[name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I can’t seem to agree on a baby girl name. Our daughter is 4 and her name is [name_u]Riley[/name_u], and we both want a sister name that compliments hers.
Of your short list I think [name_u]Arden[/name_u] works best alongside [name_u]Riley[/name_u].
I love [name_f]Alice[/name_f], but it’s very classically feminine, whereas [name_u]Riley[/name_u] for a girl is a more modern, trendy, and neutral choice.
[name_u]Arden[/name_u] fits that without being too matchy.
[name_f]Margo[/name_f] works too. While older and more traditionally feminine like [name_f]Alice[/name_f], it has a punch that doesn’t make it feel too different from [name_u]Riley[/name_u].
I think [name_u]Riley[/name_u] & [name_u]Zuri[/name_u] would work very well together along with [name_u]Riley[/name_u] & [name_f]Margo[/name_f], But I much prefer [name_u]Zuri[/name_u]
I think that [name_u]Riley[/name_u] is super cute! Some beautiful ideas of names for her sisters are:
[name_u]Sage[/name_u], [name_u]Harper[/name_u], [name_u]Scout[/name_u] (@thenameprincess)
[name_u]Sage[/name_u], [name_u]Pepper[/name_u], [name_u]Nico[/name_u] (@katinka)
[name_f]Margo[/name_f]-I like this. I think that it goes well w/[name_u]Riley[/name_u]. It’s spunky, not super frilly, short, simple, etc.
[name_u]Arden[/name_u]-This is not my personal favorite, but I like it w/[name_u]Riley[/name_u]. And it’s different.
[name_u]Zuri[/name_u]-I don’t hate this. It seems a bit exotic next to [name_u]Riley[/name_u], honestly.
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]-This is my favorite from the list. What a sweet, beautiful classic. I wouldn’t say that it goes w/[name_u]Riley[/name_u] though. [name_f]Awesome[/name_f] name…just a totally different style.
A few ideas:
[name_u]Blair[/name_u]
[name_f]Branwen[/name_f]
[name_u]Kit[/name_u]
[name_f]Maisy[/name_f]
[name_u]Penny[/name_u]-better as a nn for [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] in general I think. But something about [name_u]Riley[/name_u] & [name_u]Penny[/name_u] is really cute!
From your list, I think I like [name_u]Arden[/name_u] the best with [name_u]Riley[/name_u]. It has that same spunk and is more modern. [name_f]Margo[/name_f] would be my second favorite.
I like [name_f]Alice[/name_f] but I don’t think it really goes with [name_u]Riley[/name_u].
What about [name_u]Riley[/name_u] & …
[name_f]Arielle[/name_f]
[name_u]Courtney[/name_u]
[name_u]Indigo[/name_u]
[name_u]Kelsey[/name_u]
[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]
McKenzie
[name_f]Natalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
I think [name_u]Arden[/name_u] suits [name_u]Riley[/name_u] best in that it’s also unisex. I adore [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Margo[/name_f] but they’re much more classic and feminine. If I heard about a [name_u]Riley[/name_u] and an [name_f]Alice[/name_f] or a [name_u]Riley[/name_u] and [name_f]Margo[/name_f] I would personally assume [name_u]Riley[/name_u] was a boy but that doesn’t really matter. Plus, I don’t always think it’s essential that siblings’ names match perfectly so really any of these work. Some other ideas:
From your list, I think [name_f]Margo[/name_f] and [name_u]Zuri[/name_u] share [name_u]Riley[/name_u]’s spunk and [name_u]Arden[/name_u] picks up on some of its style. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is beautiful but doesn’t sound as much like a sister for [name_u]Riley[/name_u] in my opinion–but honestly, if you end up going with it, [name_u]Riley[/name_u] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] will sound like natural sisters within minutes. So if you love it, I have no doubt it’ll work.
I love previous commenters’ suggestions of [name_u]Piper[/name_u], [name_u]Nova[/name_u], [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], [name_u]Sutton[/name_u], [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u], and [name_u]Hadley[/name_u]. I also wonder if you might like:
Overall, my favorite from your original list is [name_f]Margo[/name_f]. Otherwise, I think my favorites for you are [name_u]Emery[/name_u] and [name_u]Avery[/name_u]. Both pick up on the five-letter, ends-in-y theme of [name_u]Riley[/name_u] while bringing their own great sound. They’re both unisex but lean girl in terms of usage, just like [name_u]Riley[/name_u]. And both feel spunky, energetic, and fun, while also aging well–again, just like their big sister!
