I am due in [name_u]January[/name_u] with my first baby. [name_f]My[/name_f] partner already has a little boy called [name_u]Lincoln[/name_u] so our names need to go with this.
We are struggling with a name if the baby is a girl ( which I’m sure means it will be
[name_f]My[/name_f] other half didn’t like my favourite names of [name_f]Etta[/name_f], [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] or [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] and I’m not keen on his favourite of [name_f]Lucille[/name_f].
Our front runner at the moment is [name_f]Betty[/name_f]. This is one of his nans names and it has really grown on me. Bit stuck on a middle name for this and have come up with [name_f]Betty[/name_f] [name_u]Blue[/name_u]. Not sure if this is a bit cartoony for an actual child and could really do with some other peoples opinions.
Some other names we like too are [name_f]Nellie[/name_f], [name_u]Camille[/name_u] and [name_f]Elsie[/name_f].
Any suggestions for a middle name for [name_f]Betty[/name_f] or another first name suggestions will be welcome!
I think [name_f]Betty[/name_f] is a sweet vintage nickname that could definitely be used today. Personally I have a preference towards using a longer full name, like [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] or [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f], with the nickname [name_f]Betty[/name_f] (I think [name_f]Betsy[/name_f] is also great). [name_f]Betty[/name_f] [name_u]Blue[/name_u] made me think of [name_f]Betty[/name_f] Boop, so I do think it might be a bit too cartoon-y. [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_u]Blue[/name_u] might work, if you’re interested in using a longer form of [name_f]Betty[/name_f].
With [name_u]Lincoln[/name_u], I think [name_u]Camille[/name_u] goes best out of the options you mentioned. [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] and [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] are also cute, but definitely have more of a nickname feel than [name_u]Lincoln[/name_u]. [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] or, again, [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], might be good full-name options.
Some other ideas in the same vein as [name_f]Nellie[/name_f], [name_u]Camille[/name_u], and [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]…
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f]
[name_f]Edith[/name_f] nn [name_f]Edie[/name_f]
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f] nn [name_f]Hattie[/name_f]
[name_f]Lena[/name_f]
[name_f]Nina[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_f]Zoe[/name_f](y)
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]/Aubrey
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f]/Amelia/Emilia
I will second bounceparty and say that I think [name_f]Betty[/name_f] is better as a nickname for [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Elsbeth[/name_f] or [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]/Beatrice. [name_f]Betty[/name_f] [name_u]Blue[/name_u] is a bit sugary, but [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_u]Blue[/name_u] “[name_f]Betty[/name_f]” could be just the right amount of sweet.
Maybe…
[name_f]Betty[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f]
[name_f]Betty[/name_f] [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Betty[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f]
Good luck!
Thinking in terms of using [name_u]Blue[/name_u] as a middle. I did a name generator search using all your names you through out and below is what turned up that I think go with that as a middle and with [name_u]Lincoln[/name_u] as a sibling.
Dorothy
[name_f]Elsa[/name_f]
[name_f]Coralie[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]
[name_f]Edith[/name_f]
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Celia[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Delphine[/name_f]
[name_f]Colette[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_f]Calla[/name_f]
In terms of what you listed I think [name_u]Camille[/name_u] goes the best with [name_u]Blue[/name_u]. I love [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] personally of all your choices. [name_f]Betty[/name_f] as an actual name inthink is a little nicknamey and doesn’t go with [name_u]Lincoln[/name_u] (neither does [name_f]Nell[/name_f]).
I do have a friend that goes by [name_f]Bette[/name_f] but her fn is [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. So if you wanted to use [name_f]Betty[/name_f] or [name_f]Nell[/name_f] I’d suggest them as nn’s to best go with [name_u]Blue[/name_u] and [name_u]Lincoln[/name_u].
Betty is a nickname to me, though I can see [name_f]Betsy[/name_f] as a full name somehow (and I like it better).
Betty [name_u]Blue[/name_u] sounds like a comic book character to me, [name_f]Betty[/name_f] Boop, etc.
Also, since you want the name to go well with [name_u]Lincoln[/name_u], a name with enormous gravitas and the cool nn [name_m]Linc[/name_m], I think you need something more substantial for the girl. [name_u]Lincoln[/name_u] and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], nns [name_m]Linc[/name_m] and [name_f]Betty[/name_f] sounds good to me. Though maybe [name_u]Lincoln[/name_u] goes by his full name, in which case, you definitely need a more full, solid name than [name_f]Betty[/name_f].
Lincoln and [name_u]Camille[/name_u] work, but [name_u]Lincoln[/name_u] and [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] and [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] are a bit like serious [name_u]Lincoln[/name_u] with nicknamey [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] or [name_f]Elsie[/name_f].
I wonder if he would like a longer etta name like [name_f]Marietta[/name_f] or [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] or [name_f]Jeannette[/name_f]? Instead of [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], might he like [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] or [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]? And instead of [name_f]Sunday[/name_f], maybe [name_f]Season[/name_f] or a month name or [name_f]Tuesday[/name_f]? And for you, instead of [name_f]Lucille[/name_f], [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f], [name_f]Lucretia[/name_f], [name_f]Lucilla[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Cilla[/name_f]), [name_f]Lucasta[/name_f], [name_f]Lucerne[/name_f]?
The full name [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] or [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] could be nicknamed to any of [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], [name_f]Etta[/name_f], or [name_f]Betty[/name_f], if you want to go there! (Or my personal favourite, [name_f]Libby[/name_f], which feels stylistically right for you and can sound similar to but not matchy with [name_u]Lincoln[/name_u].) I agree that [name_f]Betty[/name_f] [name_u]Blue[/name_u] sounds a little cartoon-y as an official name but I do think it would be sweet as a nickname.
I really like [name_f]Betty[/name_f], it’s sweet and soft. However, I find [name_f]Betty[/name_f] [name_u]Blue[/name_u] too cartoonish, it’s very cutesy. Maybe [name_f]Betty[/name_f] [name_u]Rue[/name_u]?
Betty [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Betty[/name_f] [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Betty[/name_f] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]
[name_f]Betty[/name_f] [name_f]Meadow[/name_f]
[name_f]Betty[/name_f] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Betty[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Betty[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Betty[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Betty[/name_f] [name_f]Imogen[/name_f]
[name_f]Betty[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]
I like [name_f]Betty[/name_f] and think it can stand on its own (especially with names like [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] & [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] & [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] on the rise) [name_f]Betty[/name_f] [name_u]Blue[/name_u] maybe a little cartoonish but again I don’t think it’s over the time top and would work well.
I’d also suggest…
Betty [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Betty[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Betty[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u] ([name_f]Betty[/name_f] [name_u]Lou[/name_u] is also pretty cute!)

