I’m not understanding the teasing aspect. What would that be? I personally prefer [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], but both names would work well.
Use both! [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] [name_m]Charles[/name_m] or [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m]?
Ugh I hate even writing this. It’s the “gay” at the beginning. (Off to Purell my brain, I feel gross just acknowledging that anyone could be gross enough to mock that)
@Susanna202, I don’t understand the teasing thing either. I saw that you said it might be the “gay” beginning but I really don’t think that it’s an issue at all.
I too doubt that there would be a teasing issue with [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m]—it’s a fairly popular name now, which helps too.
But I’m a bigger fan of [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]—I think it still leans more boy than girl.
[name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] and [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] are two long-time favorites of mine! I had honestly never associate [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] or [name_m]Gabe[/name_m] with the word gay, in all 30 years or so since I’ve known a [name_m]Gabe[/name_m] in the 80s. The growing unisex nature of [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] brings to mind the name [name_u]Jesse[/name_u] for me–a name that will always be more masculine and is more edgy/tomboy on a girl, rather than becoming a girly name. If I had to choose between them, I’d probably pick [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m]–both because I like it just a little bit more and because it sounds better with his siblings. [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] and [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] are too sing-songy for me.
I would have automatically said [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] as it’s one of my favourite names but having read that your children are called [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] and [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] I changed my mind and chose [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] as I feel it is better fitting with your children’s names.
I haven’t heard a single “gay” joke in about 10 years, so I think [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] will fit in just fine.
[name_m]WAY[/name_m] too many little girls named [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] in recent years!
Name him [name_m]Charles[/name_m]. [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m]. He’ll thank you when he’s in college or when he becomes a doctor.
I have a friend who named her son [name_u]Jaimey[/name_u]. He’s now 40, fat and bald.
They do grow up and become doctors and lawyers so I’d use the cute nn for the cute little kid stage.
Yes of course - birth certificate would be [name_m]Charles[/name_m], nn [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]
I much prefer [name_u]Charlie[/name_u].
I like [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] and I don’t think there will be an issue with teasing.
I voted for [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] because I thought you meant [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] as the formal name, which I’m not a fan of. [name_m]Charles[/name_m] and [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] (nns [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and [name_m]Gabe[/name_m]) are both great options!
I think either [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] and [name_m]Charles[/name_m] would fit nicely with [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] and [name_f]Zoe[/name_f], but my personal vote goes to [name_m]Charles[/name_m]. I like [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] as a nickname over [name_m]Gabe[/name_m]. As far as the teasing potential goes, I’d say that if your last name doesn’t start with a B, it’s unlikely the ‘gay’ sound will stick out from [name_m]Gabe[/name_m].
[name_m]Thomas[/name_m], [name_f]Zoe[/name_f], and [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]!
[name_m]Charles[/name_m] with the nickname [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] is lovely. Not a fan of the nickname [name_m]Gabe[/name_m], but that’s just personal preference, I don’t think he would be teased for it.
