I am here because hubby and I are stuck for a name. I have an almost 4 year old son named [name_m]Jakob[/name_m]. He is amazing. When we found out he was a boy I knew I wanted to named him [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] but wanted to use the k spelling. There were no fights and from about week 24 on we called him that.
Now we are pregnant with baby 2 and this one will be a girl. We are kind of stuck on a name.
We have some ideas but would love your opinion.
[name_u]Camryn[/name_u] - yes this spelling. We like it this way.
Sorry I can’t get the edit function to work so the list continuation should be
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_u]Charlie[/name_u]
[name_f]Karina[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]
[name_f]Alayna[/name_f]
[name_u]Allie[/name_u]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]
[name_f]Talia[/name_f]
[name_f]Jaelyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Harlow[/name_f]
[name_u]Sydney[/name_u]
[name_u]Quinn[/name_u]
My favorites from your list are [name_f]Olive[/name_f], [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], and [name_f]Gemma[/name_f]! I think they all work well with [name_m]Jakob[/name_m]. I think [name_m]Jakob[/name_m] and [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] is my favorite, though. Good luck!
From your list, I really adore [name_f]Talia[/name_f] - [name_m]Jakob[/name_m] and [name_f]Talia[/name_f] together are lovely!
Stylistically you’re sort of all over the map, and some of your names are more my taste than others, but the only one I’d eliminate for sure is [name_f]Jaelyn[/name_f], because I think it would sound too similar to [name_m]Jakob[/name_m] if, for example, you yelled either across a playground.
The others I like best, with [name_m]Jakob[/name_m] in mind: [name_f]Gemma[/name_f], [name_u]Sydney[/name_u], [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], [name_f]Summer[/name_f], [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], [name_f]Chloe[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], [name_f]Willa[/name_f], [name_f]Karina[/name_f] (why isn’t [name_f]Karina[/name_f] more popular? Such a great name), and [name_f]Harlow[/name_f]. Try saying each out loud with the surname and that may help you narrow down your list.
Some other suggestions if you’re looking for more:
I really like [name_f]Willa[/name_f] and [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] with [name_m]Jakob[/name_m], there’s a really cool international vibe to them together. [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_f]Olive[/name_f] are lovely as well!
I think with [name_m]Jakob[/name_m] you’ve really got a blank slate to choose whatever you like for a sister name. It’s a timeless classic, but the “k” spelling gives it a more modern, international twist. You could go in either direction for his little sister’s name and it would work [name_f]IMO[/name_f].
My favourites on your list are [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], [name_f]Olive[/name_f] and [name_f]Willa[/name_f]. [name_m]Just[/name_m] a thought: if you like [name_f]Willa[/name_f] and [name_f]Harlow[/name_f], might you like [name_f]Willow[/name_f]?
With [name_m]Jakob[/name_m] I like [name_u]Arya[/name_u], [name_f]Summer[/name_f], [name_f]Willa[/name_f] and [name_f]Talia[/name_f] from your list. I think my favourite though is [name_f]Willa[/name_f].
[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there! I think you’re in the same “Babies Due [name_u]July[/name_u]-[name_f]September[/name_f]” group as me, and your due date is coming right up! Maybe you’ve already agreed on a name, or maybe you won’t see this until after your daughter is born, but from your list and with your son’s name in mind, I really like:
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]
[name_f]Talia[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
— [name_f]Willa[/name_f] is strong, sweet, and spunky all at once. It has a classic worldliness yet feels fresh and modern. It’s short enough not to need a nickname but I know of a [name_f]Willa[/name_f], named after her mother, who goes by [name_u]Billie[/name_u]. It’s my favorite with [name_m]Jakob[/name_m].
— [name_f]Talia[/name_f]'s great. I’m surprised I don’t hear it more often or meet more Talias. [name_m]Jakob[/name_m] and [name_f]Talia[/name_f] work together and on their own.
— [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] is usually a little too sing-songy to me, but it feels really fun and poppy and light alongside sturdier [name_m]Jakob[/name_m].
I like that [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] shares its first sound with [name_m]Jakob[/name_m] but doesn’t share the initial. They sound like brother and sister but are not too “matchy-matchy.”
— [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] is a lovely name. Paired with [name_m]Jakob[/name_m], it sounds charming and old-fashioned.
Best of luck with her impending birth! [name_m]Feel[/name_m] free to check in with with our due date group!
[name_m]Jakob[/name_m] is such a traditionally masculine name and the ‘k’ spelling feels very European and quirky.
Therefore I feel the unisex options on this list like [name_u]Camryn[/name_u] and [name_u]Londyn[/name_u] (prefer [name_u]London[/name_u] spelling wise) don’t really work as a sibling for [name_m]Jakob[/name_m]. However they could work as a middle name. [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_u]Camryn[/name_u] is pretty for example.
Onto [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] & [name_u]Arya[/name_u]; I can see the appeal in [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] it’s a youthful [name_m]French[/name_m] choice but I am not keen on this name as for [name_u]Arya[/name_u] she’s pretty but I dislike this spelling with [name_m]Jakob[/name_m] it feels to try-hard.
Regarding [name_f]Summer[/name_f] she’s a pretty upbeat choice, conjuring up lovely images of holidays, beaches, and ice-cream but [name_m]Jakob[/name_m] spelt this way feels very stylistically different therefore I’m not keen.
[name_f]Sophia[/name_f] & [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] are very popular choices for obvious reasons they are lovely names but both [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] & [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] feel predictable with [name_m]Jakob[/name_m]. I would switch it up and use the spelling [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] (gives the name that European flair too) and use [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Amelia[/name_f].
Moving onto ‘Oliv’ I assume we are talking about [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] or [name_f]Olive[/name_f]. [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] feels to trendy with [name_m]Jakob[/name_m]. But [name_f]Olive[/name_f] feels spunky and refreshing.
So this leaves me [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] & [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]. [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] is so old school Hollywood glamour she’s stunning, she just lovely. [name_m]Jakob[/name_m] & [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] sound lovely really vintage and cool. I also like the [name_f]Addie[/name_f] nickname for [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]. [name_m]Jake[/name_m] & [name_f]Addie[/name_f] are really cute. [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] is just as lovely as [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]. For me [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] feels more popular but teamed with [name_m]Jakob[/name_m] unlike [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] etc she doesn’t feel predictable. [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] has lovely connotations with the Odyssey and a range of adorable nicknames.
My favourites are [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] & [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] : )
[name_u]Camryn[/name_u] - Okay, but I prefer the spelling [name_u]Cameron[/name_u].
[name_f]Sophia[/name_u] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] it, but a bit too common for my liking.
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] - Really cute, especially with nn [name_f]Millie[/name_f].
[name_f]Chloe[/name_f] - Cute.
[name_u]Arya[/name_u] - Not a fan of it. I used to pronounce it incorrectly when I was little, and now I can’t get used to the correct way.
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] - Cute nn [name_f]Penny[/name_f].
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f] - Seems to me too old-fashioned and old-ladyish.
[name_u]Londyn[/name_u] - I really like this twist on [name_u]London[/name_u].
[name_f]Summer[/name_f] - I like all the season names, but especially this one.
Oliv - definitely prefer [name_f]Olive[/name_f]. Oliv is unfinished.
