Help! We can't agree on Any name!

I’m Due [name]August[/name] 17th. My name is [name]April[/name], And I have a 10 year old son [name]Devin[/name] [name]Michael[/name].
I really really want to name our new daughter [name]Avery[/name] [name]Maria[/name] - But The father is Dead set against it. I’m the one carrying her and delivering her, Should I get to pick my only daughter’s name?? Especially since I love love love the name… ???

I really want to keep it an A name and middle name has to be [name]Maria[/name]. Or a variation of it.

Open to suggestions///…

Thanks Nameberry…

[name]Maria[/name] is lovely! I personally wouldn’t go with [name]Avery[/name], though, but that’s because [name]Devin[/name] is also unisex, so I think it could be tricky to figure out which is the girl and which is the boy, when they haven’t met your children before. What about it is your partner against?

I love the idea of [name]Annabel[/name] [name]Maria[/name], I think that’s lovely. What about:

[name]Adele[/name] [name]Maria[/name]
[name]Annika[/name] [name]Maria[/name]
[name]Alice[/name] [name]Maria[/name]
[name]Angelina[/name] [name]Maria[/name]
[name]Abigail[/name] [name]Maria[/name]
Adalet [name]Maria[/name]
[name]Amaya[/name] [name]Maria[/name]
[name]Aurelie[/name] [name]Maria[/name]/[name]Aurelia[/name] [name]Maria[/name]
[name]Aurora[/name] [name]Maria[/name] (you could use the unisex nns [name]Ari[/name] and [name]Rory[/name] for this, too)

I can understand your hesitation, since you’ll be the one carrying the baby and giving birth to her, and I, too, have names I really love and wouldn’t want to give up, but she’ll be his baby just as much as yours, right? I think you both deserve to love your daughter’s name–equally. When I go through the naming process, I will want my husband to love my children’s names just as much as I do, and much as I wouldn’t want to give up [name]Isabelle[/name], [name]Arianne[/name], [name]Caleb[/name], and [name]Everett[/name], if he hated them, I probably would. Then again, it’s a priority to me that my partner loves the name just as much as I do.

Good luck!

I think that the naming process must be done together, and I understand that you love the name but you should probably find something you both like. I second the suggestions of [name]Abigail[/name] [name]Maria[/name] and [name]Annabel[/name] [name]Maria[/name] from ashthedreamer.

What about…
[name]Ariel[/name] [name]Maria[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Maria[/name]
[name]Adelaide[/name] [name]Maria[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Maria[/name]/[name]Marie[/name]
[name]Aria[/name] [name]Marie[/name]
[name]Ayla[/name] [name]Marie[/name]
[name]Antonia[/name] [name]Marie[/name]
[name]Anna[/name]-[name]Maria[/name] ___________ (this way you have a double-barreled first and you can choose a middle name for fun!)
[name]Alicia[/name] [name]Marie[/name]
[name]Annelise[/name] [name]Maria[/name]
[name]Avalon[/name] [name]Maria[/name]
[name]Anya[/name] [name]Marie[/name]
[name]Aubrey[/name] [name]Maria[/name]
[name]Angela[/name] [name]Marie[/name]

I agree with the last two posters - naming should be a decision that’s equally yours and your husband’s. [name]Even[/name] if what you choose isn’t either of your absolute favorite names, it should be something you both love.

I love the suggestions of [name]Alice[/name] and [name]Ava[/name] - I think those are beautiful. I also thought of [name]Alexandra[/name]/[name]Alexandria[/name] and [name]Audra[/name].

I absolutely believe that carrying/delivering the baby does NOT automatically give the mother extra leverage on names-how ticked would be if were the other way around? I know that if I were to demand a name, my dh would probably give in, but that’s not how I want to make such a big decision. I want to tell my kids that we both loved their name, not mom demanded her way, and dad gave in.

Ask dad what he wants (could be he just wants to be consulted). If you picked the A first name thing AND the middle name, then maybe he should get to pick the actual first name. No matter what, figure out something together!

Honestly I don’t think [name]Avery[/name] [name]Maria[/name] sounds quite right, maybe [name]Marie[/name] would sound better but then that’s changing the middle name. But there’s plenty of other A names around so how about these?

[name]Hope[/name] this helps,
[name]Bethan[/name].

I’m not saying that I wouldn’t feel the way you do if I were pregnant, but two people make a child. If we want fathers to be involved, they should have some input on the names too. [name]Avery[/name] [name]Maria[/name] sounds like [name]Ave[/name] [name]Maria[/name] to me. I like [name]Audrey[/name] [name]Maria[/name] as suggested. Or maybe [name]Aubrey[/name] [name]Maria[/name]?

I’m going with ariana marie
