Help us choose her name!

Would love to hear from you all! We have a list of girls names and I love them all for different reasons. I need to have 10 baby girls! But for now I am having one, and would love some input. What goes well with her big brother named [name_m]Graham[/name_m]? [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t want her name to be too common, but classic and familiar. [name_m]Feel[/name_m] free to suggest middle names and other names you think fit. Excited to hear your thoughts!

Here is our list:

[name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], [name_f]Elinor[/name_f], [name_f]Judith[/name_f], [name_u]Vivian[/name_u], [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f], [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f], Meili, [name_f]Lydia[/name_f], [name_f]Greta[/name_f]

Thanks in advance!

I think my top 3 from your list are:

[name_m]Graham[/name_m] & [name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_m]Graham[/name_m] & [name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_m]Graham[/name_m] & [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]

That being said I hear [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] (and [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]) & [name_f]Alice[/name_f] a pretty good bit around Nameberry so I’m sure how common they are in the real world where you are.

Ingrid, Audrey and Vivian are my favorites from your list. Great options! I was considering Ingrid at one point (nn Indie) and Ingrid Magnolia was my favorite combo.

COMMENTS:

  • [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f] is pretty, but will often get misspelled ([name_f]Gweneth[/name_f], [name_f]Gwenyth[/name_f], and so on)
  • I prefer the traditional [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] spelling over [name_f]Elinor[/name_f]
  • Meili looks weird, and I’m not 100% sure how to pronounce it – is it ‘may-lee’?

[name_m]Graham[/name_m] and [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] are darling!!

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_m]Graham[/name_m] and [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] together!

I like the idea of siblings named [name_m]Graham[/name_m] and [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]. They’re relatively modern but still classics. If I were in your situation and that was my list it would be my pick.

I think [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_u]Vivian[/name_u], [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f], and [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] would all be great, but since you are trying to narrow down, I’d say…

[name_m]Graham[/name_m] and [name_f]Lydia[/name_f]…or maybe [name_m]Graham[/name_m] and [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]! Definitely one of those two. [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_f]Lydia[/name_f]? [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]? I’m not sure about the flow of those actually, if i say them out loud. Maybe [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f] as a mn for one of those?

Personally I prefer separate first initials for siblings, so in my mind that automatically eliminates [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f] and [name_f]Greta[/name_f] as firsts.

Yes, Meilli is different for sure, that is how you pronounce it, ‘may-lee’, with the emphasis on the [name_u]LEE[/name_u], chinese for ‘pretty’, my husband has some chinese connections, but it doesn’t work as well with [name_m]Graham[/name_m] or really fit our style. Thanks for helping me think through it.

I love all these replies, it is making things very clear. Thank you! Keep them coming!

From your list I most like [name_m]Graham[/name_m] & [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]. Another spelling, equally adorable [name_f]IMO[/name_f], is [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]. I also like [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] and [name_f]Lydia[/name_f]. Not a huge fan of Meili or [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f], though.

1 [name_m]Graham[/name_m] and [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] - I think these two are lovely together
2 [name_m]Graham[/name_m] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] - my mn so I’m biased!
3 [name_m]Graham[/name_m] and [name_f]Judith[/name_f] - I don’t hear [name_f]Judith[/name_f] very much anymore. It’s quite refreshing.

Honorable Mentions: [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] and [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f]

With [name_m]Graham[/name_m], I love [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], [name_f]Lydia[/name_f], and [name_f]Alice[/name_f].

FAVORITES: [name_f]Elinor[/name_f], [name_u]Vivian[/name_u], [name_f]Lydia[/name_f], [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
LIKE/NEUTRAL: [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f], [name_f]Greta[/name_f], [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f]
DISLIKE: [name_f]Judith[/name_f], Meili, [name_f]Alice[/name_f],

I am not a fan of siblings with the same initial so even though [name_m]Graham[/name_m] and [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f] match stylistically it’s just neutral for me. I also don’t feel like [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] and [name_f]Greta[/name_f] (again with the 2 G’s) really pair well with [name_m]Graham[/name_m] it’s not awful or anthing but I like the other names much better.

