Help suggest names based on my likes :)

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all. Recently pregnant here and so very excited to go down the rabbit hole of choosing names again! We are team green and have a little boy already named [name_m]Rupert[/name_m]. We want to avoid R names again if possible. I like uncommon names that are still able to be pronounced without too many weird looks or stumbling over how to say it. Would love your thoughts on names similar to my style.

Names I love but unsure if we’ll use for various reasons. [name_m]Feel[/name_m] free to comment on my list!

[name_m]Elmo[/name_m] - Loving this at the moment but is it too [name_f]Sesame[/name_f] [name_f]Street[/name_f]?

[name_m]Wilkie[/name_m] - Already one in the family.

[name_m]Homer[/name_m] - Too Simpsons?

[name_u]Quincy[/name_u] - Too soft/feminine?

[name_m]Marcel[/name_m] - Too [name_u]French[/name_u]?

[name_m]Truman[/name_m] - I love this one but is it too out there? Is it bad that the boys have the same sounds as Ru and [name_m]Tru[/name_m]?

[name_m]Woodrow[/name_m] - A bit of a tongue twister with [name_m]Rupert[/name_m] when saying their names together?

[name_u]Ellis[/name_u] - Too feminine? Might get confused with [name_f]Alice[/name_f].

[name_m]Fraser[/name_m] - Hubby doesn’t like.

[name_m]Elton[/name_m] - Too [name_m]Elton[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m]?

[name_m]Herschel[/name_m] - Too out there? [name_m]Can[/name_m]’t think of any nicknames.

If it helps, girl names we like are mostly soft, pretty, feminine names like [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], [name_f]Harriet[/name_f], [name_f]Nancy[/name_f], [name_f]Annie[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], [name_f]Elowen[/name_f]. I don’t think “the one” is there either. Still working on girl names!

Congratulations! I love [name_m]Truman[/name_m], [name_u]Quincy[/name_u], and [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] from your list.

Some suggestions:

[name_m]Enzo[/name_m], [name_u]Winslow[/name_u], [name_u]Crosby[/name_u], [name_m]Laszlo[/name_m], [name_m]Harvey[/name_m], [name_m]Franklin[/name_m], [name_u]Jasper[/name_u], Linus

Elmo - very cute, but it is very ties to [name_f]Sesame[/name_f] [name_f]Street[/name_f].
[name_m]Homer[/name_m]- not my favourite, and it is very tied toThe [name_m]Simpson[/name_m]’s.
[name_u]Quincy[/name_u]- definitely not too feminine! The only [name_u]Quincy[/name_u] I know is a man (technically - he’s in his early 20s lol) and I find it extremely difficult to imagine it on a girl.
[name_m]Marcel[/name_m]- it is very [name_u]French[/name_u], but it’s a nice name!
[name_m]Truman[/name_m]- I don’t think this is too out there at all! Cute name
[name_m]Woodrow[/name_m]- I don’t think it’s a tongue twister with [name_m]Rupert[/name_m]. I do think it’s very tied to [name_m]Woodrow[/name_m] [name_m]Wilson[/name_m], though.
[name_u]Ellis[/name_u]- also not at all too feminine!
[name_m]Elton[/name_m]- very [name_m]Elton[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m], although I personally think of [name_m]Elton[/name_m] from Clueless lol
[name_m]Herschel[/name_m]- I don’t think it’s too out there, but it’s not my favourite. Also makes me think of the Hershey’s company.

I excluded [name_m]Wilkie[/name_m] and [name_m]Fraser[/name_m] since they seem off the table for you.

Love [name_m]Franklin[/name_m] from @starless’s suggestions!

[name_m]Milton[/name_m]
[name_m]Eugene[/name_m]
[name_m]Bernard[/name_m]
[name_u]Sidney[/name_u]
[name_m]Clarence[/name_m]

I quite like [name_m]Elton[/name_m] (my favorite) and [name_u]Quincy[/name_u], but I think any of them would work!

Welcome to Nameberry! [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m], [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m], and [name_m]Rufus[/name_m] come to mind right away. I think [name_m]Woodrow[/name_m] and [name_u]Quincy[/name_u] would be perfect!

Elmo & [name_m]Homer[/name_m] & [name_m]Fraser[/name_m] - Too much association with their TV show for me to get on board with

Quincy - I don’t find it feminine, but I like Q names. Perhaps [name_m]Quinton[/name_m] or [name_u]Quill[/name_u] would be more to your liking?

