I really love the name [name_m]Balin[/name_m] (bay-lin) for a boy, but I’m not crazy about the spelling. [name_m]Just[/name_m] wanted to see what other spellings you guys could help me come up with. Thanks!
I think Baylon or Baylen is practical, but I have never seen or heard of anyone with the name. Bailen could work. I prefer the first two.
I like Baylon. That is a good suggestion! Thanks!
[name_m]Balin[/name_m] is a dwarf in The Hobbit, pronounced Bah-lin.
To get [name_u]Bay[/name_u]-lin you need to add a Y or an I in there. Baylin/Baylen or Bailen.
I would spell it Baelin. I like the look without the Y and [name_f]Bae[/name_f] would be [name_u]BAY[/name_u] like [name_f]Mae[/name_f] is [name_f]MAY[/name_f].
I like Bailen or maybe Baelen. I think the Y would be feminine–especially if you end up calling him [name_u]Bay[/name_u] ([name_f]Bae[/name_f], or [name_f]Bai[/name_f] would be familiar thanks to the popular [name_u]Kai[/name_u]).
BTW–I’m mentioning this too my 5-year-old [name_u]Kaelen[/name_u] ([name_f]Kae[/name_f]), who thinks his new baby brother’s name should rhyme with his. He really likes it.
I’d go for Baylon - I think it makes the pronunciation clear and still looks like a legitimate name rather than a made up spelling.
That’s where I heard it actually in the book on tape on YouTube. They must pronounce it wrong.
I love Baelen! I never thought of B-A-E. And we would probably use the NN [name_f]Bae[/name_f]. I’m glad your 5 year old son likes it!
If I heard it and had to write it down, I’d spell it Baylin. Baylen, Bailen, Baelen & Baelin could also work. I’d steer clear of [name_m]Balin[/name_m] and Baylon though- they seem to have counter-intuitive pronunciations to me- I’d say ‘BAL-in’ and ‘[name_u]BAY[/name_u]-lon’ rather than ‘[name_u]BAY[/name_u]-lin’.
