Help with boys and girls names please!

[name]Hi[/name], my name’s [name]Bridget[/name] and my husband is [name]Joe[/name]. We’re expecting twins in [name]April[/name]! These are our first babies, and while we’re overjoyed, we are at a complete loss when it comes to names. We’re not going to find out the sexes of the babies so we need 2 boys names and 2 girls names.

Our first name lists are these:

Boys
[name]Nathan[/name]- Like but just not sure, probably our frontrunner if we had to choose.
[name]Benjamin[/name] ‘[name]Ben[/name]’ - Too plain now?
[name]Cole[/name] - Can’t use due to a cousin with this name
[name]Jack[/name] - Ditto [name]Cole[/name], and the popularity.
[name]Malcolm[/name] ([name]Mac[/name]/k)- Like but don’t love, not husband’s favorite.
[name]Elliott[/name]- Husband loves, but I just can’t get into.
[name]Emmett[/name]- Too Twilight?
[name]Carson[/name]- Gone to the girls?
[name]Blake[/name] - Ditto [name]Cole[/name] and [name]Jack[/name].
[name]Damian[/name]/[name]Damien[/name] - We both really like, but husband has a friend that he doesn’t really want to name the baby after with this name.
[name]Vincent[/name] ‘[name]Vince[/name]’- Like but I have a bad experience with the name.

Girls
[name]Ella[/name]- [name]Love[/name] but so common.
[name]Ava[/name]- Ditto [name]Ella[/name].
[name]Claire[/name]- [name]Just[/name] not sure, but I do like this alot.
[name]Sophie[/name]- Husband hates, but I like it.
[name]Chloe[/name]- Its a favorite but husband has a bad experience with the name.

Middle name options will be family names, not sure which ones yet, however we don’t really need help with those. Any comments or opinions on our current names would be greatly appreciated and throw whatever suggestions you can at us! I feel like we’ve looked through every name possible and just can’t find the perfect name(s)! Thanks so much in advance! (:

[name]Stella[/name]

[name]Just[/name] a couple I pulled out of no where - hope this helps!!

I completely agree with mischa, but I normally do, anyway

Thank you! I like [name]Patrick[/name], but its my brother’s name so its out as a first name. I love it though and I’ve been trying to find names with a similar feel but haven’t yet. [name]Henry[/name] is nice but I’m worried about the popularity, I feel like I hear it everywhere! I like [name]Will[/name] too, but have never seriously considered it because of a cousin I’m very close to with the name. As for girl’s names, [name]Grace[/name] and [name]Stella[/name] are ones to think about! I definitely like [name]Stella[/name] and maybe that could give me my ‘[name]Ella[/name]’ without being one of 6 [name]Ella[/name]'s in a class room. Thanks again, and keep them coming!

Ok, here’s some more!!

Boys:
[name]Arthur[/name]
[name]Oscar[/name]
[name]Ethan[/name]
[name]Noah[/name]
[name]Elijah[/name]/[name]Eli[/name]
[name]Levi[/name]
[name]Liam[/name]
[name]Oliver[/name]
[name]Sebastian[/name]

Girls:
[name]Anna[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name] (You’ll be able to call her [name]Ella[/name] for short!)
[name]Lucy[/name]
[name]Violet[/name]
[name]Clara[/name]
[name]Hazel[/name]
[name]Ruby[/name]
[name]Elsie[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name]/[name]Amelie[/name]
[name]Annabel[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name]
[name]Tessa[/name]

These ones are probably a bit more out there… But let me know what you think!

[name]Hi[/name] I have gone out on a limb with these suggestions I hope some of them appeal to you.

I love rollo’s suggestions, but they are my style  [name]Bennet[/name] [name]Oliver[/name] and [name]Linnea[/name] [name]Hope[/name] are wonderful. I might steal them for myself.

