My husband is in love with the name [name]Willa[/name]. I like it, but it is very similar to my maiden name ([name]Williams[/name]). I am worried that my whole side of the family will think this is weird. I love the name [name]Chloe[/name] too, so I am torn. Any thoughts on which name is better for our baby girl?
I personally love the name [name]Chloe[/name]. I also think it might be a little strange to name your daughter [name]Willa[/name], especially if your maiden name doesn’t have special meaning to you.
You can always call her [name]Chloe[/name] [name]Willow[/name] or [name]Chloe[/name] [name]Willa[/name].
Good luck!
[name]Both[/name] [name]Willa[/name] and [name]Chloe[/name] are both beautiful names, but [name]Chloe[/name] is very popular right now. [name]Willa[/name] is beautiful AND unique. I don’t think anyone will think it is weird, it is a very simple, elegant, classic name (just like [name]Chloe[/name], except of course less popular). The fact that it is close to your maiden name is a plus, I think–you can honor the name by using [name]Willa[/name]!
If you are looking for a middle name, why not [name]Josephine[/name], [name]Evangeline[/name], [name]Cosette[/name]/[name]Colette[/name] ([name]Chloe[/name] substitutes?), [name]Georgiana[/name], [name]Clementine[/name], [name]Margaret[/name], [name]Vivienne[/name], [name]Amity[/name], [name]Daphne[/name] (a lot like [name]Chloe[/name], same origin too), or [name]Jessamine[/name]?
Good luck!
Personally, I love [name]Chloe[/name] more. But a lot of the Berries love [name]Willa[/name]. [name]Chloe[/name] seems more adorable and sweet, and [name]Willa[/name] seems more sober and sophisticated. I think that it’s very cool that [name]Willa[/name] sounds like your maiden name.
Why not honor your family name with [name]Willa[/name]? I think it is lovely and not too trendy. Unless your daughter will also have your last name - then it doesn’t really work.
[name]Willa[/name] is much more unique. [name]Williams[/name] is my Mother’s maiden name. Have you considered Welsh names? Many Williamses in [name]Wales[/name].
I love [name]Chloe[/name] and like [name]Willa[/name]. [name]Chloe[/name] is in the top ten though, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t use it. I would think it was great that [name]Willa[/name] sounds like [name]Williams[/name], it would honor your family, I can’t imagine them thinking it was weird.
[name]Chloe[/name] is in the top 10 but I have NEVER met a [name]Chloe[/name] in my life. Currently, I am running with moms of newborns and I haven’t heard a [name]Chloe[/name] among that set, either. A gorgeous name!
I think that both are beautiful! If [name]Chloe[/name]'s popularity is an issue for you, [name]Willa[/name] may be a better bet. I love how [name]Willa[/name] would honor your maiden name! I’ve always loved the name [name]Willa[/name].
Does one sound better with your last name?
Good luck!
[name]Love[/name] them both but i think you should go with [name]Willa[/name], with [name]Chloe[/name] as a middle name
If my maiden name lended to a fun first name, I’d do it in a heartbeat! I know a woman with the maiden name Jacobsen who named her son [name]Jake[/name]- and her family LOVED it.
[name]Even[/name] without the awesome family connection, I prefer [name]Willa[/name]… and I agree that [name]Willa[/name] [name]Chloe[/name] is wonderful
Good luck!
[name]Hi[/name]!
I simply adore [name]Willa[/name]! I think it is fresh and fun, while still maintaining a sense of vintage elegance. It is subtly feminine without being too sugary or sweet, and it sounds grow-up and youthful at the same time. Can you tell I love it?
Also, I don’t think it is at all weird that [name]Willa[/name] sounds like [name]Williams[/name]. I take this as a sweet way to honor your side of the family, and I am sure your family, if you ask them, will see it the same way! If you can’t - or don’t want to - pass on [name]Williams[/name], why not use the lovely [name]Willa[/name]?
Honestly, I just can’t get too enthused about [name]Chloe[/name]. It just isn’t my kind of name, and I can’t for the life of me picture a sophisticated, adult [name]Chloe[/name]! I know this isn’t the general consensus on [name]Chloe[/name], so I apologize, but I love - love, love, love! - [name]Willa[/name], and its significant connection to your family name!

I, myself, like [name]Willa[/name] better. One thing I wonder is, why isn’t it being similar to your maiden name a positive for you? Personally, I’d find that very nice, but maybe that’s just me.(-: [name]Chloe[/name] is also nice, but it seems more popular to me. [name]Willa[/name] gets my vote!
I love [name]Willa[/name] and have loved it ever since I first heard it years ago. Pretty and has oomph despite being a short name. [name]Chloe[/name] is boring for me. Sorry. Not horrendous but [name]Willa[/name] has so much more sophistication and flair…
[name]Willa[/name]! [name]Chloe[/name] just seems a little plain to me, and [name]Willa[/name] is so beautiful. I don’t think that your family would think it is strange, as I am presuming your surname is no longer [name]Williams[/name] … in fact, they would probably think that [name]Willa[/name] was a nice way to honour that side of the family!
Thanks everyone! I still love [name]Chloe[/name], and may use it as a middle name, but right now we are leaning toward [name]Willa[/name] [name]Claire[/name]. We’ll see how much it changes in the next couple of months : )
One more thing, I love my maiden name, but think it is the fact that I have spelled the name for so long and always thought the name would be something new and fresh. Not sure if that makes any sense. Either way, I think I am seeing it as much more of a positive way to honor my family. We don’t have ANY boys carrying on our last name, so I think it could be nice.
Oh, I love [name]Willa[/name], and think it’s very pretty with [name]Claire[/name].
(And I think that [name]Chloe[/name] is beautiful, too.)
Good luck!
Well, my favourite girl name is [name]Willow[/name] so I am more drawn to [name]Willa[/name] from your list. [name]Chloe[/name] is so common and I think [name]Willa[/name] is a nice way to honour your family.
I think it is perfectly understandable to want to honour your child via your maiden name, not at all weird.
I love the suggestion of [name]Chloe[/name] [name]Willow[/name], it is really beautiful and I suspect you love [name]Chloe[/name] a little more than [name]Willa[/name] too.
I think you should use [name]Chloe[/name] in the first name spot.
