I have been thinking a lot lately about my girl names’ list. Mainly, this is because I am going to receive a baby girl soon from the [name_u]Baby[/name_u]-Think-It-Over program that is held at my school. However, I would also like to possibly use some of these names fro my future children as well. Please help me narrow down my list and/or tell me what you like/dislike about the names. Thanks.
*Means that I can’t use them for the [name_u]Baby[/name_u]-Think-It-Over program because there are people in my class that are named these names, but would still like to use them in the future.
** Means that I absolutely [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] this name but want to have other opinions as well.
I wish we had something like this program when I was in school. [name_f]My[/name_f] faves are bolded below.
I love…
[name_f]Abigail[/name_f] - a Biblical gem [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] - sweet and vintage [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] - elegant and sophisticated
[name_f]Eve[/name_f] - there is beauty in one-syllable [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] - soft and feminine [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] - spunky and sassy [name_f]Violet[/name_f] - see [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
I like…
[name_f]Chloe[/name_f] - at least it’s spelled with a “C”
[name_f]Alexa[/name_f] - I prefer [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] but this is ok
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] - I like [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] too
[name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] - overused but I don’t mind it as long as it’s spelled this way
[name_f]Ava[/name_f] - overdone but pretty
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] - I’m hearing this name alot along with [name_f]Nora[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilly[/name_f] - I think [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is the best spelling
[name_f]Olivia[/name_f] - this is very popular. I prefer [name_f]Livia[/name_f] or [name_f]Liv[/name_f].
[name_f]Summer[/name_f] - although [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] is my favourite season, [name_f]Summer[/name_f] is my favourite season name.
I dislike…
[name_u]Bailey[/name_u] - reminds me of a dog name
[name_f]Baylor[/name_f] (MN only) - sounds like a donkey call
[name_u]Britton[/name_u] - harsh sounding and unattractive
[name_f]Aria[/name_f] - trendy and best left to the opera world.
[name_f]Delanie[/name_f] - [name_u]Delaney[/name_u] is the correct spelling.
[name_f]Emmelyn[/name_f] - [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] is gorgeous. [name_f]Emmelyn[/name_f] is terrible.
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] - trendy
[name_u]Kassidy[/name_u] - Not a good name even spelled with a “C”
[name_u]Keeley[/name_u] - there are better Irish names out there
[name_f]Khloe[/name_f] - I just think of the trashy Kardashian family and it turns me off
Makenzy - [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u] is the best spelling. I dislike “Mc-[name_m]Mac[/name_m]” names.
[name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] - this spelling is a modern invention and takes away from the beauty of [name_f]Madeline[/name_f]/[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f].
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f] - only for a nickname
[name_u]Paisley[/name_u] - whiney and weak
[name_u]Piper[/name_u] - trendy and cutesy
[name_u]Regan[/name_u] - trendy along with cousins [name_u]Teagan[/name_u] and [name_f]Megan[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophia[/name_f] - I prefer the [name_m]French[/name_m] version of [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] much better
[name_u]Teagan[/name_u] - trendy along with cousin [name_u]Reagan[/name_u]
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f] - I prefer just [name_f]Tess[/name_f]. Adding an “a” makes it too prissy for my taste.
obviously a lot of them are really trendy, but I don’t think that’s a bad thing necessarily. I’d suggest…
[name_f]Aveline[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] or [name_f]Ada[/name_f]
[name_f]Willow[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Tyra[/name_f]
[name_f]Thea[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Zofia[/name_f]
Graceland
[name_f]Molly[/name_f]
[name_u]Tierney[/name_u]
[name_u]Harper[/name_u]
[name_u]Chandler[/name_u]
