[name]Glad[/name] you are both feeling the love! I think you should really strongly consider it. BUT of course, if it’s not right, it’s not right!
I don’t find it girly at all. I suppose since it’s a surname it could be faintly uni, but it’s all boy to me.
In 2010 (2011 data is probably available from the SS Admin, but I haven’t downloaded it yet), there were 214 boy [name]Lennox[/name]'s and only 22 girl [name]Lennox[/name]'s. The distribution of the spelling [name]Lenox[/name] was similar, with 41 boys and 7 girls. So the usage is around 85 male / 15 female, not bad.
I think of the boxer [name]Lennox[/name] [name]Lewis[/name], very masculine. And [name]Lenny[/name] and Nox to me are both all boy.
I suppose the one female association si maybe [name]Annie[/name] [name]Lennox[/name]? Is that what’s doing it for you? I can see that, I suppose, but she’s not really in the limelight as she used to be, and it was her surname anyway.
Anyway, in terms of more suggestions, you could search in Nameberry’s search for the word “surname” - lots of suggestions come up. There are also several surname lists on this page:
I have one other thought: [name]Briar[/name] is a cool word name for a girl (and it also has a faintly surname-y feel), do you want to go with a word name for a boy? A few of my favorites are:
[name]Cedar[/name] (pretty plant heavy with [name]Briar[/name], FWIW)
[name]Jasper[/name]
[name]Loyal[/name] (L heavy with [name]Lennox[/name], though)
[name]Prosper[/name]
[name]Ransom[/name] (pretty heavy religious overtones with that one, though, if that bothers you - otherwise it just sounds like kidnapping : D. [name]Shame[/name], because I find it so handsome)
And this one just stands out to me:
[name]Dexter[/name]
I’ll be back if I think of more! Good luck!
