Help us name! 35 weeks and no name!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] - I am new here! I joined because I’m 35 weeks pregnant with our second baby (a boy) and we are having trouble choosing a name!

I thought we had it narrowed down to [name_u]Owen[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u] or [name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_u]Owen[/name_u], but we can’t pick! I also am still looking for more inspo…

With my daughter [name_f]Violet[/name_f], I was obsessed with her name the minute we picked it out. I’m not feeling that way this time.

Other boy names we like:
[name_m]Henry[/name_m]
[name_u]Finn[/name_u]
[name_u]Rees[/name_u]/Rhys/Reece
[name_u]Grey[/name_u] (as middle)
[name_u]George[/name_u] (as middle)
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m] (as middle)

Suggestions using these name combos welcome, as are other names!

I love [name_u]Owen[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u] and I think it’s perfect with sister [name_f]Violet[/name_f]! Maybe you could use [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] or [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]Grey[/name_u] from your list. Great names!

I love [name_u]Owen[/name_u] the most! [name_m]Henry[/name_m] is also great

In the two names you favour most, [name_u]Owen[/name_u] is in them, so I would suggest [name_u]Owen[/name_u] as first name.
I like [name_u]Owen[/name_u] [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] (as both [name_u]Owen[/name_u] and [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] are Welsh, I have gone with the Welsh spelling). I also like [name_u]Owen[/name_u] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m].

Owen And [name_f]Violet[/name_f] are the cutest sibling names !!

I really like [name_u]Reese[/name_u] as well

I love [name_u]Owen[/name_u]! That was on my top list but husband shot it down (of course). I also love [name_u]Reece[/name_u] (It was on our list) but I decided to not do because it’s gender neutral, which is fine but that’s what leaned me away from it…it also can be spelled 3 ways which can prob get annoying correcting people when they spell your name. [name_f]My[/name_f] vote is def [name_u]Owen[/name_u].

Hi there.

Violet is a beautiful name. I think that [name_u]Owen[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u] is perfect for her brother. [name_u]Owen[/name_u] is handsome, classic, simple, gentle yet rugged at the same time…all of the good qualities! I don’t hate [name_u]Rory[/name_u], but but I find it a little hard to say myself.

Here are my thoughts on the others:

Henry-I love this name too, & it’s charming w/Violet. It’s very popular though, if that bothers you.

Finn-I also love this one! I like it even more than [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. It’s such witty, sporty, dashing & boyish. A bit less common, but not at all too unusual. [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] would be amazing.

Rees/Rhys/Reece-Definitely [name_u]Rhys[/name_u]. It may get misspelled, but it’s worth it to have the most authentic spelling. It’s unfortunately used for girls sometimes.

Here are a few more ideas that you may like:

Arthur

Charlie

James

Knox

Leo

Max

Rowan

Simon

Theodore

Winston

Hope this helps.

Thank you so much! Why doesn’t anyone like [name_u]Rory[/name_u]?? Lol

My criteria in a name is unique but not weird. I want it to be a name that I would think was “cool” if I heard it in the wild. I’m pretty sure [name_m]Henry[/name_m] is out just due to the popularity factor.

Rory is a bit hard to say and I don’t love that it is used for girls as well- when you see the name written you may not know if it’s a boy or girl.

I really like [name_u]Owen[/name_u] but is it too common? That’s my drawback. Also, is it a little boring?

I love [name_u]Grey[/name_u] but don’t want two color names as first names.

My husband isn’t a huge fan of [name_u]Rees[/name_u] in any form so I don’t think we’ll end up going with that anyway.

Our last name ends in -er so we are hesitant to use any other name that does. That’s the issue with [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], aside from the popularity.

From your list I really like [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]! And we considered [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] but I think [name_u]Owen[/name_u] has it beat. [name_m]Leo[/name_m] is cute but I know at least 3 babies named [name_m]Leo[/name_m] so we can’t seriously consider it.

