I am almost 100 percent positive our next baby (if its a boy) will be named [name]Augustin[/name] [name]Theodore[/name]. I do really like it and so does my husband and it is so rare to find a boy name we both like. We just have different styles.
I’ve mentioned it to a few people and the response has been mixed. My mom loves it (but I think she has great taste in names She named me [name]Annabel[/name] 25 years ago before it was popular and was torn between than, [name]Eleanor[/name] and [name]Clementine[/name])
But others I’ve told have said that it’s weird or not really usable in the US. I love the nickname [name]Gus[/name] and that is what I would call him a lot of the time. My husband prefers Auggie which is fine too.
So I really want to make a commitment to the name and just have it set in stone before we start TTC like we did for my son ([name]Leo[/name] [name]Alexander[/name]) but these comments have me wavering.
So please help sell the name [name]Augustin[/name] to me! [name]Do[/name] you like it? [name]Do[/name] you think it’s over the top? Does it go well with [name]Leo[/name]?
[name]Augustin[/name] sells itself! It’s totally wearable. It’s not ranked high exactly, but it’s been in the top 1000 long enough that it’s familiar. I’ve met two in my life, both cool dudes, one who went by [name]Gus[/name], one who went by [name]Augustin[/name] full out. It’s an all around fantastic names, and with today’s naming trends, no one will bat an eye.
I love it…though I slightly prefer [name]August[/name]. The only negative I can think of regarding [name]Augustin[/name], and I may be incorrect on this, but was it the chubby Germanic kid in [name]Charlie[/name] & the Chocolate Factory?..or maybe that was [name]Augustus[/name]. But probably no longer relevant in any case.
[name]Augustin[/name] is one of my top choices for a boy, and I live in the US as well. I think it’s completely wearable. It sounds a sort of royal, while the nn [name]Gus[/name] brings it back down to the real world. [name]August[/name] or [name]Augustus[/name] are other options if you are still unsure about your pick, but I think [name]Augustin[/name] [name]Theodore[/name] is just perfect.
It’s not really my taste. Maybe because my only sibling is named [name]Austin[/name], so I’m a little biased, that I’d suggest going with that instead.
Sorry for the late reply, my son has been sick for the past several days so I haven’t had time to check nameberry.
Thank you guys so much for your reassurance that it’s not a total out there name I really hate that I mentioned the name to my friend because the comments really are making me rethink it!
