I am trying to come up with more than one (1) actual potential girl combo my partner and I might both find usable. The problem is, we have so many restrictions! I am hoping if I lay it ALL out here, some of you may be able to help!
[name_m]Rule[/name_m] #1: No names of cousins, nieces, etc. This eliminates a LOT of names we might otherwise like, as I have a huge family. The most relevant no-nos:
[name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f]
Any [name_f]El[/name_f]- names
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Autumn[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
Any [name_f]Gwen[/name_f]- names
Millie/Mildred
[name_f]Esther[/name_f]
[name_f]Naomi[/name_f]
[name_u]Quinn[/name_u]
Genevieve/Jeannette/Jennifer/etc.
[name_f]Martha[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f]
[name_m]Rule[/name_m] #2: Must not be too common, but not too obscure either. Partner is quite skittish about uncommon names, while I’m easily bored by names I’ve heard too much. This means [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], etc. are out for me while the likes of [name_f]Cassiopeia[/name_f] & [name_f]Hannelore[/name_f] are out for him.
[name_m]Rule[/name_m] #3: Must be easy to spell & pronounce in [name_f]English[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] partner is (very) dyslexic and is only familiar with [name_f]English[/name_f] and ASL.
[name_m]Rule[/name_m] #4: Must flow well with last name. The name sounds like a combination of [name_f]Austria[/name_f] and [name_m]Astro[/name_m] (and I have a bit of a lisp), so hopefully not too many repeating consonant sounds, and no “au” or “-o”, please.
[name_m]Rule[/name_m] #5: As timeless as possible despite not being too popular. Partner has a preference for millennial names and my preference is for older vintage names, so something that appeals to both sensibilities would be great.
[name_m]Rule[/name_m] #6: Must NOT have initials that have any negative connotation (neutral things are fine) – partner is sensitive about this as his initials are… not good. Fun initials could be a bonus, though. Last name begins with O.
[name_m]Rule[/name_m] #7: Preferably nothing that starts with E, J, R, or B as a first name!
Bonus: If you can find a way to honor [name_f]Susannah[/name_f], Sheryl/Shay, [name_f]Christine[/name_f], and/or [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] without using any of those names (altho [name_f]Christine[/name_f] could be okay as a middle)
Names he’s vetoed: [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], [name_f]Annabel[/name_f], [name_f]Sally[/name_f], [name_f]Lavender[/name_f], May/Mae, [name_f]Dawn[/name_f], Remi/Remy
Names I’ve vetoed: [name_f]Brittany[/name_f], [name_f]Megan[/name_f]
Names we both like at least a little bit: [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f], [name_u]Brooke[/name_u], [name_u]Mallory[/name_u], [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], [name_u]Harmony[/name_u]
Names we’ve picked out for kids already: [name_u]Jude[/name_u] [name_m]Elwyn[/name_m], [name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f] “Emmy”, [name_u]Harper[/name_u] [name_m]Matthew[/name_m]
Combo suggestions only, please!
