HELP! Trying to commemorate dad!

My father and I had “a song” together. Since he passed, I can’t hear it without thinking of him. We danced to it at my wedding, and I’ve been thinking about it for my daughter.

The song is “[name_f]Tupelo[/name_f] [name_f]Honey[/name_f]” by [name_u]Van[/name_u] [name_m]Morrison[/name_m], and the name I’m thinking of is [name_f]Tupelo[/name_f] (of course).

Is that too out there??

In my mind it’s really pretty… but maybe that’s just because I love the song…

I don’t think ANYTHING is too out there today! It’s unique and different, and to me have a super southern ring when I say it out loud. If you love it, use it. If you think it is too out there, it’s a fun middle too!

No, I think it’s lovely, and what a great story behind the name too. I’d probably use it as a middle of it were me, but as a first… why not?

[name_f]Honey[/name_f] would also work well if you wanted something slightly more mainstream.

I think it works, especially because it has such sweet personal meaning to you. It’s unusual but nature names are fashionable nowadays, so it fits in well with all the water and gem and bird names, not to mention other trees like [name_f]Maple[/name_f], [name_u]Oak[/name_u], and [name_m]Birch[/name_m]! I would pair it with a somewhat more ordinary middle name so that she has the option if she dislikes being the only [name_f]Tupelo[/name_f] in school (or put it in the middle spot if that feels like enough of an honor to you).

I think I prefer Tuppence, like the actress Tuppence Middleton, it just depends on how comfortable you are really.

[name_f]Tupelo[/name_f] [name_f]Delphi[/name_f]
[name_f]Tupelo[/name_f] [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Tupelo[/name_f] [name_u]Murphy[/name_u]

[name_f]Honey[/name_f] [name_u]Colby[/name_u]
[name_f]Honey[/name_f] [name_u]Dakota[/name_u]
[name_f]Honey[/name_f] [name_u]Ira[/name_u]

[name_u]Van[/name_u]:
[name_f]Vanessa[/name_f] Amor “Knights in armor bent on chivalry, She’s as sweet as [name_f]Tupelo[/name_f] honey”
[name_f]Vanora[/name_f] [name_f]Tea[/name_f]/h “You can take all the tea in [name_f]China[/name_f]”
[name_m]Vance[/name_m] [name_f]Belle[/name_f] ([name_u]Van[/name_u] [name_m]Morrison[/name_m] born in Belfast)

[name_m]Morrison[/name_m] [name_f]Asia[/name_f] “You can take all the tea in [name_f]China[/name_f]”
[name_m]Morrison[/name_m] [name_f]Amber[/name_f]
[name_m]Morrison[/name_m] [name_f]Bea[/name_f] “She’s as sweet as [name_f]Tupelo[/name_f] honey, [name_m]Just[/name_m] like honey from the bee”

It is achingly lovely.

I almost cried just reading that. I’m sorry he passed away, and I know how you feel. My dad doesn’t talk to me because I decided to have a baby 4 years ago. I miss him. But I’m sure you miss yours more. I’m dearly sorry for your loss.

I love that you want to honor him with a song.
It’s sweet and has so much meaning.

I love the name [name_f]Tupelo[/name_f] [name_f]Honey[/name_f]. It’s sweet and unique, and you should just use it, not just the first name.

You can also give her alot of cute nicknames like [name_f]Tulip[/name_f], Elo, [name_f]Honey[/name_f], and [name_m]Tip[/name_m].

[name_f]Tupelo[/name_f] is a fine name.

I think you should use the full song title. [name_f]Tupelo[/name_f] as her first name and [name_f]Honey[/name_f] as her middle name.

I love it for it’s sentiment. If it seems too out there for you and you feel uncomfortable thinking about having to justify her name every time you meet someone new, then use it in the middle! If you feel joy thinking of telling that story over and over when you introduce her, then it’s the perfect first name! Good luck.

I think [name_f]Tupelo[/name_f] sounds cute! I looked for names that mean honey for middles. Didn’t find anything that seemed to flow. But I did find [name_f]Melissa[/name_f] (honeybee) and [name_f]Melina[/name_f] (little honey.) [name_f]Melissa[/name_f] is beautiful if a little dated. [name_f]Melina[/name_f] seems more modern though. [name_f]Melissa[/name_f] [name_f]Tupelo[/name_f] or [name_f]Melina[/name_f] [name_f]Tupelo[/name_f] sounds so sweet to me.

Actually, [name_f]Tupelo[/name_f] [name_f]Melina[/name_f] could work, too!!

I like unusual names, but I’m not a fan of [name_f]Tupelo[/name_f]. I’d prefer to see you use [name_f]Honey[/name_f] as a middle to honor.

Maybe as a middle name.

I like it! [name_u]True[/name_u], it’s a little out there, but the sentiment is lovely and the word itself has a nice sound, so I think it works. I agree with some of the previous posters that if you’re uncertain about it you could use [name_f]Tupelo[/name_f] as a middle name, but I think it’s nice as a first too, especially if you pair with a more common/classic middle name.

(I might be a little biased because I walked down the aisle to the same song.)

[name_f]Tupelo[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Tupelo[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f]
[name_f]Tupelo[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Tupelo[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]

[name_f]Tupelo[/name_f] is a place name just like [name_u]Cheyenne[/name_u].
There was a girl named Tallahassee on a TV show, nn Hassee.
No one has a problem using [name_u]London[/name_u], [name_u]Paris[/name_u], [name_u]Milan[/name_u], [name_f]Vienna[/name_f] as baby names, so why not use the names of USA cities as well?
[name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] and [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] are cities in Massachusetts.
Any map offers endless name ideas.
I think [name_f]Tupelo[/name_f] [name_f]Honey[/name_f] sounds perfect. [name_f]Honey[/name_f] makes a great middle as well as an option for her to use it as a first if she wants to drop [name_f]Tupelo[/name_f], but I bet she won’t.
I read local honor roles and there are dozens of kids with the same name in any HS list, in fact when I see an unusual name, I write it down!
As I’ve said before, my neice was one of 13 Isabellas in junior high (7th & 8th grade) yet ppl go right on still naming more and more Isabellas!
I say YAY for [name_f]Tupelo[/name_f] [name_f]Honey[/name_f]! [name_m]Even[/name_m] without the connection to your dad, it’s a great name!

I think it’s pretty.

I’ve not seen it before - it’s unusual indeed, but it’s got a great look and sound (so gentle & whimsical), and I think it’s the perfect nod to your relationship with your father.

What about [name_f]Tupelo[/name_f] [name_f]Honey[/name_f] as middles? Did your dad have a name that has a feminine version you could possibly use as a first name?
