[name]Hi[/name] everybody,
We’re expecting our third daughter in three short weeks, and we’re not sure about names. First two daughters’ names are [name]Mira[/name] and [name]Orli[/name], both in memory of relatives. We are trying to decide between [name]Nina[/name] and [name]Dalia[/name] for our third girl. Thoughts? Other options? We’d like to find names that fit with our first and second daughters but aren’t too match-y. Our last name starts with an ‘L’ and we’d like to avoid names that start or end with this letter. Thanks so much for your ideas!!
I think [name]Dalia[/name] is best with [name]Mira[/name] and [name]Orli[/name]. [name]Nina[/name] is a bit bland next to their names. Here are some other suggestions.
[name]Noa[/name]
[name]Tova[/name]
[name]Aliza[/name]
[name]Ziva[/name]
[name]Aviva[/name]
[name]Adina[/name]
[name]Raisa[/name]
[name]Anya[/name]
[name]Sela[/name]
[name]Rivka[/name]
I prefer [name]Dalia[/name], because [name]Nina[/name] seems rather nondescript to me.
If you went with [name]Dalia[/name] you would have a little theme. " admirable" " light" and “gentle”. Those are all sweet, virtuous names. [name]Nina[/name] means girl. So while I like the sound of [name]Nina[/name] I would choose [name]Dalia[/name] just to give them a sibset connection.
I like [name]Dahlia[/name] best. It’s cute, yet mature and sassy. [name]Nina[/name] feels a bit stuffy to me.
[name]Dalia[/name] for sure:)
I love [name]Dalia[/name]!
[name]Dalia[/name]!!
Oh, and I am in love with the name [name]Mira[/name]. Totally. Pity my close friend named her daughter [name]Mara[/name]. :((
Another vore for [name]Dalia[/name]
[name]How[/name] about:
[name]Nova[/name]
[name]Luna[/name]
[name]Gaia[/name]
[name]Aria[/name]
[name]Petra[/name]
[name]Junia[/name]
[name]Enid[/name]
[name]Sari[/name]
[name]Kyla[/name]
[name]Gia[/name]
[name]Tali[/name]
[name]Tea[/name]
[name]Indi[/name]
[name]Zizi[/name]
Thank you all so much for the opinions and advice! I’m glad to hear that [name]Dalia[/name] is a strong contender…I really like the name and its meaning, but was worried it was too out there.
[name]Mira[/name] is named after my grandmother, whose full name was [name]Marila[/name]. I love the name [name]Mara[/name] too! I have a close friend named [name]Mara[/name] or we probably would’ve done that.
Oh, that is such a good point! Picking names with positive connotations is so important…not that I don’t love a little girl-power, but [name]Dalia[/name] probably does connect better with the sibs.
[name]Hi[/name] [name]Mischa[/name],
Thanks so much for the ideas! [name]Noa[/name] is one of my favorite names, but my other nephew is [name]Noah[/name], so I think I’d probably offend my sis by picking something that sounds so similar. I love the other names on your list…and I think your name is awesome, too! Is it a nickname?
Personally, I think [name]Mira[/name], [name]Orli[/name], and [name]Nina[/name] are the best sibset.
[name]Dalia[/name]'s a beautiful name though, I don’t think it’s too out there at all. Depends on where you live though.
I second the [name]Nina[/name] vote! [name]Dalia[/name] seems to throw the other two names off. Plus, [name]Nina[/name], [name]Mira[/name], and [name]Orli[/name] all have four letters, and [name]Mira[/name] and [name]Nina[/name] are somewhat similar in style.
Also, I just really love [name]Nina[/name] with the sibs.
Actually, [name]Nina[/name] has more than just the Spanish meaning of “girl”.
It’s a Russian diminutive of [name]Antonina[/name]/[name]Antonia[/name] which means “Priceless”.
In Quecha, a Native American language it means “[name]Fire[/name]”.
And also the name of two mythological figures.
i think [name]Dalia[/name] fits better, and it’s one of my favorites too.
I vote [name]Dalia[/name]!
I really prefer [name]Nina[/name].
[name]Nina[/name] sounds exotic, as do [name]Mira[/name] and [name]Orli[/name].
[name]Dalia[/name] does too, but in a different way, if that makes sense. [name]Dahlia[/name] is a flower and it sounds more like a British name. [name]Nina[/name] means girl in Spanish and is also a popular Russian name.
However, I dislike that it ends in A, like [name]Mira[/name], and seems too matchy.