What about the name [name_m]Stone[/name_m]? It is a family name, but it’s a little too weird I think. Would be interested in other’s reactions.

From your list how about [name_u]George[/name_u] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] or [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]? Personally I really love [name_u]Owen[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u], I think it sounds really cute! Here are some other names that have the same vibe to me:

John/ [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m]
[name_u]Greyson[/name_u]
[name_m]Charles[/name_m]
[name_u]Michael[/name_u]
[name_u]Liam[/name_u]
[name_u]Finley[/name_u]
[name_u]Sean[/name_u]
[name_m]Oscar[/name_m]
[name_u]Evan[/name_u]

I don’t think [name_u]Rory[/name_u] is a bad option - is not common but recognizable. [name_f]My[/name_f] personal preference is [name_u]Rory[/name_u] as a nickname

I really like [name_m]Stone[/name_m] , but I would hesitate using [name_m]Stone[/name_m] with big sister [name_f]Violet[/name_f] . [name_m]Stone[/name_m] would make a really cool middle name

If you love [name_u]Grey[/name_u] but don’t want to use 2 colours would [name_u]Greyson[/name_u] be a compromise?

I think of [name_u]Rory[/name_u] is a girl name, but that might just be me!

Wren is the first name that comes to mind!

[name_m]Quinton[/name_m]
[name_u]Remington[/name_u]
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]

I really like [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m]!
How about [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]Owen[/name_u], [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]Finn[/name_u] or [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]George[/name_u]

I don’t think [name_u]Owen[/name_u] is boring at all! [name_f]My[/name_f] son is [name_u]Owen[/name_u] [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] and he’s the only [name_u]Owen[/name_u] I know (but I am in Australia).

Owen [name_u]Grey[/name_u] goes beautifully with big sister [name_f]Violet[/name_f].

A friend of mine was recently had a little boy who ended up being called [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]. They were going to call him [name_u]Owen[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u], but when they did an internet search of the name, they found out that there is an ‘adult performer’ called [name_u]Owen[/name_u] [name_u]Gray[/name_u]. I don’t know how much of a deal breaker this is for you, and I am so sorry if I’ve ruined the name, but I thought you should know now rather than further down the line when he’s here.
For what it’s worth, I really like both [name_u]Owen[/name_u] and [name_u]Grey[/name_u], but maybe not in the same combo! [name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_u]Owen[/name_u], [name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u], [name_u]Owen[/name_u] [name_u]George[/name_u], and [name_u]Owen[/name_u] [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] are all lovely options from your list.

How do you feel about [name_u]Evan[/name_u]? I think [name_u]Evan[/name_u] and violet sounds lovely but I don’t really like [name_u]Owen[/name_u].

Rory [name_u]Owen[/name_u] is amazing!

Rhys [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] and [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] would be nice

Flynn [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_m]Oscar[/name_m] [name_u]George[/name_u]
[name_u]Callum[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]
[name_m]Sylvan[/name_m] [name_u]George[/name_u]
[name_u]Dean[/name_u] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_u]Jude[/name_u] [name_u]Owen[/name_u]
[name_m]Felix[/name_m] [name_u]Owen[/name_u]
[name_u]Miles[/name_u] [name_u]George[/name_u]

I love the name [name_f]Violet[/name_f]! [name_f]My[/name_f] son is named [name_u]Finn[/name_u] and I adore his name so much. So naturally my vote goes to [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u] or [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] (or [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]). His name is short and sweet and fun and fits him perfectly. I’ve had so many compliments on it, where I am there aren’t many Finns around (my other boy is [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and as you said there are several more of those!) Ultimately I think you should pick a name that excites you as [name_f]Violet[/name_f]’s did, and if [name_u]Owen[/name_u] and [name_u]Rory[/name_u] aren’t creating that spark maybe they aren’t “the one.” I think siblings [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_u]Finn[/name_u] are just gorgeous together.

So now we have [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and Atlas…and are expecting #3 in a few months! It’s a girl, so I need another great name. Would love some help!
