It would be one thing if you were giving your daughter a name that conjures up images of a pole dancer on its own (names like [name]Sable[/name], [name]Velvet[/name], [name]Sapphire[/name], etc. come to mind), but I think that [name]Gemma[/name] is a perfectly wonderful, classy name (basically unknown in the U.S.).
Wait. I just Googled the star, and, um, I saw that if your daughter Googles her full name, she’ll, um, receive a very detailed lesson in human anatomy. Sorry to flip-flop, but I wouldn’t be able to use [name]Gemma[/name] M____ now, either!

I simply Googled “[name]Gemma[/name] Pornstar” (my motive was to see if the images were available to all viewers, or if they were images that required a membership to view…I was hoping for the latter, because without available graphic images, I thought you could still use [name]Gemma[/name] without a problem), and was sad to see the images are very available…and, uh, graphic.
I’m not sure if the [name]Gemma[/name] who popped up is the one to whom you referred, but I’m guessing it is. I’m trying to see the positive here, so if that was your last name, I think a lot of your names work with it.

Well, if you live in the US then chances are, no one else will get the film star connection. But I wouldn’t use [name]Gemma[/name] if the connection really bothers you. If you live in Europe…well, it’ll depend on how famous this [name]Gemma[/name] is. But if you live in Europe, then I would discourage [name]Gemma[/name] anyway because it is very 80s, like the [name]Tiffany[/name] of the UK. I do love [name]Gemma[/name], so its a bummer you can’t use it without any worries, but I know two sisters named [name]Gemma[/name] and [name]Georgia[/name] in the US. Perhaps [name]Georgia[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is a better choice? I like [name]Gianna[/name] [name]Grace[/name] as well, it is similar to [name]Gemma[/name].
I read this kid’s book - I forgot the title . . . grr - and the main character was named [name]Gemma[/name], though her full name was [name]Gemima[/name] or [name]Gemina[/name], or something like that. . . . I think it’s a good idea to give thinking about it a break. Let everything soak in and it may not bother you as much later. Normally I would probably just say it would be best to pick a different name, but I just love [name]Gemma[/name] [name]Grace[/name] so much! I can’t decide whether this is one of those cases in which you should pick the name regardless of its drawbacks because of how much you love it or not…
Keep the name. You love it and no one knows who you are talking about. Adult film stars are not mainstream and she’s also abroad. She’ll also most likely be a flash in the pan (I can’t imagine an adult film star having a long career!). I don’t know of the famous ones from the US (although I don’t watch the stuff).
I live in the UK and have never heard of the porn star, she cannot be that famous outwith people who watch adult films. To be honest it wouldn’t bother me if I had a name linked to this, as I doubt many people would know.
