I am thinking ahead to baby names and would like to give our child a 2-syllable classic and preppy name that avoids any unintentional humiliation along the lines of [name_m]Seymour[/name_m], [name_m]Dick[/name_m], or [name_m]Harry[/name_m]. I like the names [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], but think they too should be avoided (A Big [name_u]Gal[/name_u] Butts or [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] aka [name_f]Lotta[/name_f] Butts).
For a boy, what do you think of [name_m]Christian[/name_m] or [name_u]Jameson[/name_u] (nn [name_u]Jaime[/name_u]) with our last name? For a girl, any thoughts on [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f], or [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u]?
Yes, this is an unfortunate last name and basically, whatever you decide, I think kids will find a way to do something with it-- definitely avoid the obvious targets though. I would not do [name_m]Christian[/name_m] because it can be used as a noun. [name_u]Jameson[/name_u], [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], or [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] are fine-- [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] is nms.
[name_m]Christian[/name_m] ia handsome, but could be shortened to [name_u]Chris[/name_u] i.e. “Kiss Butts;” I don’t see any problem with [name_u]Jameson[/name_u]. I have always liked [name_u]Jameson[/name_u] "[name_u]Jamie[/name_u]"and I thinks it’s a solid choice!
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f] could be shortened to [name_f]Carrie[/name_f], which could easily become “hairy [name_f]Carrie[/name_f] Butts.” [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] and [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] Butts sound fine to me. If you truly want classic, go with [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f].
Suggestions:
[name_m]Edward[/name_m]
[name_m]Charles[/name_m]
[name_m]Alexander[/name_m]
[name_m]Matthew[/name_m]
[name_m]David[/name_m] “[name_m]Dave[/name_m], [name_m]Davy[/name_m]”
[name_m]Leonard[/name_m] “[name_m]Leo[/name_m]”
[name_u]Drew[/name_u]/[name_m]Andrew[/name_m]
[name_u]Reagan[/name_u]
[name_f]Samantha[/name_f]
[name_u]Taylor[/name_u]
[name_f]Madelyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f]
I think children can make fun of any name if they really want to so other than very obvious connotations I would just go with what feels right to you.
[name_u]Jameson[/name_u] is gorgeous, I love it.
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is my favourite from your list or how about
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Camille[/name_f]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_f]Love[/name_f] that you’re considering [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] with the s
I would definitely avoid [name_m]Christian[/name_m] - as someone else said it can be used as a noun, so his full name would risk sounding like religious bottoms…
My choices would be [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] or [name_u]Jamie[/name_u].
