We have two boys, [name_m]Cuyler[/name_m](pronounced [name_m]Kyler[/name_m]) and [name_u]Avery[/name_u]. I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] their names and I feel like they are kind of “different”. I’ve not met any other [name_m]Cuyler[/name_m]/Kylers although I know they are out there and I don’t hear of many boy Averys, just girl ones, although I know they are out there too. when we chose these names all the people in our circle were, not in a critical way, intrigued with our choices. So, are these names “different” or what would you classify them as? I’m not sure they even “go” together, but I feel like they do in a way, but maybe its just because I love them? ![]()
Anyhow, I feel like all the other boy names I like(I don’t really [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] any at the moment except for one that my husband totally vetoes), just don’t fit. What names fit with our two boys? Here is what I like but please offer fresh suggestions if you think of names that you think would fit with these two. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband is so not picky about things like, "do they go together, are they too matchy, do they rhyme? [name_f]Do[/name_f] they start with the same letter? [name_f]Do[/name_f] they have the same ending? etc… If he likes it that’s all that he cares about, lol. I am more picky. ![]()
[name_u]Morgan[/name_u] - I love for a boy but my hubby sees it as unusable on boys because he has known two girl Morgans and one we see all the time( she is a teenager) She will be in college more than likely by the time we have more kids so I don’t see it as a huge problem. But, is this a problem, do you think, if I could get him on board? I feel like it fits in well with [name_m]Cuyler[/name_m] and [name_u]Avery[/name_u]? Does it? I’d love feedback on this choice:)
[name_m]Asher[/name_m] This was our top contender with [name_u]Avery[/name_u] for baby boy #2, and we went with [name_u]Avery[/name_u]. Hubby is not as fond of it anymore and I still like it a lot but its similarity to [name_m]Cuyler[/name_m] in syllable and ending kind of bothers me. Is it a definite no-no? I know, subjective views here, but what do you think? I kind of like, in a way, it has syllable and ending in common with [name_m]Cuyler[/name_m] and the “A” in common with [name_u]Avery[/name_u]. But on the other hand it kind of feels too close. But I do like the name a lot.
[name_u]Elias[/name_u] I would say this one is the closest one to a “love” for me after [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] and is hubby’s favorite. I feel like the “eye” and “L” sounds make it similar and kind of rhymey with [name_m]Cuyler[/name_m] and I definitely don’t love [name_m]Eli[/name_m] especially that it rhymes with Cuy, which is our son’s nickname. Would it be really hard to get people to not call him [name_m]Eli[/name_m]? I know an [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] and an [name_u]Elisha[/name_u] and they never get called [name_m]Eli[/name_m] because they’ve told people they don’t like it. I do like using “short” names and call [name_m]Cuyler[/name_m] Cuy a lot and [name_u]Avery[/name_u] gets called “Aves” all the time. So I feel like I might be sad not having a short version.
I like [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m], but I feel it does not fit well at all with my boys names and it has the long “a” sound like [name_u]Avery[/name_u], kind of the same problem with [name_m]Cuyler[/name_m] and [name_u]Elias[/name_u]. Too similar? Too Biblical? [name_f]My[/name_f] husbands name is also [name_m]Daniel[/name_m], which has the same ending sound. Too close? I like [name_m]Gabe[/name_m] as the short name.
[name_m]Weston[/name_m] - I like that it sounds strong and has the nickname [name_m]Wes[/name_m], but I don’t love it and I’m not sure it fits well with [name_m]Cuyler[/name_m] and [name_u]Avery[/name_u].
Of these choices, which do you like best with [name_m]Cuyler[/name_m] and [name_u]Avery[/name_u]? Which would you veto for sure? What other new suggestions do you have me for? If you made it to the end and will take the time to reply, thanks so much! I tried not to be too lengthy but I just need some feedback an all these thoughts! THanks so Much! ![]()
