My husband and I are expecting our second baby in the spring and we are team green once again. This little one will join big brother Leo.
We are all over the place with boy names and can’t seem to agree on a top name. We were in love with the name Leo since before we were even pregnant so the boy name was very easy for us last time.
Here’s our list as of now. Which one is your favourite? What vibe does each name give off? Which one goes best with big brother Leo?
If it helps, our last name starts with H and is similar to “Harrison”.
This is so hard, because I think all of these names work really well with [name_m]Leo[/name_m]!
[name_m]Charlie[/name_m] has the same sunny, boyish sweetness that [name_m]Leo[/name_m] does which I love! It’s my favourite.
I also really like [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] - it’s classic, no fuss, handsome, boy-next-door.
I think [name_m]Mack[/name_m] also feels really cool with [name_m]Leo[/name_m], gives the sibset a slightly more edgy and cool vibe!
The others I like slightly less for various reasons. [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is just so overwhelmingly popular that I’m a bit tired of it. I don’t love the alliteration of [name_m]Henry[/name_m] with your last name, and it feels a bit stuffier than [name_m]Leo[/name_m]. I love [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], but I think with a big brother named [name_m]Leo[/name_m] I’d like just [name_m]Ben[/name_m] more. I think [name_m]William[/name_m] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m] sound slightly matchy (the “lia” sound of William) and I would like just [name_m]Will[/name_m] more.
Congratulations and welcome back. Well-done on your list! [name_f]My[/name_f] thoughts…
[name_m]Thomas[/name_m]. I like it enough but as a adult he will likely become just [name_m]Tom[/name_m] which isn’t my favourite
[name_m]Mack[/name_m]. This is great although I really love [name_m]Max[/name_m] especially alongside [name_m]Leo[/name_m]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m]. I agree with @tallemaja and prefer the others a bit more
[name_m]Charlie[/name_m]. I love this. [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and [name_m]Charlie[/name_m] give off a very friendly vibe
[name_m]William[/name_m]. [name_m]William[/name_m] feels more buttoned up than [name_m]Leo[/name_m] although [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and [name_m]Will[/name_m] are great
[name_m]Jack[/name_m]. I love [name_m]Jack[/name_m]
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]. [name_m]Ben[/name_m] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m] - great although [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] has been so popular in years past but that may depend on where you live and may not be of any concern. Still a very nice name.
Overall, my favourites for you are [name_m]Charlie[/name_m], [name_m]Jack[/name_m], and Mack/Max!
This is a great list! [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] is my favorite of the list, but I think [name_m]Jack[/name_m] & [name_m]Mack[/name_m] sound perfect with [name_m]Leo[/name_m]. These names all give off a friendly, approachable, boy-next-door vibe:
I love:
[name_m]Leo[/name_m] and [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] “Tommy”- This is such a good brother set! It gives off old-school, classic vibes!
[name_m]Leo[/name_m] and [name_m]William[/name_m] “Will”- These are handsome together! They give off a polished, royal feel!
[name_m]Leo[/name_m] and [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] “Ben, Benji”- They give off classic, yet on-trend playful and sweet vibes!
I don’t love [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and Mack/Jack. They feel a bit too informal next to [name_m]Leo[/name_m]. Maybe [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and [name_m]John[/name_m] nn [name_m]Jack[/name_m]?
[name_m]Thomas[/name_m] ‘Tommy’ - classic, solid, and versatile
[name_m]Mack[/name_m] - very cool, charming and sparky
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] - gentle but strong, literary and versatile - but I think using this would depend on how close to [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] your surname is - since [name_m]Henry[/name_m] → [name_m]Harry[/name_m] → [name_m]Harrison[/name_m].
[name_m]Charlie[/name_m] - friendly and gentle, but lively too
[name_m]William[/name_m] ‘Will’ - I find it quite heavy and cumbersome especially compared to [name_m]Leo[/name_m]. But it is a solid, classic, and safe name
[name_m]Jack[/name_m] - snappy, cool, and friendly - [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and [name_m]Jack[/name_m] have that same energy and charm
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] - somehow I don’t find this heavy like [name_m]William[/name_m] - I love nickname [name_m]Benji[/name_m] too
I think [name_m]Mack[/name_m] is my favourite, followed by [name_m]Charlie[/name_m], [name_m]Jack[/name_m] and [name_m]Benji[/name_m]
[name_m]Welcome[/name_m] back! [name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_m]Grey[/name_m] is adorable, and I think all these names go great with him! [name_f]My[/name_f] personal favorites are [name_m]Jack[/name_m] and [name_m]Charlie[/name_m], but I also love [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] and [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]. I adore [name_m]Mac[/name_m] too but wouldn’t use him as a standalone name I don’t think. I think [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is my favorite pairing, followed by [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]!
Congratulations! [name_f]Love[/name_f] your list! I do think all of the names mesh well with [name_m]Leo[/name_m] (and sibling names do not have to be matchy-matchy), however, here are my thoughts:
[name_m]Thomas[/name_m] - I do love this name. I feel like [name_m]Leo[/name_m] gives off more old but cool vibes…and [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] feels very simple (albeit classic). [name_m]Tommy[/name_m] is very cute, but more boy-ish than [name_m]Leo[/name_m].
[name_m]Mack[/name_m] is very BOY. [name_m]Leo[/name_m] has a tiny bit of femininity to it (maybe it’s the [name_f]French[/name_f] ties) that [name_m]Mack[/name_m] simply does not.
Back to the [name_f]French[/name_f] ties… I think [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m] are darling together. The HH alliteration is something to think about though.
[name_m]Charlie[/name_m] is cute but so incredibly popular. [name_m]Charlie[/name_m] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m] are cute, but again different vibes (to me).
I think [name_m]Will[/name_m] also gives off the old but cool vibes that I think [name_m]Leo[/name_m] has as well! This pair works well.
[name_m]Jack[/name_m] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m] is great - but I think of [name_m]Leonardo[/name_m] DiCaprio playing [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Dawson[/name_m]. I don’t think that will be a common thought at all, just what I thought of!
I LOVE [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], [name_m]Ben[/name_m] and [name_m]Benji[/name_m]. [name_m]Benji[/name_m] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m] are probably my favorite sibset here. Definitely brothers I would want to know!
Boy-next-door is such a good description for [name_m]Thomas[/name_m]! That’s exactly how I picture the name but couldn’t put my finger on the phrase.
I agree [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is quite popular and I think we are leaning toward ruling it out for that reason. The HH alliteration with [name_m]Henry[/name_m] has also been bothering me so it’s helpful to hear someone else say that too.
I love [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], but [name_m]Tom[/name_m] also isn’t my favourite. [name_m]William[/name_m] definitely feels more buttoned up than [name_m]Leo[/name_m] as you mentioned. But on the other hand, I ADORE [name_m]Will[/name_m] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m] - they sound awesome together.
I love your descriptors for each name! Really helps to paint a picture of each one’s “personality” and how a new little human might wear them
[name_m]Mack[/name_m] is my husband’s #1 so he is very pleased to see it getting some love haha!
Your point about [name_m]Henry[/name_m] working with the surname is a good one. Although I love [name_m]Henry[/name_m] on its own, it really doesn’t work as well as the others do with our last name. The HH alliteration also does bother me a tinge!
