Help please - down to two names and need advice

[name_m]Hi[/name_m],

My husband and I have narrowed our choices down to two:

[name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_f]Arwen[/name_f] [name_f]Cate[/name_f]

I love the name [name_f]Eve[/name_f] but feel like it’s too popular these days, especially with variants like [name_f]Eva[/name_f]? I love [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] too but I worry she’ll forever be associated with the [name_m]Lord[/name_m] of the Rings character.

Any thoughts or preferences?

[name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] is just beautiful and definitely the one I would choose. It’s much more feminine to me than [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] and popular because it is a lovely name. It is impossible to predict whether or not she will have other Eves in her class, etc. so only you can decide how much it would bother you. Another suggestion is to use a name that gets you to the nickname [name_f]Evie[/name_f] or [name_f]Vivi[/name_f] if you like those.

[name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] is gorgeous! So elegant. It contains some popular sounds, but I could not resist using it.

I like [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] [name_f]Cate[/name_f]. It’s unique and I like the flow

I’d go with [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] [name_f]Cate[/name_f]. I wouldn’t worry too much about the [name_m]Lord[/name_m] of the Rings reference, because the name is so beautiful it would be a shame to avoid using it just because of that. [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] is extremely strong, unique, and distinctive.

I’m in love with the combination you made - [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] - ah! Sophisticated sweetness

I love [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]! Popularity varies by region, where I live [name_f]Eve[/name_f] isn’t very common at all!

I love [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] [name_f]Cate[/name_f]. Not everyone will know the [name_m]Lord[/name_m] of the [name_m]Ring[/name_m] reference, and not a problem if they do. It wouldn’t put me off such a lovely name at all. It’s such an attractive, neat, under-used, feminine without being frilly name.

[name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] is a lovely combo, and I don’t always mind about popularity, but in this case there are so many names all in the top 100 (in Australia where I live anyway) that are similar: [name_f]Eve[/name_f], [name_f]Evie[/name_f], [name_f]Eva[/name_f], [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], [name_f]Ava[/name_f]. Both [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] [name_f]Cate[/name_f] and [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] are really lovely though irrespective of other issues.

[name_f]Arwen[/name_f] [name_f]Cate[/name_f] - beautiful and cool!

I like both of them-- maybe just see what she looks or seems like when she comes?

You probably already know this, but in case you don’t, [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] is a name in its own right in [name_m]Wales[/name_m] and is commonly used there. That being said, it does have a strong tie in with [name_m]Lord[/name_m] of the Rings, and for me it is closely tied to the book, which is why I wouldn’t use it. I also am not a fan of having nicknames as a legal name, so [name_f]Cate[/name_f] doesn’t work for me, but I know a lot of people who it doesn’t bother.

As for [name_f]Eve[/name_f], I think it is a lovely name, but if you are bothered by its popularity, maybe choosing a longer name that gets you there as a nickname? [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] is a familiar, and yet not very common, name that could get you there. However, [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] might have two much in common between the two names, depending on how your last name plays with it. If you want to go very unusual, [name_f]Yvette[/name_f] is another option, though once again, has issues when paired with [name_f]Juliet[/name_f].

I think as is, I like [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] better than [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] [name_f]Cate[/name_f].

[name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] for sure! So lovely.