[name_f]Betty[/name_f] [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f]

[name_f]Betty[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f]

Betty [name_u]Blue[/name_u] is so adorable! It sounds a bit like a cartoon name but I think that makes it sweet.
I agree with @bounceparty [name_f]Betty[/name_f] is nice but much nicer as a nickname from something longer.
Definitely google [name_f]Betty[/name_f] [name_u]Blue[/name_u] before using it! There is an old nursery rhyme called [name_m]Little[/name_m] [name_f]Betty[/name_f] [name_u]Blue[/name_u] (i don’t think it’s well known — I’d never heard it until we were given a book of rhymes from the 60s/70s), and when I did a search to try to find the nursery rhyme the first result was for a [name_u]French[/name_u] erotic film called [name_f]Betty[/name_f] [name_u]Blue[/name_u]
What about [name_f]Lucetta[/name_f]? It combines names you and your partner like… [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] and [name_f]Etta[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Lucetta[/name_f] sounds awesome with [name_u]Lincoln[/name_u]. Similar vibes and style. [name_f]Lucetta[/name_f] also has some cute nickname potentials, [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Etta[/name_f], Setty. I also REALLY like the vibe of [name_f]Lucetta[/name_f] [name_u]Blue[/name_u]! Very cool and jazzy!
Betty is a great name, if you both love it go for it! IMO opinion though it has a very different style from [name_u]Lincoln[/name_u]. [name_f]Betty[/name_f] [name_u]Blue[/name_u] is adorable, but a little too cutesy and cartoony and a hard name to grow into.
Good luck!
Betty has really been growing on me recently, and [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] is my favorite girl’s name, so I think I might be able to help! (Also, [name_f]Betty[/name_f] [name_u]Blue[/name_u] is the cutest thing ever! [name_u]Blue[/name_u] is definitely a guilty pleasure for me!)

[name_f]Betty[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]
[name_f]Betty[/name_f] [name_u]Anne[/name_u]
Sorry for any repeats!
There’s a french film called [name_f]Betty[/name_f] [name_u]Blue[/name_u] which is beautiful but a little harrowing, so I would probably stear clear of that combo.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Betty[/name_f] though! And the suggestion of [name_f]Lucetta[/name_f] is great too (love [name_f]Etta[/name_f]).
I like [name_f]Betty[/name_f] on it’s own. [name_f]Betty[/name_f] [name_u]Blue[/name_u] is a bit too kitschy for me but if you get the greenlight from your partner I say let it rip. How about [name_f]Betty[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]? It’s in the same old timey realm as [name_u]Lincoln[/name_u] but also cute but not too cutesy, ya know
