We are expecting our first baby next spring (we don’t know if it’s a boy or a girl yet), and we have been through a bazillion of baby name books to work out a list of names we like.
What do you think of these names? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any other suggestions for us? I’m a potter and my boyfriend is a musician, so we want a name that’s a little different.
Also, do you think we should give this baby one or two middle names? I have two, and my boyfriend has one.
A friend from my yoga class highly recommended this site to me so I’m hoping you will be able to help. Thanks!
I quite like [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] and [name_m]Orlando[/name_m].
You might also like [name_m]Demetrius[/name_m], [name_m]Dimitri[/name_m], [name_u]Orion[/name_u], [name_m]Caspian[/name_m], [name_m]Raphael[/name_m], [name_m]Vincent[/name_m], [name_m]Otto[/name_m], [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m], [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m], [name_m]Phineas[/name_m].
[name_u]Love[/name_u]:
Dromio - unique but straightforward
[name_m]Crispin[/name_m] - fall, clean-cut feel
[name_m]Orlando[/name_m] - adventurous, fun-loving feel
[name_m]Peregrine[/name_m] - adventurous, historical feel; don’t love the nn options
[name_m]Malcolm[/name_m], [name_m]Benedict[/name_m] - like both, but they are a little more common/duller than some of the other options
ashleyjuliette: We do like [name_u]Orion[/name_u], but it’s too popular for us. We might consider [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m], it’s very handsome.
swordfish: [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] is lovely, but do you think it’s too much? I also like [name_m]Laszlo[/name_m], but we are not Hungarian. Oh and by the way, I’ve never met a dog called [name_m]Mungo[/name_m].
My favorites are [name_m]Orlando[/name_m], [name_m]Lysander[/name_m], & [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m]. [name_u]Love[/name_u] the suggestion of [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m], too! [name_f]Lovely[/name_f] names - good luck!
[QUOTE=sidonie;4371725]We are expecting our first baby next spring (we don’t know if it’s a boy or a girl yet), and we have been through a bazillion of baby name books to work out a list of names we like.
I love [name_m]Benedict[/name_m] b.c. of Cumberbatch.
[name_m]Franz[/name_m] is gorgeous. I love [name_m]Franz[/name_m] [name_m]Rainier[/name_m].
Dromio I don’t care for.
[name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] is sexy.
[name_m]Crispin[/name_m] is a delight though depending on where you live maybe easier in a middle.
[name_m]Lysander[/name_m] I should love b/c I love [name_m]Leander[/name_m], Laertes, Lear, etc. but the lice sound turns me off.
[name_m]Mungo[/name_m] is great fun though personally I’d prefer it as a middle.
I like [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] even though it sounds a tad fussy to me.
I want to like [name_m]Orlando[/name_m] but I can’t help but think of the [name_f]Florida[/name_f] city.
[name_m]Peregrine[/name_m] is cool as I love [name_u]Perry[/name_u] as a nn.
[name_m]Amadeus[/name_m], though lovely, seems a bit too over the top.
If I were getting named, I’d prefer to be named [name_m]Franz[/name_m] [name_m]Benedict[/name_m]!
lesliemarion: I really like Laertes (and all things Shakespearian)! I was actually wondering whether [name_m]Orlando[/name_m] is too much like the city or [name_m]Orlando[/name_m] Bloom (I don’t mind him, really, he’s a cutie but I don’t want people to think I named my baby after him). I like [name_u]Perry[/name_u] or [name_m]Pip[/name_m]/[name_m]Pippin[/name_m] for [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m], too. And as for [name_m]Amadeus[/name_m], we know it’s over the top, but my boyfriend is a musician so it’s a very special name to us.
Out of those names I like [name_m]Lysander[/name_m], [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m], [name_m]Benedict[/name_m], [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m], and [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m].
[name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] and [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] are my favorites. [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] [name_m]Benedict[/name_m] [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] would be a striking combination!
I love [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m] and have it on my list as well!
[name_m]Crispin[/name_m] is also lovely.I can’t seem to get onboard with Dromio for some reason… it feels made up, though I know from a pp that it’s Shakespearean.