Marcel - I really love this name. There’s a TV show, The Originals, where a very strong character is given this name because of the meaning “little warrior”

Truman & [name_m]Woodrow[/name_m] - I’m not a big fan of president names. But I like the nn [name_m]Tru[/name_m], perhaps [name_m]Truett[/name_m]? The nn is a bit feminine but I still like it for a boy

Ellis - I agree, this one is more feminine to me

Elton - If you guys are a fan of [name_m]Elton[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m], then I think it’s a great name. But if you only know one or two songs, bigger fans may ask you about your name choice and be disappointed when you can’t have a conversation about the artist. [name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_f]Michelle[/name_f], named after a song by The Beatles. [name_f]My[/name_f] whole life, older folks have randomly sung the song to me and asked me about my opinion on The Beatles. But my parents raised me with the music, so I can easily hold a conversation about it and it’s always very pleasant (apart from strangers singing to me… I’ve never liked that…)

Herschel - I’ve only heard this on The Walking Dead. The character was an old white man who was [name_u]Christian[/name_u] and very kind, strong, wise. Later, his daughter has a baby with a Korean man and names their son [name_m]Herschel[/name_m]… I cringed because I don’t think the name fits a baby at all. I just thing of it as an older person name…

My suggestions:

August / [name_m]Augustus[/name_m]
[name_u]Bellamy[/name_u]
[name_m]Caspian[/name_m]
[name_u]Finley[/name_u]
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_u]Jensen[/name_u]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]

Ellis, Marcel, Quincy, & Herschel are defintely my favorites with Rupert

I love [name_m]Rupert[/name_m]’s name, and your list so far is awesome! What a fantastic list and style. Old and established, yet quirky and unexpected! I particularly love [name_u]Quincy[/name_u], [name_m]Marcel[/name_m], [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] & [name_m]Fraser[/name_m]. Such a shame about [name_m]Fraser[/name_m], I would really encourage [name_m]Marcel[/name_m]! I don’t think “too french” is an issue. It’s not like [name_m]Mathieu[/name_m] or [name_m]Thibault[/name_m] where pronunciation will be an issue.

My suggestions, going off [name_m]Rupert[/name_m] and your list here:
[name_m]Rupert[/name_m] & [name_u]Maguire[/name_u]
[name_m]Rupert[/name_m] & McCoy

Hi there.

Here are my thoughts on your list:

Elmo-Yes, way too [name_f]Sesame[/name_f] [name_f]Street[/name_f].

Wilkie-There’s a [name_m]Wilkie[/name_m] in your family? I’ve never even heard this name! It’s cute though.

Homer-I associate it w/Homer [name_m]Simpson[/name_m], personally. Great show, but not a cute character to associate w/your little babe.

Quincy-I don’t think it’s too feminine. It’s cute w/Rupert. Kind of quirky & unexpected.

Marcel-I don’t know that it’s too [name_u]French[/name_u]. It’s kind of fun. Not my favorite, but different.

Truman-Hm. Kind of a cool name, but [name_m]Rupert[/name_m] & [name_m]Truman[/name_m] may be a tad rhyme-y.

Woodrow-It is hard to say w/Rupert, & it’s not my style. The nn [name_m]Woody[/name_m] just seems like a bad idea.

Ellis-People do use it for girls sometimes, but I think it’s smart & handsome on a boy.

Fraser-Your hubby doesn’t like it? Too bad. This one seems perfect w/Rupert.

Elton-Yes, too [name_m]Elton[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m] I think.

Herschel-I don’t know…it just reminds me of Hershey.

Here are a few more ideas that you may like:

From your suggestions I like [name_u]Crosby[/name_u] and [name_m]Grover[/name_m]. Though [name_m]Grover[/name_m] is another [name_f]Sesame[/name_f] [name_f]Street[/name_f] name :joy:

Thank you for the welcome  [name_f]My[/name_f] son was actually almost named [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m]! I still do like the name, but I hesitate on it for some reason. I think I don’t love the “Am” pronunciation in my accent, and the “[name_f]Rose[/name_f]” part is a little feminine. I love [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] and [name_m]Rufus[/name_m], but they are unfortunately too close to [name_m]Rupert[/name_m].

Thank you for your comments  Interesting standpoint regarding [name_m]Elton[/name_m], I hadn’t really thought of it that way.
From your list I like: [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m].
