My husband and I have the name [name]Rye[/name] at the top of our list. (For a boy)
His name would be [name]Rye[/name] [name]Lee[/name] [name]Peterson[/name] ([name]Lee[/name] is a family middle name, so its a must) - I was thinking as a child we could call him [name]Rye[/name] [name]Lee[/name] and as he got older, he would have the option of staying with [name]Rye[/name] [name]Lee[/name] or going to [name]Rye[/name].
Is it too weird??
[name]Rye[/name] makes me think of the grain, like being named corn or wheat. Next I think of whiskey…
I think [name]Rye[/name] [name]Lee[/name] would make anyone hearing it assume his name was [name]Riley[/name] which would lead to a lot of spelling corrections.
If [name]Lee[/name] is a family name a different first name or an extra middle name might lessen the ‘[name]Riley[/name]’ confusion or [name]Ryan[/name] is a very nice alternative which could still give the nn [name]Rye[/name].
My first thought was whiskey, then bread, then the word “wry”. I agree with Norbury that [name]Rye[/name] [name]Lee[/name] would be pretty confusing and look almost like a weird way to re-spell [name]Riley[/name]. Would you consider [name]Ryland[/name] or [name]Ryder[/name], with [name]Rye[/name]/[name]Ry[/name] as short form? [name]Ryland[/name] [name]Lee[/name] [name]Peterson[/name] sounds pretty cool.
[name]Rye[/name] makes me think of bread and whiskey.
If you like [name]Rye[/name] [name]Lee[/name], why not [name]Riley[/name]? I like the suggestion of [name]Ryland[/name] [name]Lee[/name] as well.
Bread, [name]New[/name] [name]York[/name] suburb…
But the biggest con is that he’d be constantly correcting his full name. “No, [name]Rye[/name] [name]Lee[/name] not [name]Riley[/name]…”
[name]Ryder[/name] [name]Lee[/name] w/ nn [name]Rye[/name] could work a little better
Sorry, like everyone else I think of the bread and I agree that [name]Rye[/name] [name]Lee[/name] is going to lead to confusion and spelling mistakes.
