Help please!

One of my [name]FAVORITE[/name] names for boys is [name]Friedrich[/name]. Pronounced [name]Free[/name]-drick. I love this name so much, but I don’t get a good response for it. A lot of people ask if it’s made up. It’s a [name]German[/name] name, but I don’t even know if it is popular in Germany. Is this name usable, or will I have to sadly take it off my list? I really love it, but I don’t like keeping names on the list that there is no possibility of me ever using. Advice?

I’ve only heard it used as a last name. Are there any more English variants of the name you like? Those might go over better.
If you really love it, use it. It’S not like you are naming him something awful like Ar’[name]Mani[/name].

Hmm, It seems obvious to me it’s the [name]German[/name] form of [name]Frederick[/name]. I’m surprised people would ask if you made it up.
Famous Friedrichs include philosophers [name]Friedrich[/name] Nietzsche, [name]Friedrich[/name] Engels and poet [name]Friedrich[/name] Schiller.
I think it’s a nice name & If you love it keep it on your list.

Hmmmm. I’m guessing you live somewhere without a lot of recent [name]German[/name] heritage, or a lot of international folks? That doesn’t bear well for future reactions, or future prn or spelling. The prn in [name]German[/name] isn’t really Freedrick quite either, it’s a hissy kind of sound instead of k at the end. Not that you can’t say it Freedrick : D, but I just think ppl really might guess fried rich or something.

I mean, once people learn it, they will get it. You could do it. I quite like it. What would a nickname be, [name]Freddy[/name]? Could you do [name]Frederick[/name] but give him the pet name of [name]Friedrich[/name]?

Good luck!

[name]Friedrich[/name] was the name of one of the sons in the Sound of [name]Music[/name] as well, I personally love the name but I love in Pennsylvania where there is alot of [name]German[/name] heritage so I have heard it here before as well.