I will just throw some out there as well…
Girls:
[name]Celeste[/name]
[name]Rhiannon[/name]
[name]Mila[/name]
[name]Naomi[/name]
[name]Cleo[/name]
[name]Lindy[/name]

Boys:
[name]Theodore[/name]
[name]Max[/name]
[name]Dylan[/name]
[name]Redmond[/name]
[name]Victor[/name]

[name]Benjamin[/name] [name]Cole[/name] “[name]Benji[/name]” - [name]Eloise[/name] [name]Claire[/name]…I know you said you didn’t need middle names but I just thought these 2 sounded so cute together…:)…

Thank you so much everyone! Okay so we’ve updated our lists based on everyone’s suggestions so far. Here’s what we’ve got:

Boys
[name]Nathan[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name]/[name]Bennett[/name]
[name]Malcolm[/name] ([name]Mack[/name])
[name]Emmett[/name]
[name]Vincent[/name] ([name]Vince[/name])
[name]Elliott[/name] - My husband still really loves this, and I like [name]Eli[/name] so I thought maybe this could give us the best of both worlds? However, it does bother me that [name]Elliott[/name] and [name]Eli[/name] have different sounds… I don’t know, thoughts?
[name]Liam[/name] - Too popular?
[name]Max[/name]

Girls
[name]Ella[/name]
[name]Claire[/name]
[name]Arabella[/name] - [name]How[/name] popular is this? Is it the next [name]Isabella[/name]? Because I think I may have fallen head over heels in love with this name…
[name]Tessa[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name]
[name]Juliet[/name] - I love this, husband doesn’t so its probably out, but I thought I would include it on here.

Okay, so these definitely gave us some more options to consider and we’re not any closer to our final names yet… But I’m really liking what we’ve got right now! Its going to be so hard to choose! So any comments on these names right now? Thoughts? Are there any I should avoid for sure? Suggestions are still welcome if you can think of any! Thank you again!

[name]Do[/name] you think that your husband would allow you to use [name]Juliet[/name] in the middle name spot? [name]Arabella[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] would be a gorgeous combo. Otherwise I would go for [name]Arabella[/name] [name]Claire[/name].

If you look up the SSA most popular names there is a box to search for any name you like and it then gives you its ranking out of 1000.

For a son I would choose [name]William[/name] [name]Elliott[/name] this combo gives you choices between [name]Will[/name] and [name]Liam[/name] ([name]Billy[/name] is out now) and if you wanted to call baby by his middle name you can give him the nn of [name]Eli[/name] PLUS [name]William[/name] and [name]Arabella[/name] sound awesome together so it would make a fabulous sibset for the future.

rollo

PS If your husband wants [name]Elliott[/name] in the first name spot then [name]Elliott[/name] [name]William[/name] makes a great combo and for that future sibset [name]Elliott[/name] and [name]Arabella[/name] are perfect together too.

Okay, so for boys we are definitely still unsure. I think if I had to choose today, my boys names would be [name]Malcolm[/name] ‘[name]Mack[/name]’ and [name]Vincent[/name] ‘[name]Vince[/name]’ however, my husband is pulling for [name]Elliott[/name] and [name]Nathan[/name], or [name]Elliott[/name] and [name]Benjamin[/name] ‘[name]Ben[/name].’ I’m trying hard to get into [name]Elliott[/name] but I just can’t at this point. [name]Nathan[/name] and [name]Ben[/name] are both favorites of mine I’m just concerned with popularity. Ohh, this is so hard! So all of that to say our boys names are still up for discussion!

As far as girls, I think that’s where we’ve made strides. While I’ve fallen for [name]Arabella[/name], I think its destined to become popular, and my husband likes it but is only so-so on it. We actually came up with our two names on our own. [name]Elise[/name] and [name]Laney[/name]. I think they’re perfect, sweet, and compliment eachother. My only concern is that [name]Laney[/name] may not be strong enough to stand on its own. What do you think? I’ve thought of [name]Delaney[/name], [name]Alaina[/name], [name]Elaine[/name], or just [name]Lane[/name]. What do you think about any of these, with the nickname [name]Laney[/name]/[name]Lainey[/name]? Looking at it now though, I’m going to scrap [name]Elaine[/name] because [name]Elaine[/name] and [name]Elise[/name] just look way too similar for me.

