We are about 2 weeks from finding out if our baby will be a girl or boy. We’re about 75% sure sure it’s a boy BUT… what if it’s a girl (wishful thinking?) and we don’t have a name for her! I can’t stop thinking about it. So I’m asking for your help to narrow down our list. Could you please let me know your favorite(s) and least favorite(s) from our list?
A few things to keep in mind: Her middle name will be [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], her brother is [name_m]Aedan[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u], our last name rhymes with Epstein, and we live in NYC where unusual names are basically the norm. Thanks in advance!
Names DH and I both like:
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] (So sweet. Too sweet?)
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] (Possibly our front runner. Is [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] too much of a boy name?)
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] (Too common?)
[name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] (I love [name_f]Willow[/name_f] but do the 2 botanical names make her sound like a weird plant?)
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] (I like that there are multiple options for nn)
[name_f]Amoret[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] (Too out there?)
Names DH likes: I could possibly get on board with some of these but some are too much
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] (Sounds like a poisonous plant to me)
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] (I don’t like V names in general)
[name_f]Spring[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] (???)
[name_f]Rayne[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] (Hate it)
Names I like: I think I could convince DH on most of these if I fought for it
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] (Too botanical?)
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] (A pretty name with a bad rap)
[name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] (Too short sounding?)
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] (Too cutesy?)
[name_u]River[/name_u] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] (Too hippie?)
My favorite is [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] - I don’t think its too cute at all, its classy and sophisticated sounding.
I also quite like [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f].
I like [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_f]Amoret[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f].
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f] is very sweet
[name_f]Amoret[/name_f] is really cool and gorgeous, I kinda love it!
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] is also gorgeous and would be my pick over all the botanical themed ones (including [name_u]Rowan[/name_u])
These are my favorites off your lists:
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
I love, love, [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_f]Amoret[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]. [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] is my second favorite. I think these sound the best with your last name. I really like [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], too, but I think it’s a little botanical. I don’t think [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] is too boy-ish at all.
[name_f]Amoret[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] is awesome! It’s different, but not so out-there that people will think you’re crazy! She’ll fit in with all of the little Amelias and Annabels in her preschool, but she’ll stand out too. As you said, unusual baby names are … well, usual in NYC, and [name_f]Amoret[/name_f] strikes a great balance.
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] is fast becoming one of my favorites, too. I’ve wondered about going double-botanical, but there was an announcement in my local paper of a little [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] Bloom, and I loved it. [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] works, [name_f]IMO[/name_f].
Another vote for [name_f]Amoret[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]! That name stood out far from the rest for me. I’ve never heard it before, yet it doesn’t sound too unusual. if I had your list and had to choose one for my own baby today, it would 100% be [name_f]Amoret[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]!
Wow you guys! We fell for [name_f]Amoret[/name_f] a while ago but sort of put it on the back burner because we were worried it was too unusual and possibly sounded made up (it’s not). Feeling much more confident in it now! Can anyone suggest a nn for it?
I like these names from your list. The rest either have too much of one thing (the letter “v” for [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] or the combos sound too descriptive of a plant not a person ([name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Spring[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]) or would give a celebrity baby a run for its money ([name_u]Blue[/name_u] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] meet [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] :)).
1 [name_f]Amoret[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] - [name_f]Ettie[/name_f] or [name_m]Mori[/name_m] would be cute nn’s or even [name_f]Amy[/name_f]/[name_f]Amie[/name_f] because the combo contains all letters.
2 [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] - This sounds very romantic.
3 [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] - see [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
4 [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] - A little more common but fine nevertheless
.
Another vote for [name_f]Amoret[/name_f]! Though I love [name_f]Annabel[/name_f], too, which feels like a “safer” option. There’s also [name_f]Amabel[/name_f], if you want to combine the two.
