My fiancé and I have been talking about starting a family and baby names, and came up with a list for each gender of names we both love, which I’m excited about! Last name sounds like Geyser, but with an L after the S. Which are your favorites of these? Any combos of them strike you? Any feedback would be great!
My favourites are [name_f]Carolina[/name_f], [name_u]Eden[/name_u], [name_f]Dolores[/name_f], [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_f]Lorelai[/name_f], [name_m]Lucian[/name_m], and [name_u]Walker[/name_u]. Here are some combos I thought up:
From your girls’ list, I think [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Carolina[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] would be quite lovely and striking.
From your boys’, I like the sound of [name_u]Elias[/name_u] [name_m]Hart[/name_m] and [name_u]Abbott[/name_u] [name_u]River[/name_u].
I think that’s a list that you’ll be able to work with beautifully!
This is how I’d group the names together, style-wise and the bolded ones are my personal favourites:
[name_f]Georgia[/name_f], [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], [name_u]Elias[/name_u] - the “vintage yet modern sounding on-trend” group [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_f]Viola[/name_f], [name_f]Sibyl[/name_f], [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] - the “on-trend but with a vintage vibe” group
[name_f]Isolde[/name_f], [name_f]Lorelai[/name_f], [name_m]Audun[/name_m] - the ones with a mythological vibe [name_u]Arden[/name_u], [name_f]Blythe[/name_f], [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f], [name_m]Abott[/name_m] - the modern, unisex-sounding but still “belonging” to one gender over the other ([name_u]Arden[/name_u] and [name_m]Abott[/name_m] rather than [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] and [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f] which do have a unisex sound but are officially historical girls’ names)
[name_f]Zadie[/name_f], [name_u]Haven[/name_u], [name_u]Eden[/name_u], [name_m]Wystan[/name_m], Esben, [name_u]River[/name_u], [name_u]Walker[/name_u], [name_m]Hart[/name_m] - the modern trendy (sounding) ones
[name_f]Carolina[/name_f], [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] - the slightly different but beautiful
[name_f]Paloma[/name_f], [name_f]Dolores[/name_f] - the ones with a Spanish influence (I do think that [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] is still very usable with the others, [name_f]Dolores[/name_f] does feel very dated and very Spanish to me)
[name_f]Amy[/name_f], [name_f]Noelle[/name_f], [name_u]Noel[/name_u] - the modern-sounding timeless names
[name_m]Ansel[/name_m], Ames - the slightly different but handsome
[name_u]Jody[/name_u], [name_u]Kelley[/name_u] - they just feel slightly dated as boys’ names, nothing wrong with them though
Boys:
[name_m]Audun[/name_m] [name_u]Walker[/name_u]
[name_u]River[/name_u] [name_u]Noel[/name_u] (if the pron. is No-el) otherwise [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_m]Lucian[/name_m]
[name_u]Noel[/name_u] [name_m]Wystan[/name_m] (if [name_u]Noel[/name_u] is pronounced like [name_m]Nole[/name_m])
I’d go with [name_f]Zadie[/name_f]. I knew someone named [name_f]Zadie[/name_f] [name_u]Rain[/name_u] in elementary school and I’ve always lovvved that name. [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] is a close second to me. For boys, my favourite name is [name_u]River[/name_u].
I’m liking the sort of alliteration of [name_f]Viola[/name_f] [name_u]Haven[/name_u] and [name_m]Ansel[/name_m] Ames. (Which, without looking it up, I’m guessing is pronounced ‘aims’?)
I also like [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f] [name_f]Amy[/name_f] and Esben [name_m]Hart[/name_m].
It is wonderful that you already have a list that both of you like.
@jariel I like [name_f]Amy[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] and [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] [name_m]Hart[/name_m]! [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] especially would work nicely as an honor name for my mom, [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f]!
@vestigesofsummer Lots of pretty combos! [name_f]Amy[/name_f] [name_f]Sibyl[/name_f], [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_u]Arden[/name_u], [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] and [name_f]Viola[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] are all going on the list. And [name_m]Ansel[/name_m] [name_u]Walker[/name_u] is great - it’s his favorite or at least top-3 boy name and my middle name (a family name)!
