Due in a couple weeks and think we have narrowed our first names down to [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f]. However, we are stuck on a MN for [name_f]Nora[/name_f]? This happened with our fist daughter too and I left it to “we will decide when we see her” which didn’t work so well for us, no surprise I am even more indecisive after labor and little sleep! I want to be a bit more prepared this time!
[name_f]Nora[/name_f] is my husbands first choice. I like it but, it feels very serious to me and I think it needs something feminine in the middle to kick it up a notch. Our short list contains: [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], [name_f]Kate[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Isobel[/name_f], but none of those seem right. Our last name starts with M, not sure if that means the MN shouldn’t begin with M, as in [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]? Also, last name ends in eee sound. I like [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_u]Everly[/name_u] but double eee sounds a bit much when said all together.
Secondly, we have a very Irish last name and I am concerned that [name_f]Nora[/name_f] seems almost too matchy with our last name? Considering we don’t live in [name_f]Ireland[/name_f] and I’m not even Irish. Any thoughts? Maybe I am just way overthinking this…
Thanks in advance for what I know will be a huge help!
[name_m]How[/name_m] interesting for you to bring up this topic! [name_f]My[/name_f] OH and I are thinking of [name_f]Norah[/name_f] and his surname is also very Irish and begins with M. We like [name_f]Norah[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] or [name_f]Norah[/name_f] [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]. From your list I love [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]. I think my favourite is actually [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] Good luck!
I think [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f], and [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] are all great! [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] I like less due to the back to back r syllables begin slightly awkward.
[name_f]Nora[/name_f] does not strike me as obviously Irish–I think it is more mainstream than that now. So I wouldn’t think it to be too much at all with a Mc- surname. [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] strikes me as much more Irish(/Scottish) sounding. Though I love that combo too.
So… [name_f]Nora[/name_f] is my favorite girls name at the moment (as a nickname for something) and my name is [name_f]Kate[/name_f], so if I had a baby today, her name would be [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]!!! Haha. So that’s a winner And I agree with emsky-- [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] sounds like too much R. Here’s some suggestions.
[name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] (based on your love of [name_u]Everly[/name_u])
[name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] ([name_f]Rose[/name_f] name)
[name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_u]Whitney[/name_u]
[name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f]
[name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Vivianne[/name_f]
[name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
