnt want one child favoured over the other. Am I being too picky? She probably wouldnt care haha. Also, if you have any further suggestions for other middle names that would flow nicely with Ezeriah please let us know! Now Im doubting both names. Dont really want to use [name]Campbell[/name] and [name]Jonah[/name] doesnt flow nicely thats the only reason we arent using itâŚHmmmm what to do?
