Help!-twin naming problems

My name is [name]Lavender[/name] [name]Cordelia[/name]. I’ve always loved my name and wanted to find something as equally different for my children. We’re adopting twins. A girl and a boy. So far my husband and I like [name]Althea[/name] [name]Ellington[/name] and [name]Theodore[/name] [name]Augustus[/name].
We liked [name]Althea[/name] first and later found [name]Theodore[/name]. But the names are so similar. Is it too noticeable that we’re naming our kids [name]Theo[/name] and [name]Thea[/name]? Help?!

[name]Do[/name] ya’ll have any after the fact naming mistakes?

I don’t think [name]Althea[/name] and [name]Theodore[/name] are too close but [name]Theo[/name] and [name]Thea[/name] definitely are. I would suggest using nicknames that aren’t so similar, such as [name]Theo[/name] and [name]Ally[/name] or [name]Teddy[/name]/[name]Ted[/name] and [name]Thea[/name].

I like that idea. Are there any other nicknames that could work? We’d love something modern.

I love the names you’ve chosen!!! So exquisite. And to me, they make an excellent pair for a boy/girl twin set. If you decide to call them [name]Thea[/name] and [name]Theo[/name], that would be too close, but not if you call one with the nn and the other with the full name or both with the full name. I like pansy’s suggestion of [name]Ted[/name]/[name]Teddy[/name] and [name]Thea[/name], or [name]Theo[/name] and [name]Allie[/name]/[name]Alie[/name]/[name]Ally[/name]/[name]Aly[/name] if you want to use nn’s for both. Or using [name]Althea[/name]'s mn, [name]Ellington[/name] to get the nn [name]Ellie[/name], if you want to use [name]Theo[/name] and don’t like [name]Alie[/name].

I would love for you to keep the names the way the are, I just can get over how striking, elegant and robust they are!

I just thought of some other possible nn’s for [name]Theodore[/name] [name]Augustus[/name]- [name]Thor[/name], [name]Augie[/name], [name]Gus[/name], [name]August[/name], Augus - Ok, I think I’ve exhausted the nn possibilities now haha.

[name]Allie[/name] and [name]Theo[/name] would work wonderfully!

We decided on the nicknames [name]Teddy[/name] and [name]Vida[/name]. We love that [name]Vida[/name] means life and it would very subtly honor a family member.
