I agree I love [name_u]River[/name_u] as well, I’m not as fond of [name_u]Leo[/name_u] for the middle name but I guess it depends on how it flows with the last name. I like the idea of the classic middle name with the more unique first name. I vote [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u]
I absolutely LOVE [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_u]Leo[/name_u]. I think it flows very well and they’re both super cute names. It’s hard not to overthink your baby’s name, but you said it’s been your favorite name forever, so I think you should just go with your heart. I think if you went with [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] you would definitely regret it later since you don’t seem to love it.
[name_u]River[/name_u] [name_u]Leo[/name_u] is very handsome! I remember when I was pregnant I overthought it and it ended up really confusing me in terms of my preferences. I think when you think about a name endlessly it can take the shine off it a little but if you’ve loved it for a long time I bet it’ll feel right when your son arrives. In saying that, [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] is also a lovely option.
Stick with [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_u]Leo[/name_u]! [name_u]Leo[/name_u] also feels pretty classic to me, even though it’s had a comeback lately. There are popes called [name_u]Leo[/name_u] and it has a long history of use. I think it’s much more fun and dynamic than [name_u]James[/name_u], and flows nicely both with [name_u]River[/name_u] and a longer surname.
[name_u]River[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] is a nice combo too but [name_u]James[/name_u] is very well used as a middle, and it sounds like you have no compelling reason for picking it.
Oh I love [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_u]Leo[/name_u], it’s perfect! There’s nothing wrong with [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] but I really would stick with your original choice!
Thank you !!! Yes, I don’t really have much reason for [name_u]James[/name_u]. There was a time when I thought [name_u]James[/name_u] was such a cute perfect middle name but it’s become very overused in my opinion. I really also liked [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_u]Leo[/name_u] because I love [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] and [name_u]Leo[/name_u] DiCaprio Single mom here, so it’s all me coming up with the name! Thank you for your feedback!
How many syllables does your last name have? Which name has the better flow when said aloud?
Is there another form of [name_u]Leo[/name_u] you might consider? [name_m]Leon[/name_m], [name_m]Leonard[/name_m], [name_m]Leonidas[/name_m], [name_m]Leonardo[/name_m]. [name_f]Do[/name_f] any of them flow better? Look better in print?
Not knowing your last name and how it will work, [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_m]Leonardo[/name_m] is interesting to me. [name_u]Or[/name_u] maybe something like [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] for a traditional name that is a little less common than [name_u]James[/name_u], though I do like [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u], as well.
I think [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_u]Leo[/name_u] sounds good with a “three syllable german last name starting with Van” like you described. I prefer [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_u]Leo[/name_u] to [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u], both because [name_u]James[/name_u] is used so much, because it sounds more meaningful to you, and also I like the mental picture it gives me of a lion by a river whereas I don’t picture anything for [name_u]James[/name_u].
However, I also don’t think you need to worry too much about the middle name since most people use only their first name most of the time, whatever you love most will be fine. If you are confident in your first name choice, that is the most important thing.
[name_u]River[/name_u] is beautiful! On one hand, I think that [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] flows a tad better. However, [name_u]Leo[/name_u] is a little bit more unexpected for a mn. [name_u]James[/name_u] is very handsome, but kind of a filler mn, you know? So, I think that my vote goes to [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_u]Leo[/name_u].
Personally I prefer the sound of [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u]. Maybe it would help if the middle had special significance to you? Does [name_u]Leo[/name_u] or [name_u]James[/name_u] have that? Both names sound nice.
