We both like: James, August, Ambrose, Jack
James doesn’t work with our LN or this would’ve been the name.
Was pregnant in 2022 and August was the boy name (had a girl). But everytime we find out someone’s pregnant with a boy im worried they’re gonna name him August… very loved by all right now…
Ambrose is very unique and I’m worried too unique
Jack is pretty generic and almost a safety name for us
As for the southern vibe my husband loves so well… he’s mentioned and ive vetoed: Waylon, Walker, and Cletus
I’ve liked and he’s vetoed: Max, Hardy, and Lawson

I love the name August, and I feel like it feels more popular than it actually is in real life, because a lot of people are romanticizing the name & putting it on their lists, but not actually using it. I also love Ambrose and Jack, but agree with you that Ambrose is very unique, and Jack is very common, so I understand if either name is too rare or too common for your personal tastes. Assorted thoughts: I love the names on your list! I can see your concerns about [name_u]August[/name_u]. For me, it’s not so much the popularity but the nickname options -‘I don’t love [name_m]Auggie[/name_m] and [name_u]Gus[/name_u] as much as I love [name_u]August[/name_u] so it would probably only be a middle name option for me. I don’t see [name_u]Jack[/name_u] btw as just a backup - there aren’t many Jack’s around, from what I can tell - I think it has the reputation of being generic but it’s not actually used (top 20 but not top 10). Meanwhile, [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] is more distinctive but I prefer its nickname options to August’s and think it’s very cool!
