Hello, berries!
I recently posted in the boy’s name section of the forums and your opinions and feedback definitely helped us narrow down our list of boy names and even helped us consider some points we hadn’t thought of, so for that I am very grateful! I thought maybe you’d be willing to help us with the girl side of things, as well. =] Middle names are far less solid on the girl side as I struggle significantly with pairing some of my favorite names with middles, so this list is a bit less…refined than our boys list. That being said, feel free to suggest middle names you think would go particularly well with any of the following names. And if you haven’t seen the other post, sister is [name_u]Adley[/name_u].
[name_u]Greer[/name_u] [name_f]Elaine[/name_f] - I realize reactions to [name_u]Greer[/name_u] are pretty polarized, you like it or you hate it. I fell in love with it while watching a show a while back and hubby likes it, as well. I just know a lot of people default to “boy” when they hear it and we haven’t gotten the best reactions when we’ve mentioned it in the past.
[name_u]Delaney[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] - We love the fun, spunky feel [name_u]Delaney[/name_u] has and, though I don’t really like nicknames, I don’t mind [name_u]Laney[/name_u]. I know [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is considered a filler name, but it is one of my very favorite names, so it shows up as a potential with a lot of our names. It’s also very classic and timeless like our daughter’s middle name.
[name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] ([name_f]Grace[/name_f]/Arden/?) - [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] is a recent edition. I love how soft it is and I do like that it’s known, but not super popular. I’m slightly concerned [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is a bit too religious (we’re Christians, but no need to go over the top lol) and that [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] [name_u]Arden[/name_u] is too unisex. Open to middle suggestions on this one for sure.
[name_u]Arden[/name_u] ([name_f]Grace[/name_f]/Shiloh/?) - [name_u]Arden[/name_u] was on my list for our first daughter. I love the [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] connection and I just enjoy the sound. I don’t mind that it calls the word ‘Ardent’ to mind. It means “enthusiastic or passionate; burning, glowing” so there are far worse words to be associated with. haha Makes me think of Pride and Prejudice. Finding a middle name I love with it has been a major struggle, though, which is frustrating.
[name_f]Molly[/name_f] [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] - [name_f]My[/name_f] husband loves this name a lot. Honestly, so do I, but I worry about 1) it being too similar in sounds to [name_u]Adley[/name_u] and 2) how common it is compared to [name_u]Adley[/name_u]. Our last name starts with an M and has two syllables, which gets a little sing-songy with [name_f]Molly[/name_f], but I honestly don’t mind that much. [name_f]Molly[/name_f] is sweet and I think it’s one of the -ee ending names that age really well.
[name_f]Bree[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] - We love how simple, spunky, but also lovely [name_f]Bree[/name_f] is. It’s straightforward, not frilly, but still has charm. [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] is also our favorite time of year, so [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] is special for that.
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] - [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] is another gem we both love. I just think it sparkles. Our worries with this are 1) we don’t want [name_u]Adley[/name_u] to pale in comparison to [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] (does it?), which has a lot of personality and 2) it doesn’t sound the best with our last name (spelled phonetically it’s MUHN-see). The repeated s and -ee sounds don’t jive the best to my ear.
I know this is a long post, so if you’ve stuck with me this far, thank you! So what names do you think we should keep? Which ones are just okay? Any you think should definitely be out?
