[name_m]Hi[/name_m] berries,
I posted a while back about naming our first little girl after 3 boys. Boys are [name_m]Leo[/name_m], [name_u]Owen[/name_u], and [name_m]Cole[/name_m]. I originally wanted to keep an o in our girl’s name, but since my husband is impossible and vetoed all that I suggested, I’m thinking maybe the o isn’t super important and can go in the middle spot.
I finally have a list of names that my husband and I can work with:
[name_f]Julia[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] (I love, but he doesn’t).
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] (I don’t love, feels trendy)
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f] (his Gma’s name)
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Eve[/name_f]
Middles would be family names, possibilities are [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] (my fave), [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_f]Colette[/name_f], or [name_f]Violet[/name_f].
Our last name is two syllables and ends in “wood”.
What are your thoughts on these? Which sound best with our boys? Combo ideas?
Thank you! Am feeling overwhelmed!
I love [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_f]Eve[/name_f] for you! [name_f]Eve[/name_f] especially, I like how it’s one syllable like [name_m]Cole[/name_m], and the other two have two syllable names. And then two names have four letters and two have three!
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] is my favourite of the middles too, but I think [name_f]Eve[/name_f] sounds lovely with them all, except [name_f]Violet[/name_f].
[name_m]Leo[/name_m], [name_u]Owen[/name_u], [name_m]Cole[/name_m], and [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]
All the best!
Thank you! I love [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]. I need to convince husband!!
I like pp’s suggestion of [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]! I think [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] sounds wonderful with your boys’ names! I also really like [name_f]Clara[/name_f], but feel like it is very close to [name_m]Cole[/name_m] in terms of sound and looks. (Both start with a C, both have an l in them…)
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] is a lovely combo as is [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Colette[/name_f], or [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]. Have you considered using [name_f]Viola[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Violet[/name_f]? [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Viola[/name_f] has such a nice sound to it, I love how it flows. One of my other favorites from you list is [name_f]Colette[/name_f], too bad it is so similar to [name_m]Cole[/name_m], otherwise I’d suggest putting that in the first spot. [name_f]Colette[/name_f] [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f], [name_f]Colette[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] and [name_f]Colette[/name_f] [name_f]Viola[/name_f] are all nice combos. Have you considered [name_f]Cosette[/name_f]?
Here are some more combos from your list of names:
[name_f]Julia[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Julia[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Julia[/name_f] [name_f]Colette[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Colette[/name_f]
[name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
Good luck!
Of your list, [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] is my favourite but I’d also get rid of it if you’re surname ends in -wood.
Out of what’s left, I think [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_f]Julia[/name_f] seem very old fashioned compared to your boys names. I would say that both [name_f]Clara[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] also have that vintage feeling about them, but are much more popular, like your boys’ names, so would fit anyway. But I think [name_f]Clara[/name_f] may sound too close to [name_m]Cole[/name_m], and you don’t seem to like [name_f]Violet[/name_f] very much.
Which leaves [name_f]Eve[/name_f]. I don’t really like it, but it does fit well with your boys names, and [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] is quite nice, as is [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Colette[/name_f].
I didn’t even think of [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] being too much with the wood in our last name. Is [name_f]Clara[/name_f] too close to [name_m]Cole[/name_m]?
I like [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] it is a gorgeous name. But I think my favorite is [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] because of the family connection. Both would go great with your boy’s name.
[name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] is just beautiful!
Now that I think of it, I don’t really think they’re too close. I just don’t think I’d personally use them together in a sib-set, but that’s because I prefer different first letters, if you get what I’m saying. If this is not an issue for you, then [name_m]Leo[/name_m], [name_u]Owen[/name_u], [name_m]Cole[/name_m] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] make a lovely set. I do adore [name_f]Clara[/name_f], and would love to see it used more!
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] or [name_f]Violet[/name_f]…
Another vote for [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]! I really do love [name_f]Eve[/name_f] when used on its own, and I think it makes sense with your boys’ names.
