[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there! Our baby girl will be hear any day now, and we are still trying to decide 100% on her name.
It’s important to my husband and I to name her after her after two of her Grandmothers - [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] and [name_f]Margaret[/name_f].
If we go with [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Virginia[/name_f], we would call her [name_f]May[/name_f] 100% if the time and introduce her as [name_f]May[/name_f]. I’m concerned she will end up spending time explaining that [name_f]May[/name_f] is short for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]? However I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the name [name_f]May[/name_f] and I’m not as hot on [name_f]Margaret[/name_f].
If we go with [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], we let the nickname develop more organically. I like [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] and [name_f]Ginny[/name_f] and [name_f]Gigi[/name_f], etc.

I love [name_f]Virginia[/name_f]–What about [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] to honor [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]? Otherwise go with [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]. I wouldn’t use [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] as a first name if you never intend to call her that.
If you don’t like [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], I would name her [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]–[name_f]Ginny[/name_f], [name_f]Ginger[/name_f], and [name_f]Gigi[/name_f] are all adorable nicknames!
I love the name [name_f]May[/name_f] (spelled [name_f]Mae[/name_f]) but I don’t like [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] has the best flow; but, I also second the suggestion of [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f].
Well, I see nothing wrong with [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] (nn [name_f]May[/name_f]). Most Margarets go by a nickname and are never called [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]. It is the same for lots of people with longer names.
I really like [name_f]Ginny[/name_f], but not [name_f]Virginia[/name_f].
I think it is adorable that she will probably be born in the month of [name_f]May[/name_f].
[name_f]Margret[/name_f] [name_f]Virginia[/name_f]! I think if you can get [name_f]Meg[/name_f], [name_f]Peg[/name_f] and [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] from [name_f]Margret[/name_f] you can get [name_f]May[/name_f] too.
