Help: Sibling for Lucy

[name_m]Hi[/name_m], we need some help coming up with a name for a sibling for my daughter. We have a name for a boy, but if the baby is a girl, we are completely lost! My daughter’s name is [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]. We named her after the character in the Chronicles of [name_f]Narnia[/name_f] by C.S. [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]. I am drawn to simple names, not too flowery or girly. Bonus points if there is literary significance. My husband likes the name [name_u]Scout[/name_u], which I like, but I’m not totally in love with. Help please! Thanks!

My top recommendation would be [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] {and} [name_f]Alice[/name_f].

To me, [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] are equivalent “core classic” names.

And, like [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f] has literary significance :).

I agree. [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] just go together perfectly.

What about [name_f]Claire[/name_f]? I think that it is equally as classic and beautiful!

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] is perfect with [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]!

Or…

[name_f]Amy[/name_f] (from [name_m]Little[/name_m] Women)
[name_f]Cosette[/name_f] (from [name_u]Les[/name_u] Miserables)

[name_f]Rose[/name_f] (from [name_u]North[/name_u] Child)
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] (from A Series of Unfortunate Events)

Thank you!! We love [name_f]Alice[/name_f]! [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t know why I never thought of that. Also, [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] are favorites. Now to narrow it down to one and pick a mn…

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and… [name_f]Nora[/name_f], which also means “light”?

I adore the whole [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] connection. [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] through the wardrobe and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] through the looking glass… both to become queen! What is [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]'s middle name, if I may ask? I was thinking [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is very pretty. What kind of middle are you looking for?

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. I usually like simple middle names, but [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is pretty!

If you still want simple then I would suggest [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] make a splendid sibset and they have the same number of syllables. If you don’t mind a longer middle then I can’t think of anything better than [name_f]Josephine[/name_f].

[name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] ‘jo’ or [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] ‘[name_f]Meg[/name_f]’
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] in Wonderland, [name_m]Little[/name_m] Women, A Wrinkle in Time respectively

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] (boxcar children)
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] (in Wonderland)
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] ([name_m]Potter[/name_m])
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_u]Harper[/name_u] (To Kill/Mockingbird)
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_u]Romy[/name_u]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_f]Margot[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] ([name_m]Tuck[/name_m] Everlasting or the Pooh…)

I vote [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f]! Something magical about the stories behind both their names, parallels in their journeys. And not one name outshines the other. I find them equally timeless, adorable yet adult, and of the same general era. I would love to meet sisters [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] or [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]
