Yesterday we received confirmation that our third child will be a girl! We have two boys, [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] and [name_m]Miles[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]. We use family names for middles. We have [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f], Lamorna and [name_u]Joyce[/name_u] as possible middles, we are happy to use two middle names. These are the front runners so far. Which one is best with our boys’ names? We have a one syllable common [name_f]Asian[/name_f] last name.
[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f], [name_f]Camilla[/name_f] or [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]?
I love [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f], and I think it goes very well with [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] and [name_m]Miles[/name_m]. [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_u]Joyce[/name_u] is quite nice.
Oh I love [name_f]Camilla[/name_f] [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f]! [name_m]Miles[/name_m], [name_m]Isaac[/name_m], and [name_f]Camilla[/name_f] sounds like a lovely little crew to me.
My second choice would be [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] - I feel like I see [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] eveywhere lately.
[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] are amazing! Since you already have an M- name with [name_m]Miles[/name_m], I’d choose [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] so they all have different initials.
[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] as a less heavy spin on [name_u]Joyce[/name_u]?
I’m kind of really loving the nn Millue at the moment, which I feel would be adorable with your two boys names!
You said you don’t mind using two middles; I think [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f] and [name_u]Joyce[/name_u] or [name_f]Joy[/name_f] are both just lovely.
I don’t think a name like “[name_f]Camilla[/name_f] [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]/[name_u]Joyce[/name_u]” would be a stretch, particularly if your last name is so concise!
Thank you so much for all your suggestions. I looked more carefully at the sibset (thanks for the advice) and I think [name_f]Camilla[/name_f] ([name_f]Millie[/name_f]) and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] are perhaps too matchy with [name_m]Miles[/name_m]. So we are going for [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f].
Well, I am going for [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] and my husband is so close to convinced.
I’m still trying to figure out the middles. I love the flow of my son’s name [name_m]Miles[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and then one syllable last name, but I think I’m just going to have to accept that I’m unlikely to get the flow I want if I decide it’s more important to honour people.
Although I love the name [name_f]Joy[/name_f] and it’s meaning, [name_u]Joyce[/name_u] was my grandmother. We are very boy heavy in the family and it’s unlikely that another opportunity will come along to honour her. So, now I’m trying to decide between [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f] [name_u]Joyce[/name_u] and [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] Lamorna [name_u]Joyce[/name_u]. Lamorna is a beautiful cove on the south west tip of Cornwall in [name_f]England[/name_f]. My family are all from Cornwall [name_f]England[/name_f], so I like that connection. It’s also my sister’s middle name.
So close to choosing and I’m so happy to have a girl to add to the party.
Oops, just read that you chose [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f]! I like [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f] [name_u]Joyce[/name_u] over [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] Lamorna [name_u]Joyce[/name_u]. Both picks are nice though so you can’t go wrong!
oh well, my favourite out of these is matilda, but i’m not a fan of repeating initials. that being said, isaac, miles and matilda leave isaac out in my opinion. i really don’t like camilla and i think tabitha is pretty cool. tabitha joy or joyce would be my pic. if you don’t mind repeating initials, matilda tamsin is a great name.
Thank you! It’s tough, the names just don’t seem to fit well together. I think it’s because [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f] and [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] are very similar, both are ancient Aramaic. Then [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] and Lamorna both have the a ending and are 3 syllables making them similar too.
I like the suggestion of [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_u]Joyce[/name_u] but my sister [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f] Lamorna might feel hurt. Might be more simple to convince my husband on baby number 4
I love [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f], but with your two boys’ names, I think [name_f]Camilla[/name_f] [name_u]Joyce[/name_u] or [name_f]Camilla[/name_f] [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f] would be my top choices. But seriously, if you don’t mind repeated initials, [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f] is awesome.
I just saw that you are leaning toward [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f]. If you don’t mind alliteration, you could still do [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f]. [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] Lamorna works, but [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_u]Joyce[/name_u] does flow the best of your middle choices.