[name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], [name_f]Elinor[/name_f], [name_f]Judith[/name_f], [name_u]Vivian[/name_u], [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f], [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f], Meili, [name_f]Lydia[/name_f], [name_f]Greta[/name_f]

I think these are all lovely names, I think the best fits for your criteria and sound really nice with [name_m]Graham[/name_m] would be: [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_u]Vivian[/name_u], [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f], [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] and [name_f]Greta[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] personal favorite is [name_f]Alice[/name_f] second choice [name_f]Lydia[/name_f]. I also really love [name_f]Judith[/name_f] but it isn’t too fashionable right now, I don’t think that has to be a deal breaker but that is why I picked the other names over it. Meili and [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] are pretty but very different from [name_m]Graham[/name_m], but that isn’t a big deal, it just depends on how much you care about matching sibling names. [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] is one of my favorite names but the spelling [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is the most well known so it will be misspelled all the time, more-so than the usual for any name. I love [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], (I still really want to use it) but if you are looking for a name that isn’t popular this isn’t the way to go, at least in the US, the name [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] (and it’s spelling variants like [name_f]Aubree[/name_f]) are really popular and [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] both looks and sounds very much like it. I would think there would be a fair amount of confusion and since they are both popular the perceived popularity of both names is going to be much higher.

I love [name_f]Lydia[/name_f]. It sounds great with [name_m]Graham[/name_m] too!

Another vote for [name_f]Lydia[/name_f]. It’s a timeless, elegant name and it sounds great with [name_m]Graham[/name_m].

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] is the one that really jumped out at me as a perfect sibling name for [name_m]Graham[/name_m]. But, I also am quite partial to the [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] spelling, so wanted to throw in my support for that one as well!

[name_f]Alice[/name_f]- Cute and a classic with adorable nicknames, plus goes perfectly with [name_m]Graham[/name_m]! [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]- Feminine and fancy name with lots of spunk!
[name_f]Elinor[/name_f]- Great name with great nickname options and is truly elegant!
[name_f]Judith[/name_f]- NMS, but is a cool choice and again, lots of nicknames!
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u]- Great option, and lots of spellings, [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] and [name_m]Graham[/name_m] sound so cute!
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f]- Again, NMS, but is very cute and is a refreshing and new choice
[name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f]- Adorable name! Really stunning name! [name_m]Graham[/name_m] and [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f] are alliteration, if that isn’t a problem… Than this is my top pick!
Meili- NMS but is a cool name with lots of spirit and uniqueness!
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]- Feminine and sweet! Very striking name paired with [name_m]Graham[/name_m]!
[name_f]Greta[/name_f]- Amazing name that is wonderful when put with [name_m]Graham[/name_m]!

Favorites when paired with [name_m]Graham[/name_m]: [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f], [name_f]Elinor[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f], and [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]
Like when paired with [name_m]Graham[/name_m]: [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], [name_f]Lydia[/name_f], and [name_f]Greta[/name_f]
Okay when paired with [name_m]Graham[/name_m]: [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f], [name_f]Judith[/name_f], Meili

Congrats! [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helped!

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] is beautiful. That is definitely my pick.

Alice - I loooove Alice and it works so well with Graham. This is my top pick on your list for the sibset!

Audrey - My favorite name and if I don’t get to use this I will be devastated! I love Audrey and it also works. It’s a little frillier than Alice though and Graham isn’t frilly at all so that’s why my vote is for Graham & Alice.

Elinor - I dislike this spelling. My name is Erinn and having an uncommon spelling name has caused me more trauma than you know. Since Eleanor is more common, I would really suggest not using this. There’s a difference between an unusual name and a usual name spelled “wrong” that only an Erinn can say!

Judith - This feels very old lady to me. I much prefer June, Juniper, Juliana, Jules.

Vivian - Another one that usually feels old ladyish but it works well with Graham and has a plethora of beautiful nicknames.

Ingrid - I dislike this one; simply, it’s not my style and clunky. It does not look well next to handsome Graham.

Gwyneth - I generally dislike sibsets that have two of the same initials.

Meili - This is a new name you introduced me to! I like Meili a lot, but it is a very different style from Graham and the other names on your list, so I am surprised to see it here. It is beautiful, though.

Lydia - My best friend is named Lydia and she wears it well. This is a classic, gorgeous name and it would probably be on my list if it weren’t for my friend.

Greta - Another of the same initials thing.
