We have a [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] and are considering the name [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], but I’m worried two H names are a bit matchy matchy. What are everyone’s thoughts on this? Would you do it? Or pick another name so the children have different initials as they grow up?
Thanks in advance!
I’ve always liked kids to have different initials but I don’t think those names are too matchy! While they both start with an H I think they go their separate ways right after that! I do like when they have different initials that everyone can have personalized stuff without confusion but since they’re different genders I think you can get away with it! Question is that if you want/have more kids would you feel pressured to continue the theme!
Harriet and [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] sound adorable together!
I don’t think it is a problem to have the same first initial for two children but if you are intending to have a third you might feel pressure to find another H name and fit the pattern or face feeling like number three is the ‘odd one out’ of the sibset.
I share an initial with my sister, and while I didn’t love it growing up, it wasn’t a problem! If you love both of the names, they are absolutely not too close. The only consideration is what you would do for possible future children.
I think it’s absolutely fine, and I don’t think it locks you into following that pattern for a 3rd child or anything like that. [name_m]Just[/name_m] two gorgeous names you love that happen to start with the same letter.
