DS2 due imminently and we still can’t agree on a name! DS1 is [name]Oscar[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name], surname is [name]Perry[/name]. Wish we hadn’t ‘wasted’ [name]Sebastian[/name] as a MN, as I love it!
Other options:
[name]Leo[/name] - love, but getting very popular in UK where many of our family live
[name]Luca[/name] - love, but it is my first cousin’s name. I very rarely see him - once every 5 years? - but not sure if it would be considered ‘weird’? My DS1 is named after my late grandfather from the same side of the family
[name]Milo[/name] - also love, but DH’s family are Australian and it is the name of a very popular chocolate milk drink over there. They would be very
by our choice!
[name]Max[/name] - quite like this, but not sure if ‘[name]Max[/name] [name]Perry[/name]’ sounds a bit too blunt? Doesn’t excite me hugely, and ‘[name]Maximillian[/name] [name]Perry[/name]’ sounds a tad pretentious [name]IMO[/name]
[name]Evan[/name] - DH’s nephew’s name (although we never see him)
[name]Alastair[/name] - Really like how this sounds with [name]Oscar[/name], but hate all the nicknames - [name]Al[/name], [name]Ali[/name] - and it will invariably get shortened
[name]Arlo[/name] - Think this is cute but my family will probably object!
Middle name will probably be [name]Alexander[/name] or [name]Alessandro[/name] (unless we chose [name]Alastair[/name]/ [name]Arlo[/name] as the first name). [name]Love[/name] [name]Alexander[/name], but too popular for us to consider as a first name.
PLEASE HELP!
[name]Oscar[/name] and [name]Leo[/name] would make a great pair! [name]Do[/name] you live in the UK, too? If you do, I understand, but if your child will mostly grow up in the US (or wherever you are), then I don’t think that’s a big deal. I wouldn’t let popularity put you off something that you love and that works so well, esp. if it’s just some of the family in an area where it’s growing.
I also like [name]Oscar[/name] with [name]Evan[/name] (if you pretty much never see them, it’s fine), [name]Milo[/name] (could you do [name]Miles[/name] with nn [name]Milo[/name]?), and [name]Arlo[/name] (what about using [name]Arlo[/name] as a nickname for [name]Charles[/name] or [name]Arnold[/name]? I like just [name]Arlo[/name], though, and the family’ll come around!). I actually think [name]Oscar[/name] and [name]Alistair[/name] are too close, and that plus the nicknames would knock it off my list. I don’t love [name]Luca[/name], but if it’s really hitting you, I wouldn’t eliminate it because of someone you rarely see. I just think when you mention it to him, it’d be easy enough to laugh, “Well, we just loved the sound of it!”
Other ideas: [name]Oscar[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name] and…
[name]Winslow[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] (nn [name]Win[/name])
[name]Jude[/name] [name]Alexander[/name]
[name]Everett[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] (nn [name]Ever[/name], Rev, or [name]Rhett[/name])
[name]Levi[/name] [name]Alexander[/name]
[name]Eli[/name] [name]Alexander[/name]
[name]Conrad[/name] [name]Alexander[/name]
[name]Hugo[/name] [name]Alexander[/name]
[name]Amos[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] (or some other middle) (nn [name]Ace[/name])
[name]Cyrus[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] or [name]Silas[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] (nn [name]Cy[/name]/[name]Si[/name])
[name]Dominic[/name] [name]Alessandro[/name] (nn [name]Dom[/name], [name]Nic[/name], or even Minnow when he’s little)
[name]Tobias[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] or [name]Tobin[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] (nn [name]Toby[/name])
[name]Calvin[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] (nn [name]Cal[/name])
To be honest if you live in the UK and you are worried about popularity I’d avoid [name]Leo[/name] and [name]Max[/name], and possibly even [name]Luca[/name]. [name]Leo[/name] rose from 36th to 27th most popular boys name and I think it will continue to rise too. [name]Max[/name] rose 3 places as well, and is already the 20th most popular name.
[name]Luca[/name] is popular in my area, I know a lot of [name]Luca[/name]'s under the age of 5 years old.
[name]Arlo[/name] is probably my favourite on your list, followed by [name]Milo[/name] - which I love with [name]Oscar[/name]. Have you considered [name]Miles[/name] with the nn [name]Milo[/name] then to avoid the chocolate drink association being so obvious? [name]Miles[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] would fit perfectly with [name]Oscar[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name].
[name]Oscar[/name] and [name]Max[/name] do work really well together, its just too popular for me.
Forgot to add another name we like: [name]Stellan[/name]. I think ‘[name]Stellan[/name] [name]Perry[/name]’ sounds nice but again, family will most likely be :???:
I think [name]Stellan[/name] is okay. I like it better than [name]Max[/name], [name]Luca[/name], and [name]Evan[/name] with [name]Oscar[/name]. [name]Arlo[/name] is still my fave from your list; if you’re going to baffle your family, do it with awesome [name]Arlo[/name]!
Bumping for more input, please!
