We are expecting our first baby in [name]December[/name] and I’m having a hard time with names. A lot of the names we like are already taken by family - [name]Alexander[/name], [name]Matthew[/name], [name]Nicholas[/name], [name]Joshua[/name]. I like [name]Joseph[/name] but my dh doesn’t like that one. We also like [name]Luke[/name], [name]Noah[/name] and [name]Nathan[/name].
The name we both like the most is [name]Ethan[/name] [name]Lewis[/name]. What do you think of this name? [name]Lewis[/name] would most likely be the middle name, as long as it goes with whatever first name we can come up with. The name I am set on if we have a girl next is [name]Elise[/name]. I am wondering if [name]Ethan[/name] and [name]Elise[/name] are too matchy with the strong E and two syllables. [name]Ethan[/name] also just seems like such a strong name and I can picture a grown man with that name, but not the soft and precious baby or the sweet and imaginative little personality I have in my head. Any other name suggestions we might like?
Congrats on your pregnancy and welcome to Nameberry! I love [name]Ethan[/name] but personally I do find it matchy with [name]Elise[/name] (same initial, same strong “ee” sound). I think [name]Nathan[/name] and [name]Elise[/name] would be better for siblings. Here are some suggestions.
I know what you mean about having only two versus more. I wouldn’t want to have an odd one out of we do have a third baby. My dh likes [name]Ethan[/name] so much I might be willing to give up [name]Elise[/name] or use [name]Elise[/name] as a middle name.
Of that list, I like [name]Henry[/name] and [name]Charles[/name] or [name]Charlie[/name] a lot.
I love [name]Luke[/name], and I love [name]Lewis[/name]. I have a friend with a boy named [name]Lewis[/name], and I love it as a fn. could you do [name]Lewis[/name] [name]Ethan[/name]? Otherwise, I don’t find it too matchy with [name]Elise[/name], esp if you don’t plan to have more kids.
I like the idea of [name]Lewis[/name] as a first name, but I know people would automatically think [name]Louis[/name] as that is the more common version in this area.