Thank you! He has an unusual name that he loves ([name_u]Dorian[/name_u]) and is also a writer, so he’s interested in and open to a wide variety of names (and their sounds and meanings) almost as much as I am!
Thanks! [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] and [name_u]Abbott[/name_u] [name_u]River[/name_u] are lovely. I also like [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Carolina[/name_f], but I think I am inclined to put [name_f]Carolina[/name_f] in the first name spot and [name_u]Eden[/name_u] in the middle if we use them. And it might be too much to have two place-names. But it does sound pretty!
This is so great! Thanks for doing it - super interesting to see how you categorize each name. It made me realize that his favorites tend towards modern-sounding names ([name_u]Haven[/name_u], [name_m]Wystan[/name_m], [name_u]Arden[/name_u], [name_u]River[/name_u], [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f], [name_u]Eden[/name_u], [name_f]Noelle[/name_f], [name_u]Noel[/name_u]) and what you categorized as “different but beautiful/handsome” ([name_m]Ansel[/name_m], [name_f]Carolina[/name_f], [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f]). My very favorites are more all over ([name_f]Sibyl[/name_f], [name_m]Audun[/name_m], [name_f]Blythe[/name_f], [name_m]Hart[/name_m], [name_u]Jody[/name_u], [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f]).
@evelinrose I like [name_u]Arden[/name_u] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] (and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_u]Arden[/name_u] as vestigesofsummer suggested!) and [name_m]Audun[/name_m] [name_u]Walker[/name_u] might be my favorite boy combo yet! [name_m]Audun[/name_m] is the boy name we most strongly agree on and [name_u]Walker[/name_u] is meaningful both to us as a couple and me because it’s a family name.
Yep, it’s pronounced like “aims”! I also enjoy alliteration. [name_u]Love[/name_u] Esben [name_m]Hart[/name_m] as well!
We’re in our 30s and have a timeline for starting a family that isn’t too far away, so I’m glad we do, too! But yes, I feel lucky that our taste aligns so well.
Girls names I love:
[name_u]Arden[/name_u] (I hardly ever hear this one, and am always pleasantly surprised when I hear it!)
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] (in my top 10 for a long time)
[name_u]Eden[/name_u] ([name_u]LOVE[/name_u] this name. It’s in my top 2 :))
[name_f]Viola[/name_f] (a fun variation of [name_f]Violet[/name_f]!)
Boys names I love:
[name_u]Elias[/name_u] (just sounds so strong and handsome!)
[name_m]Lucian[/name_m] (I like the name [name_m]Lucifer[/name_m] but would never name a child that, so this is a great variation!)
Combos:
Honestly, I think [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] would sound good with just about anything.
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Isolde[/name_f]
[name_u]Arden[/name_u] [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f]
[name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f]
[name_f]Viola[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
For a boy:
[name_u]Noel[/name_u] [name_m]Audun[/name_m]
[name_u]Walker[/name_u] [name_u]Elias[/name_u]
[name_m]Audun[/name_m] [name_u]Elias[/name_u]
For a girl:
[name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Lorelai[/name_f]
[name_u]Haven[/name_u] [name_f]Zadie[/name_f]
I love [name_u]Eden[/name_u] and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], like [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], and think [name_u]Haven[/name_u] and [name_f]Zadie[/name_f] are nice too. [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] is actually a lovely combo. [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] is too.
[name_m]Ansel[/name_m] and [name_u]Elias[/name_u] are very handsome. I also like [name_m]Hart[/name_m], [name_u]Noel[/name_u], and [name_u]Walker[/name_u]. I think [name_u]River[/name_u] is suitable as a middle only.
[name_u]Elias[/name_u] [name_m]Hart[/name_m] sounds great. Or [name_m]Ansel[/name_m] [name_u]River[/name_u], or [name_u]Noel[/name_u] [name_u]Elias[/name_u].