Thanks so much for the help! Who knew naming two babies could be so difficult, lol (:

[name]Hi[/name] thanks for the update. I really, really don’t think [name]Arabella[/name] is ever going to shoot up the charts. I don’t see it as an [name]Isabella[/name] replacement. Of course I don’t have a crystal ball but I don’t think they are comparable at all. I think that parents who give their child the name [name]Isabella[/name] are in the main conservative parents but I think [name]Arabella[/name]'s parents are willing to go out on a limb a bit because they feel that it is such a spectacular name. (I love [name]Arabella[/name] and see her as a very poised, articulate child who is very likeable and sociable.)

Re [name]Nathan[/name] and [name]Ben[/name] they are both safe choices you can’t go wrong with either. I feel that [name]Nathan[/name] is a little more dated than [name]Benjamin[/name] even though they both emerged as favourites in the 1970’s. [name]Nathaniel[/name] is more today I think it has echoes of [name]Ethan[/name] too which has become a favourite.

Re [name]Elise[/name] and [name]Laney[/name]. I think [name]Elise[/name] is a stunning name, absolutely beautiful! I don’t think [name]Lainey[/name] is very interesting at all although if it was a nn for [name]Alanna[/name] or [name]Elaina[/name] that would fine. [name]Lane[/name] itself is a boy’s name so I would not consider that.

I got the feeling before that you liked truly feminine names so I am surprised to see [name]Lainy[/name] and [name]Delaney[/name] come up. I like [name]Delaney[/name] and [name]Lainy[/name] could be a nn for it I think I prefer the pretty [name]Della[/name] as a nn and I love [name]Delta[/name] as a full name too.

Of all the boy’s names you have just listed it is [name]Elliott[/name] that is my favourite. I don’t see [name]Mack[/name] as a nn for [name]Malcolm[/name] I see [name]Cormac[/name] as the full name for [name]Mack[/name] but that is up to you.

I know that [name]Princess[/name] [name]Mary[/name] of Denmark has just named her child [name]Vincent[/name] but I can’t get into the name myself.

[name]Remember[/name] whatever you choose now sets a pattern for naming future siblings if you want them to ‘match’.

I am confused because on the one hand you are loving the conservative names and on the other you are considering unisex girl’s names.

If it was me and I had to choose now I would choose [name]Nathaniel[/name] [name]Vincent[/name], because [name]Nathaniel[/name] is today’s trend and because you like [name]Vincent[/name]. I also think it is a good combo and the nn of [name]Nate[/name] is handsome too. For a daughter to match [name]Nathaniel[/name] I would go with [name]Abigail[/name] [name]Delaney[/name]. The nn of [name]Abby[/name] is very trendy so that could put you off it but [name]Abigail[/name] is lovely.

I love [name]Max[/name] and it is almost the same as [name]Mack[/name] and such a handsome name, combo of [name]Maxwell[/name] [name]Liam[/name]/[name]Elliott[/name]/[name]Vincent[/name], nn of [name]Max[/name] which is always handsome.

Otherwise (sorry some names not on your list)

[name]Phoebe[/name] [name]Claire[/name]
[name]Tessa[/name] [name]Gillian[/name]
[name]Elise[/name] [name]Matilda[/name]
[name]Elise[/name] [name]Marion[/name]
[name]Elise[/name] [name]Cecelia[/name]
[name]Elise[/name] [name]Willow[/name]
[name]Elise[/name] [name]Marguerite[/name]
[name]Elise[/name] [name]Delaney[/name]
[name]Elise[/name] [name]Monroe[/name]
[name]Elise[/name] [name]Bellamy[/name]
[name]Elise[/name] [name]Katherine[/name]
[name]Alanna[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Elaina[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] nn [name]Lainey[/name]

Girls name great!
