Help with flow of baby boy's name?

Hello,
We are expecting a baby boy soon and we are a little torn on the flow of his name. We are loving the first name “[name_m]Arthur[/name_m]”…it was my husband’s great-grandpa’s name, and also means “bear” which holds a special meaning to us. We are thinking of the middle name “[name_u]Ray[/name_u]”, which is my dad and grandpa’s middle name…so we would continue the tradition. Another option for middle name would be [name_m]Watson[/name_m], which is my grandpa’s first name.

I am concerned with the double “R” sound of [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_u]Ray[/name_u]…do you think it is too prohibitive to use, even though both names have great meaning to us? Is [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_m]Watson[/name_m] a any better? Any other thoughts/suggestions?

Thank you for your help!

I think [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_u]Ray[/name_u] flows just fine I think [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_m]Watson[/name_m] gives the name a little more flair!

I think that [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_u]Ray[/name_u] is absolutely fine when considering flow and I love that the names have significance for you! [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_m]Watson[/name_m] is a unique name but I think it could sound like he has a double last name when said together X

I actually prefer [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_u]Ray[/name_u]. Yes, the r’s can slur together, but it’s not awful. I think it sounds handsome/cute, and since they are both family names it’s completely forgivable.

[name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_m]Watson[/name_m] is fine too–how many syllables is the last name? If 2, i’d go with [name_u]Ray[/name_u].

Thank you everyone! emsky…Our last name is Pett.

[name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_m]Watson[/name_m] is absolutely adorable, esp. with your last name. That being said, I really don’t think [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_u]Ray[/name_u] poses any problem of “flow” and it is also quite nice. So you’re in good shape no matter what! Congratulations and best of luck!

Thank you francelise!

I prefer the flow of [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_m]Watson[/name_m], and I love the associations of both [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] and [name_m]Watson[/name_m]. Altogether it could sound a bit like he’s got a double barrelled surname, but that doesn’t really matter. It also sounds like [name_u]Ray[/name_u] has a lot of significance for you, and [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_u]Ray[/name_u] is a nice combo as well, so if it has more meaning, I’d say go for it. Either way, I love [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]!
